So they should just let some Professions be overpowered and others underpowered?

If balancing has to be done then do a complete over haul of traits and abilities for PvE and a completely separate one for PvP.
The worst thing a MMO game can do is try and balance PvE and PvP. Anet even tries to go a step further and adds WvW balancing. Every time you balance something in PvP it messes up things for PvE. Not everyone plays both PvP and PvE so doing this can alienate both sides. If balancing has to be done then do a complete over haul of traits and abilities for PvE and a completely separate one for PvP. The constant tweaks of damage abilities is not new to the MMO world but it quickly gets annoying when every patch another class comes out on top until the next patch.
tldr: Don’t try and balance PvE and PvP…and WvW. It’s not going to happen.
The throwing up after eating a bunch of candy (that gives you a speed boost) has been in WoW since the first Halloween event. Funny none-the-less.
Watching the video where the kid says “bunker rangers are OP” really makes me laugh. He should have just said that he was a warrior that keeps getting killed by hunter pets when he stops to channel hundred blades. Between pet not able to hit a moving target and arrows constantly missing, any class can kill a ranger by just jousting.
I have been unable to find a niche as a ranger…
Ranged damage = warrior/thief
Melee damage = warrior/thief
Healing = guardian/water ele
I thought that pets would be the calling for ranger so I put trait points into BM. But now it looks like pet damage will be nerfed, so what am I supposed to do? My condition damage is capped when in a group using a shortbow and is constantly removed in PvP. If I spec to do upfront damage then I have no armor or hitpoints. I just don’t understand what I am supposed to do with this class other than reroll.
Not very sure about this. It’s good to reward player but it’s the low achievement players that needs MF the most.
It wouldn’t stop new players from wearing MF gear but as time went on you would have to wear less and less due to accruing achievement points. Lets face it even with a ton of MF the drop rates are still very low but this would be a bonus and give people another reason to play and do things that award achievement points.
I don’t mind grinding if I am going to get something out of it other than grays….so why not make every 100 achievement points = 1% magic find? That way people that have played longer get a little bonus and new players have reasons to gain achievement points other than just the normal part of progression. It will allow people freedom to not use MF gear in instances and still get some MF benefit. I don’t think this would be too overpowered as they have normalized the achievement point gains. Any thoughts…
It is pretty obvious that it was a sales strategy to separate GW2 from WoW. GW2 sold itself as something completely different than other MMO’s. Luckily threads like this will allow them to bring back the Asian themes without looking like they went back on their word but rather that they are producing content that players ask for. I doubt this will happen while WoW is still focused on an Asian theme but eventually a new expansion will come out which will allow GW2 add content that isn’t conflicting with another MMO.
Any servers with the vendor npc from this event available?
So I did my daily level 10 fractal run tonight and was happy to see that I received a ring out of the daily chest. I went to equip it only to realize that it was the same ring that I already had which is tagged as unique. Perhaps a code should have been put in the game that doesn’t allow you to receive unique items that you already have in your possession.
I was able to make 2 of the 3 event days, but had to go to work on Sunday. I don’t remember reading that there would be precursors available if you completed Sundays event, but I could have missed the post. If you don’t want to give all players that currently have a registered copy of the game a similar chance to get a precursor, regardless of whether or not they had to work on Sunday, then how about putting up a non-trade-able version on the trading post at a reduced cost. Thank you.
To clear some things up…You paid $60 for this game and pay no monthly maintenance/upkeep fees so in reality you bought this game as is e.g. Skyrim. Sure you can complain all you want but ANET doesn’t have to change anything about the game that would hurt their main goal = making money. If that means less programmers to modify content then they would be well within their rights.
I am sure most people can agree that bots are linked to gold sellers. Well don’t buy gold and they won’t be around. You can only blame other gamers for funding their ability to buy more accounts to bot. Sure they hurt the marketplace, but in reality they only hurt the sellers by lowering the prices of goods. I don’t farm the marketplace for goods to buy and resell at a profit otherwise I might be mad too.
For those that bought the game thinking it was all about end game then I feel sorry for you. If you would have taken a second to read beta reviews you would have known what you were paying for beforehand.
People obviously don’t know how the anti bot code works….If you farm a certain area for an extended period of time you get no loot drops. So when you see 5 bots farming one area after approximately 30mins they get nothing (maybe gray drops). If anything the increased amount of tradeskill drops is a bonus because it lowers the value of them which helps make crafting easier. Yes the regular person can’t farm for hours on end in a certain area to get tradeskill drops either but that is not what this game in about. Mobs are almost instant respawn so it would be ridiculous if you could farm trolls for powerful blood all day without any diminishing returns. But if they added an extended respawn timer people would complain about that. So just like the bots you farm an area for 30mins and then move on. If you think there is a magical way for ANET to get rid of ALL the bots you are seriously mistaken.
There are a few posts stating that there are other F2P games that are better than this one and don’t have the issues. Well I have played Diablo, Aion, and even Everquest. All these games have issues with content, bugs, balancing and bots. I would be complaining if I had to pay every month to play but considering that I don’t then its just a waiting game. I even play a ranger with the nerfed short bow auto attack. If I get annoyed with any aspect of the game I just log off and play something else. But at least I know that I won’t have to complete a raid or instance to stay effective in the game. If you want to feel entitled to complain because you paid an outrageous sum for the game then there are other games like WoW to fulfill that need.
Why are the forums full of complaints about bots, RNG, and grinding? Do people understand that this game has no monthly fees and no tier gearing system other than skins? Here is a sticky list of Q & A that should answer most topic posts:
Q. Why hasn’t Anet got rid of all the bots!?
A. The bots have no real impact on YOU. If you need a mob for an event you only need to tag it to get credit. And there is a anti-farming code in place that keeps bots from having an advantage over YOU from farming a certain area hours on end. Sure they will use the gold to sell online but luckily YOU have the same option to buy gold without the chance of losing your account via the marketplace.
Q. Why isn’t there a set recipe for precursors?!
A. Precursors being RNG via the forge is good for the economy. This keeps trade supplies moving on the market and gives people a reason to farm nodes. If you don’t like tradeskilling or farming then you are more than welcome to buy gold via the marketplace and buy the items outright. But this game has no monthly fee so there is no real life monetary loss if you don’t get the item right away .
Q. Why is there so much grinding for karma, money, dungeon tokens!?
A. That is the end game. This isn’t a monthly fee game that provides game changing upgrades via raiding. At level 80 and full exotics nothing changes except how you look. You don’t have to play everyday to stay caught up with everyone else and you aren’t missing out on something that would make you a stronger character if you choose not to grind. And once again if you want to look pretty without farming there are gear sets for sale on the marketplace.
Summary. You are playing a game that’s only income is the marketplace exchange and the original purchase of the game. There are going to be certain things that they won’t provide due to financial limitations. It should be apparent by now that ANET doesn’t expect you to play one character at level 80 forever as they have created great stories for each race. But the best part about all this is that you don’t have to play 10 hours everyday to enjoy the content and no one is complaining about your gear because the stats are trivial. So enjoy the game for what it is and take your time after all you aren’t paying a monthly fee.
