Guild Wars Fan, wow……nothing you said had absolutely anything to do with ANY of the points I made. nice. I didn’t suggest a solution, or timezone matchup changes, as I said I don’t care about losing to people more skilled than myself, I just want an equal opportunity to play in WvW, and I simply don’t have that. Stop exaggerating.
-You seem to be confusing “limited time,” with sleeping.
-I didn’t buy this game so I could spend every moment trying to find people to make the game enjoyable instead of actually playing it.
-I really suggest you go through some of the other threads and look at the screenshots of scoring from the past few weeks.
-Now what REALLY doesn’t make sense, follow me here, if you are trying to let their fancy algorithmic system work, which I guess we just have to assume will work to begin with, wouldnt abusing the free server transfer to make hundreds if not thousands of players bouncing around severely disrupt this process? Yes, yes it would.
And heres an example, last week my server Dragonbrand was leading in a very fair matchup, which all sides were enjoying, all 3 servers were within 20-30k of eachother all week. 2 days before reset, 500 european players xferd to Blackgate and over those 2 days they crushed us, we couldnt do anything, and we have some good commanders. Reset happened, they ranked up we ranked down. Ok, now say in 2 weeks those 500 abandon blackgate while they are still up high in ranking, then they get roflstomped and they will have to play several weeks of terrible matchups before they settle into the proper ranking. Or better yet, say those 500 european players transfer to my server after we “settle” into our appropriate position lower down, then we roflstomp every matchup we play for weeks until we reach our right spot nearish the top. Does that make sense to you? Does it? I really hope not.
The fact that this logic is escaping people is astounding.
Maybe you should look at the number of replies in this thread to get a gauge of the general people’s opinion.

If you are on a server that is suffering from this situation…you would know its more than a small percentage of people who are really unhappy about the state of WvW, I rarely see a map chat not filled with kittening about WvW. For each person on here who is upset there are ALOT more who just don’t bother with forums, (and I don’t blame them) because no matter how worked up we get and no matter HOW MUCH we cry for change, we’ll get a bullkitten response just like the one Matt here gave us.

His “point” proved our own point about why nightcapping is making the game not fun. We are being punished because we don’t stay up all night, during their prime hours. The player base should not be responsible for finding oceanic people to balance out our matchups, that idea is ridiculous. Servers that have both the oceanic pop and American pop, have such an advantage that the game isn’t fun. I don’t have to win, I don’t have to have an advantage, I just want an equal opportunity to play without these ridiculous barriers. He says everyone should be able to experience and enjoy the same content, well………………………………………..when i wake up EVERY MORNING to the same crap, I stop playing because I can no longer experience WvW. How ANET fails to realize this is beyond me. Stop. Failing. Anet, do you want what happened to Swtor to happen to you?

You just made OUR (the nightcapping “whiners”) point for us. Every morning I wake up feeling punished because I didn’t pull an all-nighter. At this point I’m unable to experience and enjoy the very little wvw still has to offer. Because I don’t stay up all night, I’m getting punished.
ANET, if you really want a good 24/7 experience, as you say, you need to disable the 150-200 man zerg advantage, you don’t do this the way everyone else has been saying with Que timers and current pop size limitations. The problem is that you decided to have 4 maps.
(sorry for mentioning DAoC) the reason it worked was because it was ONE GIANT map that was in constant flux. The vast size gave it so much appeal and variation that the 150-200 man zerg became a disadvantage, worthless because they couldn’t be everywhere at once with a map that size. Frankly, these maps are too small, its far too easy to just sit in a 150-200 man group and travel around zerging every keep and tower withing a 30 minuet period.
Anet, I find your response to the communities outcry for change disgusting.

speaking from DB, the most fair matchup I’ve seen so far was the previous one, until Blackgate got 500 European players to move over and in the last 2 days crushed us….
we saw SWTOR’s devs not respond soon enough and they lost basically all of their player base. While it is nice to sit patient, we’d like to know Arenanet IS really actively reading these forums and trying to fix these core issues (bugs aside).
Okay, Representation has got to go. Discuss. Being able to be apart of a bazillion guilds takes away from what being part of a guild is supposed to mean. I loved the system in GW1 where it locked your account to a singular guild, it built SO much loyalty and strengthened the guild community.

It especially hurts WvW. And yes while you can command that your guild members either represent 100% of the time or get kicked, this prevents smaller guilds from forming and growing. At least in WoW you have to bind your specific character to the guild. In Gw2 any of your toons can be guild hopping anywhere. The issue needs to be forced.
The name of the game is guild wars, and you can be on anyone’s side at anytime…

WvW night capping/whining/unbalance can be solved with a fairly easy fix.

There is a pretty big difference between what alot of people here are saying, “if you don’t have a strong nightcap team then your server is weak” and when your server doesn’t have a strong oceanic population vs the one you’re up against……
It’s pretty freaking obvious….and to all the people here complaining about the whiners, you’re doing the same thing yourself. so stuff it.
Also lol at the guy who suggested that servers do a recruitment drive to get more people into WvW. ’Cause that will work.
I don’t understand how ANET thinks they are balancing servers, they are collecting all this data about the player base from each server while said people are constantly jumping ship to other servers when theirs is losing, or even ranking 2nd on their map. Because it takes about 5 seconds to do it and its free. I’ve transferred across several realms to see if the same thing is happening everywhere and it is. Everywhere (almost) has 1 server dominating and the rest struggling to collect pennies.
I’m also on Darkhaven and when this matchup launched DH was leading, my guild even captured Stonemist. We were winning till about 2am est when Yaks bend started to come up on us, till that point it had been a relativily fair matchup and when I logged on in the morning 7-8hrs later, Yaks bend had near 100%, and I had even found out a good portion of DH people had transferred there. Fail.
Disabling free transfers at this point isn’t enough to solve the problem because the damage is already done. Very good guilds will eventually transfer around for shorter que times and a smaller population so they can be ranked higher on their server (lol) we saw this in WoW a lot. But really that is only a small portion in comparison. And who knows how long that could really take. Point is, you can’t collect data to make server matchups when people can move around willy nilly, and you can’t force people back to other servers, so what are you going to do ANET? I’d love to know.
