I have 299 WvW bonus chests

I’m fairly certain this isn’t supposed to happen, and there’s no conceivable way I’ll get all of them. But it’s amusing regardless.

It was originally 300 but I assumed that was a UI glitch that added extra zeroes at first.

I had to outright cheat to win against this guy, by doing the thing that made Dragon Ball an unplayable mess for the first few days.

But even after I did that, it took me three tries to beat him.

I’d like the old launcher back, the Chroma Hash was incredibly useful and overall the old one just looked better.

Most of this seems like a decent idea, but I’m not too sure about the weekly chest. It sounds to me like that’ll just end up with everyone zerging the bosses on Saturday and nobody doing them at all by the time Wednesday rolls around.

Something I’ve noticed about the “Hold the Line!” shout is that its audio component sometimes actually plays something, but it’s usually incorrect, sometimes hilariously so. What I think is happening with that skill is, the audio it plays is randomized on each cast. However, most of the time the audio selected isn’t valid; your race doesn’t have any audio for that piece of dialogue, and so it plays as silent. Occasionally, though, the random audio is actually something your race has lines for, so it plays…but there’s a lot of dialogue in the game, so it’s usually not the correct line anyway.

The viability of Spirit Weapons

The really great thing about spirit weapons is that they can draw aggro, but they’re impossible to damage. So if an enemy starts attacking one of your spirit weapons, that’s 20 to 60 seconds where the rest of your group isn’t taking non-AoE damage from that enemy.

How do you all handle being so slow?

My greatest annoyance is simply the fact that we are the slowest class to get from point A to point B. I don’t care if we get a signet or just a longer swiftness. All I know is that to get around, while leveling or in WvW, we are the slowest.
We have the best combat mobility, I agree with that. We have a great survivability in our escaping from bad situations. I’m not talking about combat, I’m not talking about chasing down a runner or running ourselves. I’m talking about exploring the world or going for map completion, or trying to get to that event before it ends. We are the worst class at getting there.
The ONLY way for us to get some movement speed is to give up all 6 of our armor rune slots OR use a weapon that is arguably substandard. That’s a much greater price to pay than the single utility slot (easily switchable when not traveling the world, and FREE), or some traiting that gives us some bonuses alongside the movement trait.
I don’t know why we have to pay such a great cost when no one else has to.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: guardians have it worse.

Guardians have either a 2-handed weapon that is not particularly useful when you aren’t traveling with a group (and if you’re traveling with a group, you don’t have to worry about out-of-combat movement boosts because the group will give those to you), or a utility slot that grants swiftness for 20 seconds when activated, on a 60 second cooldown (so, 33% swiftness at the cost of one of your utility slots being completely unusable if anyone hits you while you’re traveling). They can trait to make one of these more effective, but traiting for both doesn’t make for a good build, and they have no traits that boost speed without using one of these two options.

Thoughts about the new update?

For the people who insist on saying that the global cooldown is a fix, and not a nerf, understand that you are wrong. It is entirely possible for a change to be both a fix AND a nerf, and this is most certainly the case with this change.

What Anet should have done, was actually fix the exploit, without nerfing the rest of the mesmer playstyle. What they ended up doing was fixing the exploit by changing something not directly related to the exploit itself, simply because it was easier to code. This is just pure laziness on the part of the devs, and completely unacceptable.

So you’re saying using mesmer shatters the way I described correct?

The .25 GCD on shattering sounds more like a bug fix to prevent unintended usage of the mesmer illusions.

I asked my mesmer friend what it was because I never knew this bug, and he told me it makes sense to fix it. Why? Well, remember that the f1-f4 abilities do damage/whatever amount it says based on the number of clones? So using f1 SHOULD consume your CURRENT clones. However, with the bug, you could use f1-f4 or use them in a combo, effectively getting the effects of all your clones on different abilities. That’s totally not how mesmer was meant to be played… F1 should just be used for your current clones, and f2-f4 shouldn’t benefit for those clones your f1 is using. That’s my 2 cents.

As far as I know, the f1-f4 shatter abilities are meant for your current clones up, and if you use f1, your current clones should be marked for f1, and f2-f4 shouldn’t affect or count them at all.
So, let’s say they implemented the way I described instead, where your current clones get flagged for f1 and will not be affected by f2-f4. Won’t that confuse the player? Maybe they’ll activate f1 and f2 at the same time, and then notice that f2 did absolutely nothing because the clones are all marked for f1. Wouldn’t a .25 gcd prevent that instead?

Please expand and explain why you think otherwise o.O.

That implementation will not confuse the player, because we are assuming that they are halfway competent at playing the mesmer class. Part of playing a shatter mesmer is being able to shatter, pop out more clones, and do a second shatter while the first clones are still running to the target to shatter. This should be possible without causing some sort of exploit that makes mind wrack count clones from another shatter into its damage calculation.

The way the exploit worked was as such: Clones were produced for f3, then shattered. While the clones were in transit to the target, clones were produced, and shattered with f1. The f1 shatter counted both sets of clones into its damage calculation, causing extremely high damage.

The fix to this is obvious, you simply prevent one shatter from mistakenly counting clones that have already been earmarked for another shatter, just like you said. What Anet did is a common enough fix in coding that is used if you want to be lazy, and if it won’t affect the rest of the program. Instead of actually fixing the problem, they changed something else that allowed the problem to be resolved. Unfortunately, they didn’t seem to consider that this change has a very bad effect that is completely unrelated to the bug, and has never existed in the mesmer class, namely needing cooldowns between using shatters.

Overall, while Anet could have simply fixed the bug, they didn’t. They took the lazy coder’s way out by changing something else that happened to affect the bug, and gave mesmers a good strong kick in the family jewels at the same time.

Yes, because it’s absolutely vital that mesmers be able to shatter, pop more clones, and shatter again within a quarter of a second.

There isn’t a single ability in this game that you can expect to be able to counter that takes a quarter of a second to work. If someone’s using an ability you don’t want them to use, don’t use Mind Wrack. If someone uses an ability you don’t want them to use after you use Mind Wrack, pop more clones and use a defensive shatter; it’s gonna take them more than a quarter second to use that ability, and a quarter second is all the time you need.

Kormir vs Trahearne, and the opposite

This doesn’t make her bad, I felt this was a more realistic approach to storytelling as far as her character arch is concerned.

To be fair, Kormir did a lot of things behind the scenes. So I can sorta forgive her.

Trahearne is just unpleasant though. Sure Kormir became a god, but Trahearne is very rude to the player and he thinks the world revolves around himself. I’m not saying that to make fun of him, but because Trahearne’s dialogue actually is incredibly rude. Play through the story again and read what he says if he doesn’t make you fall alseep.

Kormir is miles better than Trahearne in my opinion.

Agreed, I’ll have to catch the instances in Trahearne’s dialogue but he is a bore. I can understand his reservations about leading the pact but there were so many times I wanted to ask him if he would like to go home

>Monsters attack Fort Trinity
>Automatically assumes they want him and only him.

Just an example.

Zhaitan’s army is basically, the guy at the top does 99% of the work, he’s got some semi intelligent underlings but they can’t work together at all. So from Zhaitan’s POV, take out the Pact’s leader and they’ll run around like headless chickens.

My main is a Ranger and we now have a perma 25% run buff, my other is a Necro and the same thing (both were leveled before that patch)….

It seems EVERY SINGLE CLASS has a way to stay at 25% – 33% 90-100% of the time EXCEPT Mesmer…

How do you all deal with that? As is you are FORCED to use a focus and use a worthless trait that has NO secondary passive or functional skill like so many other classes as well.

It is just so nice to be able to get from point A to point B & C fast and without having to gimp myself because I am FORCED to use a specific offhand.

I can only imagine what you all go through in WvW or Pvp being unable to get away or catch anyone who wants to leave.

So I ask again how do you all deal with being the slowest class in the game?

Second slowest.

Guardian has to take an awkwardly-built 2-handed weapon, a trait, and a utility slot just to get 66% swiftness uptime. They have no other movement speed increases, no viable non-melee attack options, and no reliable skills to teleport, self-launch, or otherwise get away from enemies. Mesmers at least have blink.

Yes yes Guardian can tank to an extent, but if everyone except you is running away and you can’t follow them, you’re gonna die.

This isn’t to say mesmers don’t have it rough in the movement department, but it could be worse.

Any good weapon skins for the Hammer?

Well, I personally am quite fond of the Ice Breaker, which is the HoM hammer skin. If you don’t have enough points in your hall of monuments for it, I’d go with the Glyphic (Asura/Maguuma explorable area), Candy Cane, or Anchor skins.
