I really like GW2. It’s awesome, beautiful and has a lot of character. I noticed though that I’m running into the same issue as other MMO’s. Although you have a primary quest line and area quests, I miss the mechanic of the primary quest standing out over all others and having that chance to hit a bonus (GW1).
Here’s a couple of suggestions I wouldn’t mind seeing:
- Global Quest Line: A story driven quest that all characters relate too (variations depending on class/race) and is part of the main expansion you own. On the main map (even if you zoom all the way out), you would see the markers as you hit them (not before). This shows a character direction and when people ask for help, this is the quest line that people ‘remember’ trying to complete. (All and all, it would be similar to the quest structure in GW1 but with much more variability that came with GW2).
- Bonus: In any instance of the global quest line, you have the ability to achieve the ‘bonus’ (even if a bit difficult). This gives those who want to achieve more then a single goal and also brings people back if they didn’t get it before. This can also be added as another achievement to reach and show.
- Character Quest Line: Keep the current system as the ‘character’ quest line. This gives options to what you’re aiming for. Area quests are a dime a dozen, but having a global and character quest line give multiple options for direction each session. Also, the character quest line gives the character more control over his personal goals of achievement where a global quest line invites more grouping and guild events.
I know this isn’t GW1 and I don’t want it to be, but there are certain things that are worth expanding on from the original. Plus I’m noticing that focusing on the current main quest becomes faded, especially where you finish a quest, the next is a couple of levels higher and you’re main goal gets side tracked and becomes doing area quests (which kind of draws from the fun really if you have to do them just to take on your next goal).
What do you guys think?
Hello all,
I keep looking for another weekend where you can invite a friend, but it seems a little long in between (or I’m just not finding the option anywhere).
I’d suggest that like GuildWars, bring on the 10 day free trial. That way I can invite several that I know that want to try a piece before they buy. They’re really interested, but they don’t want to jump in yet.
Just a thought,
S
