I love these forums, they tell me so much more about the people I am travelling through Tyria with than playing the game ever will.
Sometimes I laugh at the posts, sometimes I roll my eyes, other times I just click the back button.
Personally, I am enjoying GW2, not a lot, but enough to keep me interested.
I have been a (strike down the heretic!!) a WoW player for about 6 years and that game sucked me in and spat me out. I loved it, hated it but kept coming back for more. I just HAD to play. That is exactly what it was meant to do and it worked / works (delete as appropriate)
GW2 on the other hand is a joy to play, not a ‘must play’ but something that transcends the addiction phase and morphs into the ‘because I want to’ phase.
I am neither a FanBoy or a Uber MMORPG player, I would put myself somewhere in the middle, I play to escape the real world, I play to, now and then, meet others to quest with, go into a dungeon with or just have a laugh with.
I really cannot get into the psyche of you ‘hardcore’ players and your ‘must have or I will die’ attitude to any aspect of the game. Take Jumping Puzzles for example, I can’t do them, I am soooo bad. Do I complain or ask for a nerf?….nah, I just don’t bother with them. WvW?….don’t really like it, so I dabble now and again. PvP, Not for me. So….what am I left with? Let me tell you from (and I stress this)….MY point of view:
A huge world full of discovery, a place to meet with friends when I feel like it, a place that will still be there when I feel bored with RL and need a rest, a place to kill kitten if I feel violent.
What more could I wish for? Not a lot.
GG ArenaNet. You got me, but not so bad that I can’t escape, and that to me is perfect!
