If their design was to stop people unlocking elite spec instantly ( I can kinda see the reasoning) then fair enough. But once you have all the HPs the POH’s are worthless.

Could we not trade them in for Spvp reward track potions? (name escapes me, but red ones you get from spvp dailies). That way WvW would be rewarded the same way Spvp is…skins/mats etc.

just an idea.

If those guilds are wrecking your Ktrain i suggest you leave eotm and go farm pve for that time.

I know i wrote a lot, but either you didn’t read it all or you’re one of the guilds that enjoy it.

My point is that guild groups (10-20+) ruin the PvP for the majority of those in EotM. An organised group on a mostly random map farming levellers/random players, makes for a rubbish experience for near everyone else in that map.

The same way that a full premade party Vs random players ruins Ranked Spvp. Ofc the random people may be able to beat the premade, but for the most part it just leads to frustration and disappointment.

I don’t understand why groups feel the need to do it, but hey if that’s what you feel PvP is… A group of organised people, using set rotations and properly itemised gear/builds and voice comms to beat a bunch of random levellers/PvE’rs, in fact the outcome is almost scripted….then You got me, I must go PvE

Am afraid that EOTM will be dead soon. I have been in 6 EOTM yesterday and it was just baghunting. Within 30min our zerg went from 50 to 15. After one hour of baghunting, the tag left so anybody else.
Most people like to do the objectives of the map and when they can’t do it, they just leave. Anet did a great job on the new BL, but some people wont understand that baghunting is what killing WvW. Anyhow am only doing EOTM for dailies, since this baghunting is getting excessive.

Wait a minute, people are killing other people, in a pvp orientated map? How rude..

I get the point, I see where it comes from…What you fail to realise is what he’s getting at.

Eotm pre/early HoT was a levelling up / karma train. Many people used it as a goto for those reasons. Whilst it was in this ‘form’ groups did fight one another, random pug zergs against one another, normally the largest one would win, the commander would then look to only engage in favourable conditions. When fights occurred it felt relatively fair and balanced, a mix of all levels/geared players. So there was a mix between xp, k-train and PvP. This suited different players at different times. Personally I enjoyed the group fighting and the wexp (so i can improve my siege masteries).

My current experience of EotM, as a mid geared lvl80… Many commanders try to achieve what i said above, each team having a reasonable zerg. There are fights but objectives swap hands regularly (with the exception of keeps).

Then comes a guild group, 10-20 geared 80’s all from the same guild so i assume voice comms. Some lead their teams zerg around, others just chase enemy zergs. The majority of the time this guild group masacres the other teams zergs (no suprise organised lvl80’s, geared with voice comms beating a pug group with levellers and k-train’ers). The guild group chases the other pugs around the map collecting bags, people get fed up of being rolled over, players and commanders leave….

The guild group no longer has people to farm so leave…the team they were on now faceroll the entire map due to the enemy having no players/comms (I always look to see if my team has a commander when i join eotm, if there is non i normally leave). In other MMO’s I would relate it to low level ganking, they give themselves every advantage and actively look to destroy the enemies gameplay. When the enemy leaves out of frustration the group loses interest and leaves the map, completely ruining the map for the rest of the players (even the side they were on now face no enemy).

So yes wvw/eotm should be about PvP, yes GW2 is an mmo so people should play in groups/with friends. But the way guild groups actively chase enemy groups round the map solely to wipe them out (ignores all objectives) leaves a very sour taste and can leave an entire eotm reset ruined.

Rant over

[LFG] EU - Gandara - PvX / WvW

in Looking for...

I’m Looking for a Guild on Gandara EU as I hope to get involved with the WvW community.

I am online mostly during the day. Whilst not constantly online, I play between 0800 – 2000 GMT. Due to this I would prefer a guild with an active playerbase between those times.

I am a casual gamer, but one that constantly strives to improve my gameplay. I’d like a guild that I can grow within, and become part of the guilds community. I don’t mind the size of the guild, but would prefer one where most members know each other (rather than an invite all, no one knows anyone guild).

Gameplay wise I enjoy most aspects of GW2, but would really like to get into WvW. I don’t mind farming for Guild Hall improvements, helping out guildies when they need it or generally just chilling in guild chat. I can use any voice chat software going, prefer to listen until i get to know folks, I can’t always speak if family are around – but they are fine with me listening.

I’m a 31yr old guy with a wife and kid, ex military and an Englishman living in Scotland. I’m laid back and see the funny side in most things (dark doesn’t bother me). I’d like a guild chat that’s fun, engaging, but not like a 14yr olds facebook chat.

If you can identify with what i’ve wrote here (even if not in all areas – i’d still like to hear from you) then please get in touch. Even if you’re an individual that thinks we have stuff in common, give me a shout.

Hey guys/gals wanted to make a post to vent a little, but also get some advice from anyone who’s been in a similar place.

I’ve played GW2 for ~1month at launch and roughly the last 2-3 weeks. I’ve levelled 3 classes to 80 (guard>mesmer>ranger). Found I really enjoy Ranger due to how it can move from range>melee comfortably. But considering trying Warrior, as i dont mind levelling.

Now here is where i am struggling…End game dungeons/fractals/pvp;

- Dungeons have been an unpleasant experience so far, CoF story mode was cool and fun, but then tried AC path 1….The event at the table, where burrows come up etc. I’ve been in a few groups and we’ve just failed hardcore for a long time on it…but was told AC was one of the easiest dungeons? Fractals are detailed as harder than dungeons…what chance do i stand?

- PvP wise i’ve enjoyed WvW, both EotM and eternal BGs. SPvP i’ve dabbled at and not had a negative experience. But i feel like i’m not making the most of my character (ie. using the correct boons, combo’s etc)

I guess my problem is struggling to see a clear path to improving my gameplay. World bosses and general world encounters don’t require involved gameplay, so I just mash my way through. But stepping into 5man parties seems an intimidating place to learn.

How would you guys recommend that a newcomer can start to progress in the game? Ways to get experience in dungeons/fractals, without joining an all newbie pug where no one knows what they’re doing? How to gain a better understanding of priorities etc in PvP.

Thanks for your time!
