Just got my account back, was banned for 2 weeks instead of just 3 days like it was supposed to be. Took about 10 days for a response which is really frustrating but I’m glad they got it back 4 days early at least…

No monthly fees is the reason I’m not slamming A-Net for the slow service. You have so much more time to play this game and they will only improve it for us at NO monthly fee. It’s such a huge launch. Thanks.

This is honestly what should happen if they want to keep their sales up…A lot of people are issuing charge-backs.

Maybe all these bans are just to reduce server weight so they can ease more and more people in lol.

From my limited play time, it’s a really really fun game, but the banning is insanely excessive and support was completely unprepared.

What she meant was that the term is not ban unless it is permanent, if you get a 3 day or 2 week it is called a suspension. She mentioned in another thread that the way it works is if you get reported for 2 separate incidents around the same time, they will stack and your 1 mark will stack to 2 marks which gets you a 2 week ban before you even saw the first 3 day ban.

If you had two incidents, your suspension will be extended to two weeks. If you had only one incident, and you’re certain of that, the team will check into this for you, just detail this in your ticket and please include a screenshot of the in-game suspension message that you’re receiving, so we can nail this down.

Nope, that will not happen. That would be considered the same incident. Generally these things are a day apart, at least. Once a mark is on the account — once it’s suspended — it will not be escalated to another rank. So if two agents were dealing with two reports, the second would see “Already actioned” and would not bump it to a two-week suspension.

So I was reading another post about 2 week ‘suspensions’ and Gaile said:

I had one incident of offensive chat and was instantly banned for 2 weeks instead of getting any 3 day ‘warning’ or anything. All I want to do is play the game I paid for… I accept the 3 day ban, and understand that I was wrong and I learned what the community is about, but now it’s just a bit excessive.

I believe you misunderstood. The first mark is 3 days. The second mark can be 14 days. If you have the first mark and get another in a relatively short period of time, the system automatically increases the suspension to 14 days.

So basically, what happened is that I said 2 things in a row without any idea of any a possible ban and it instantly gave me 14 days, without warning after the first mark? Can you just undo my ban then? I’ve served my 3 days (actually 6)

I got banned 2 weeks for inappropriate language on my first strike, seems extremely legit, after all.

I saw people being racist, being banned 3 days.
I have seen people calling other peoplekitten and spamming it, being banned 3 days.
I have seen people scamming and insulting, being banned 3 days.

Thanks for getting this stuff going, I understand it’s probably been an insane few weeks for you guys, I just want to be able to play a little before school gets going, I made a huge mistake with my actions and I learned enough about what you guys want out of this community from the 4 or 5 days I’ve been trying to contact Arenanet for questions on the email response that contradicts my actual ban time (says 3 days for chat offense, got 14 days).

What is the point of the profanity filter, and /ignore user if they are just going to ban the perpetrators anyways? I just looks like a good way to cheese off customers into playing some other game.

This is what I was wondering at first, but I sorta understand that light swearing is appropriate if not spammed and if people don’t want to see that then they can filter it, I guess what Anet wants is for all your swearing rants to go on inside guild/party/whisper chats and not in the general public or /say.

TBH it doesn’t matter. It takes more effort to report a lunatic player, and get them banned, than it does for some people to right click a name and select block.

I literally got an automated response email when I opened a ticket saying exactly this: “If your account is blocked for a chat offense, the account is given a three-day suspension.” Nothing about possibly being more, or 14 days; just three (3) days. Please explain? Thanks.

This also happened to me… I don’t understand it at all. I’ve been trying to contact support for the last 4 days and all I got was an automated response that said “Chat offenses are ban-able for 3 (Three!) days.”

All I want to do is play the game I payed for, I had no idea ArenaNet was so strict with this stuff but I would have perfectly accepted the 3 days as a warning, because I understand my language was inappropriate, but 14 days is a bit excessive especially because it happened like 3 minutes after I said what I said.
