/anet balancing oh god change that does not make any different in meta or the meta is changing at an alarming rate instead of doing this kitten they should try spicing up the meta instead balancing it every time they make a mistake i don’t think anyone cares at this point if their class get nerfed/buffed into oblivion just for sake making the game interesting to learn again but for pvp sake i like it but wvw is terrible before hot it was quite the opposite wvw is was good but it was dying because lack of cares for wvw at same time pvp was really boring dues to bunker wars

This video is old. It is from a bug that caused traited Rite of the Great Dwarf to stack additively.

Today ~97% damage reduction is the highest in the game, and it requires 5 different classes to produce it on the Revenant
The math is multiplicative

  • .9 from frost aura
  • .9 from shrouded mists
  • .9 from determined resolution
  • .9 from close quarters for far enemies or .93 for near (rune of the scrapper)
  • .9 from food
  • .66 from protection
  • .66 from “guard”
  • .66 from phantasmal defender
  • .66 from bulwark gyro
  • .5 from rite of the great dwarf
  • .61 for having 3000 armor.

But the Revenant itself can only reach 87% for short bursts of time. Otherwise at rest it is around 74% damage reduction. How is that any different than a Warrior that rests around 45% damage reduction, and burst to 100% with stances?

War are dealable but lack of movement / war get manipulated easily Revenant was not before nerfs to their kit hence why you don’t see thief in ESL because reve still better after nerfs at being thief but i find it funny that it take 4 months to get patched

They kinda have that, its called siphon. Its damage ignores armor but cannot crit. Leeching and blood sigils are one way to get it for a hit for most classes, sadly rev is the only class that reliably has this effect via heal and traits.

i thought it hit for like 300 something on top of your dmg ? which like 700 something when someone running dmg reduction and does it have inter-cd? like of 1sec or something

siphon is okay counter but not all class have reliable source of siphon xd if you have change your build that far then what the point of playing physical DPS

this went on for 3-4 months before fix came but again even in this meta it feels more pointless no one really dieds in meta and it just constant button mashing = people dying and boring tank/rezing meta which i think scared lot of people away from wvw / game like before hot i felt like raiding was lot harder but fun learning experience but after hot it so faceroll that even non-skill players can’t be punished due to fact of messed up balancing in wvw like if you accidentally walked into a bomb (big aoe dmg by nercos / eles) don’t worry dmg reduction got your back but before hot you would died easy if you missed play even to physical and Condi damage even if you was melee raid guard

That’s what dwarf elite should have always been lol
No one uses that 50% dmg reduction, ever, beside the autoproc on passive.

i think every guild or blob raider has used 50% dmg reduction idk if you been in wvw before changes to dmg reduction every man and his dog was using this kitten even in 1v1 duels it used like engi protection+gyro like there many videos or povs of this kitten being used in background in blob fights / gvg fights and you can see dmg incoming is so low there no point to being zerk or physical DPS you might as well use condi but you know resistance up time with boon share mesmer is good well back then it was im saying there is counter for resistance but not for dmg reduction hence why blob fighting in this meta so what pointless like hitting each other with wet noodle

shortbow is quite strong weapon set it quite like s/d it had quite learning curve but once you get it you can do some very interesting results with it

An Argument for Enhancing x/P Sets

i really disagree with topic i think making other traits as efficient as meta ones like DA and DD and trickery then you can have more diversity between ones because only acrobatic was used because it had trait might on dodge/evade made it so s/d was quite good for the types of builds was out there like if you nerf SB “again” you just encourage staff which is like bad version SB which makes bad results like if you take all defensive traits from DD then put them in to acrobatics then take all offensive traits from acrobatics put in them in to DD you might able to have lot more diversity between traits lines as well the weapon sets hence new interesting meta where thief can be anything is which was very scary in past if you was vsing s/d thief or d/p or p/p etc because traits as well encourages more thought processing between fighting / thinking about builds which can be efficient / synergise better with traits / weapon sets alike also i think thief is used lot more than you think in pvp if you was more thinking in soloq preference

as well adding olds traits back in to the game such as ricochet but merging it with another trait so people have to make harder choices in their builds to bring out where choices they made such as if they made a team-fighting build over a plus+1 build so build have interesting weakness / strength which makes game fun again to learn without having make obvious picks in traits lines / weapon sets

the game for me became more hollow like i don’t know if it was just HOT or people becoming bored of the game but lot of changes to game was more of fixing or balancing kappa but i feel like they don’t know how to spice up the game without finding middle ground between community instead trys to appeal to everyone at same time which does not work in game but when release things they don’t have public beta test server or anything unless it big change or DLC like HOT so it more like feedback but damage is already done like with new maps where there was only desert maps which new / some old player found good but old maps have lot of good spots for new/old player that didn’t or did play old map would not get that experience again which kind of sad really if you think about it

lmao yeah by the tone of my text i don’t know i feel like cunky mechanic that somewhat pointless because thief has notorious rep of having first strikes even if you put in mechanic which stops that like i just feel not worth having in because it unnecessary and quite random change which i guess because you can find ways round this and encourages randoms dodges which in my book is bad thing to do but whatever i know we got like 9 dodges but all it takes one combo or two if you are not careful

i was not say it crap nerf but very questionable change even with thief coming back in to meta after hot being not so good to thief with game changes in pvp / wvw but did decent in pve now thieves making comeback which it quite a refreshing sight to see after all so much flame for thief in pvp during 1st season of pvp league to point i didn’t see another thief in high elo unless it was ESL or GVG-related player or thieves main you know for example sindrener but yeah thieves always being about that skill cap with being a mechanical player to adept on-spot headshot heals/skill cast times which i used to do headshot before it was cool lmao or DD came out but yeah lot builds encourage certain play styles which is very good and with hot as well encourage using unused skills like headshot i think very unused only few thieves knows how to use headshot but at same time i was bit annoy when thieves headshot spam and all you need to do wait for them run out of init then kill em

Hi before every thief here start flaming me and saying im not skilled at the game whatever yes im not best thief in EU ask sindrener but im above average

My name is Shepstar obviously i played in ESL / AG in past and i have round 2k hours on thief and played long time before hot like 2014/2015 so i have some claim that i got right talk about thief

i understand lot of nerfs and buffs to given to thief which lot of them make lot of sense but i can understand Stealth delay attack on shortbow or ranges weapons sets because they are very spamable which leads to some very interesting results like getting 3x 2secs of immobilise and lot bleed stacks which seems very strong but i don’t understand on melee weapons because you only get one attack because it revealed straight away not like range weapons where you can get 3 projectiles off before getting revealed on SB which can be combo with smoke or poison field because i feel like it encourage random dodge / preemptive dodging which i don’t mind because it does give counter play to stealth skills if you dodge luckily or good but it not enjoyable because it 1/4 cast time with 1 cd which is like 1 1/4 sec cd so you might as well spam other skill d/p 3 or 4 when someone makes your stealth backstab useless by whatever means i think it just very clunky like i felt with SB 1 when someone was blinking everywhere i was stuck there in stealth not able to do anything because of targeting / SB cd but i feel like it should be on range weapons alone but i guess it whatever i always hit my BS anyway but i found cool trick for you thieves which hate it if you time your cancel skill button or sheath weapon just before BS you can put on lower cd like 1 sec instead 1 1/4 sec so it does not feel an eternity as well they don’t get miss or evade message but your guys opinion does matter because thief side of gw2 is not looking that great because segregation in gw2 right now and not lot of people voices are not heard on matter of class changes just because they don’t want post feedback/opinions on forum which affects everyone good or worse

Mesmer will be able to cast portals bck2 bck and have covered that close mid much faster than thief and drag half or whole team with them,and ranger gs/staff will cover if not more than same as thief,even now i can cover 2x 1100 range with my ranger with use of quick draw gs reduction with in 4 sec,and when i get where i want i still have 4 skills to use and no need to w8 for ini regen.
With staff /gs ranger will be king of mobility….

x3 900 SB 5 (trickery)
1200 shadowstep
3 dash that covers 450 and provides 13 sec of swiftness
not including steal (1200) or IS (900) due targeting reason but still can be used

To be honest, Heartseeker should probably get evade frames.

Na, Heart Seeker needs to cast faster but take more initiative.

Heart Seeker needs to cast faster would = HS spam

take more initiative = would mean i would not bother using it since i can use 3 since there 1 initative difference between 2 to 3 if you make it more initiative cost

i do agree that mesmer on power level is slightly higher then thief and it true that anet has buffed other classes to assassinate better then thieves but remember thief has a certain style to it where other class be weakness or strength to how you play thief and i love the mindgames between mesmer or thief fights.

but in today’s pvp situation the thief is the spike, the team-stealth, mobile/offensive/defensive roamer or Jungler if you are on Buff maps and ninja medic so let say whatever traits you take will impact on how you play thief whatever if you take it for yourself or the team sakes it depends on how you want to play it really… i think we thief players do have problems fitting in MM composition just due to how MM works in any other games regardless if you soloq

but dkayl.6509 remember what we thieves do best is adapt even with meta

@Inflames.8026 dash is really nice for movement and if you got SB fastest class from A to B which thief is renowned for and hard to catch works with dash stops hard CC

@Nelzaki.3062 compared to other classes i don’t think it needs nerf but some changes but i guess we need to wait for next time intill we meet the Daredevil

i been playing thief for 1.5k hours (game 3k) and had round 2k games of pvp i had tested out daredevil quite fluently with traits/amulets. i feel that the daredevil is more of 1v1 thing or point attacker more then pvp or wvw or even pve (unless you are roaming/duels etc).

I believe daredevil would not be optimal for today’s pvp meta because compared to other specs or even with meta specs daredevil is really weak if you try to teamfight with it or even trying to point-hold unless you go condi build “condi thief” which might be thing i guess but mard is kind of useless if you don’t win the far fight or mid fight and fight might take even longer depend on your opponents build/skill then someone can +1 you. but i see what anet want of daredevil different change of pacing with thief and the new reveal mechanics but i was kind of hoping to get rifle for christmas but i can work with the staff

i tried a lot of difference trait lines and wap sets
acrobatics (dodges forever)
deadly art (DMG DMG!)
tickery (kind of must to use with s/d and staff)

s/p/staff
s/d/staff
SB/staff
and other sets

First beta Test (zerker in wvw/pvp and bit of condi testing)
Daredevil seem okay with dmg but super strong with condi which was funny in wvw but really clunky with dodge movement and some of staff skills which was annoying

final beta Test (only zerker played so far) #zerkerforlife sorry condi :’)
Daredevil had lot of changes and some good changes (pulmonary impact buff which was needed and strange choice to make bounding dodger from leap finisher to blast finisher and animations and movement feels less clunky which is plus and Dash can remove immobilise)

But i would like to see how Daredevil stands up to other classes when HOT comes out with final product of every other spec done in terms of balancing. I wonder what other thieves think to daredevil in general so comment below thanks
