I want to do Roaming in WvW… Solo Roaming! Cuz ill manage in PvE =]
So people say Mesmer Thief or Warrior… So can you guys tell me which one is better for what situations in WvW Roaming??? And which one is the best overal
Imo best roaming classes = Warrior Thief Mesmer Engi
Best imo = Warrior/Thief then followed by Mesmer/Engi
This is my favourite guardian 1vX roaming build.
Notes:
1. This is only exotic version, you can add Ascended stuff and try to maintain some key stats.
2. Superior Rune of the Traveller should be used to get the 25% movement speed.
Had a queue all the time before the patch, now no queue anywhere and just PvDoor everywhere.. only time to get decent large scale fights is reset…

Getting rolled by 50+ in the ruins and ofc they already have the +150 Buff.
Result: Mission failed.
Zerging is exactly the wrong way to be capping ruins, and I would be less concerned about how stupid you think bloodlust is and rather how stupid the opposing server is for attempting to do this.
Only complaint from me: the “buff changing” effect on bloodlust is quite annoying/distracting. Maybe just make it switch between 4 different colors (for 0, 50, 100 and 150) without any of the usual buff transition effects.
I am looking forward to see how this mechanic matures and what balance changes come – I saw a lot more people from AG roaming around; giving the enemy a good spanking because they were stupidly attempting to zerg the ruins. Good job ANet, this is progress (sadly you have ruined the game for GvG’ers).
Nightcap servers just cap everything and upgrade it to waypoint. Then just run around with zerg capping all ruins, and waypoint when needed. GG
Also, almost nobody cares about PPT, so they just zerg in ruins to find fights.
You guys aren’t getting my point – With particular builds u can get like 3k condition damage and 2.5k power and be really tanky at the same time, I’m just saying it is IMBALANCED because, the game wasn’t DESIGNED to have players reach these numbers stat wise? I’m just putting this up for discussion that’s all.
Anyone else thinks TOO many stat bonuses are added into WvW?

3. Stacking Weapons
4. Ascended Stuff
5. Orb Buffs
You can basically get something like +800 Power and +4K HP .. That’s like really imbalanced…
What’s everyones thoughts about that?
EDIT: I am fine it’s not as balanced as sPvP, actually i prefer it that way, however – ALL these stats over each other becomes too much!

Will never do GvG in sPvP – Because i want to play with my WvW build and gear.

We have WvW raids every day for 4~ hours…so do most GvG guilds.
Why don’t you just make it that the Orb buff is Toggle-able on and off?

Hi Forums, I’m Colorblind,
And, in addition to other troubles in GW2, it makes it very difficult to see AoEs — especially in the Queens Gauntlet; my experience is very near playing without AoE indication at all, making Liadri’s death-storm AoEs insanely challenging.
I understand that colorblindness is something Anet has addressed in the past, and giving movement to the AoE indicators was tremendously helpful in many situations (Cliffside first fight is a big one for me). Nonetheless, it is still a large obstacle for colorblind peoples.
Without expecting a speedy solution, I would recommend 2 things:
1) Allow for players to choose what color AoE indicators are. While I personally have intensity deficits in red (80% loss) and green (65% loss), I have heightened intensities for blues and yellows — both at almost 200% intensity. Being able to select those colors as an alternative might be very helpful.2) If in designing new content, there are to be AoEs atop green/gray surfaces or surfaces that otherwise might not provide best visibility, have your play testers complete the content with AoE indicators disabled. This will give the developers better feedback as to what the challenge might be like for colorblind players.
Anyway, that’s just my 2 cents. I’m gonna keep trying at Liadri, but speaking honestly, I can only get to phase 2 because I’ve memorized the first bit of the drop pattern, and I know darkness doesn’t befall the same region twice in a row. It’s poopy and slow, but it’s the best I’ve got right now (and I’m totally open for suggestion).
Your writing seems strange when referring to colorblindness… Colorblindness doesnt really work the way you describe it as. Im protonopic (as in cannot see red AT ALL), but have no problem seeing the AoE indicators… Because being colorblind doesnt mean those colors just disappear into nothing, even if you’re completely blind to those colors, they’re still visible, but they are the same colors as other things, such as what others refer to as red, is to me, very close to gray with just a hint of brown… Those intrested can use http://colorfilter.wickline.org/ and find out exactly how webpages look like to those of us with color blindness… But anyway, it’s just a matter of me seeing a gray ring, rather than a red ring… And that gray ring is not of any hue that’s otherwise in the game…
I object to special color blind modes and such because IMO it’s like treating us as cripples… Im a perfectly working human being and have no problem doing any task that anyone else can do, so please dont treat me as someone that cant…

The only reason i can’t finish the gauntlet is because im colorblind, and can’t see the circles at the last boss!
Engineer is largely untouched in tPvP, seeing as your hand was never forced to include Elixir R, or a shield offhand.
Here are the top 2 details, bullet form, on how the old Engineer tPvP Meta has been affected, and what to do about it.
- #1 – Shield 5 – going from a 3s channelled ranged block, with a 2 second (one time) melee stun, to a 2s channelled full block, with a 1 second (unlimited) melee stun.
^Projectile avoidance is basically down by a second, but defense against multiple melee attackers, or mixed attackers (ranged, melee) has been way upped. Previously, if you tried to shield against a ranged opponent AND a melee opponent (ie, Ranger with pet), the shield would instantly stun the melee opponent and stop blocking the projectiles. Therefore, in many situations, the blocking duration has been increased, due to the shield always blocking for a full 2 seconds.
It’s possible to perceive this as a nerf, but it shouldn’t be possible to perceive this as a reason to get your jimmies rustled. There are perks and drawbacks to both versions.
Pistol offhand has always been godly, and blowtorch now has a reduced aftercast. If you perceive shield to be too much of a liability, nearly every exact same build is just as good, if not better, with the pistol – after you’ve adjusted to not go overboard on burning.
- #2 – Elixir R – Going from an instant kitten energy refilling, stunbreak, to a 30s .5s cast energy refilling, non-stunbreak.
^OK. So this ability has lost it’s spot in pretty much every non-support or non-utility build. It’s required to take another stunbreak to be used together with Elixir R. It now is almost always combo’d with Elixir Gun, which now functions as the stunbreak. True support builds that utilize Elixir Gun aren’t penalized at all. This, in fact, has buffed support builds that run Elixir Gun and Elixir R together.
You can surely combo Elixir R with Elixir S, or Slick Shoes. You will likely have to give up a kit to do so, so it’s a less attractive choice – but if the revive utility is needed, a sacrifice for utility can be made. (I personally wouldn’t go for this.)
The long and short of it, is that Elixir R is only optimal in Elixir Gun support builds – so it’s a big nerf to the availability.
So what are tPvP Engineers supposed to do in the meantime with the offensive builds that used to use Elixir R? Slick Shoes. Slick Shoes is a highly devastating, offensive stunbreak, that synergizes amazingly with Grenades. When used to ‘ring’ enemies properly, slick shoes guarantees you enough time to empty a full clip of point blank grenades, and a blowtorch. The stunbreak is highly useful. Everyone needs to learn how to maximize this ability.
The kind of reply i was looking for, to be honest, thanks. And yeah, my main problem with the patch is that offensive builds have been affected by elix R nerf, i’m gonna give slick shoes a go.

move Terror to GM trait.
1. Necromancers are very overpowered where it stands, are there any plans of fixing that? (Maybe change the Burning trait to 2-3 stacks of torment?)
2. Engineer’s Elix R nerf was really overdone, why didn’t you just CHANGE the toolbelt skill to make it less OP? Now Engis really suffer from weak Stun-breaks.
3. Overall Engineer survivability lowered MASSIVELY with multiple patches (elix S nerf, Sheild 5 nerf, elix R nerf etc), address the issue plz?

After the patch with so many buffs and only one major nerf (elixir r) a ridiculous amount of builds are now viable. We now have a stun break on elixir, kit, gadget, and turret… any play style is somewhat viable atm, just have to figure out the nitty gritty and what you want to accomplish.
Great time to be an engi imo.
Actually 2 major nerfs, the nerf to Shield 5 is very big, and the stunbreaks we got aren’t really good because they dont add to our survivability like Elix R did.
So from my perspective, other classes (necro, mesmer, warrior for eg) got buffed AGAINST us, while our survivability got reduced, i feel like Engis are gonna take the old Necromancer place..
The problem with HGH now is that it doesnt have a good stunbreak anymore.. elix S sucks, and Elix R doesnt break stun, and quickness Elixir sucks…

So basically i made this thread to discuss the state of the engineer post patch. I am mainly speaking from a tPvP perspective.
With the huge nerf to Shield 5 and kind of “deleting” elixir R (and HUGE elixir S nerf before that), my Engineer is more vulnerable than ever.
We Engineers already suffered from having low survivability, with those nerfs, engineers are currently in a bad position in my opinion. Anything that isn’t bunker has VERY little survivability.
This puts the Engi class in a bad position in tPvP in my opinion, what are your thoughts?
tbh i think it should apply like 2 stacks of torment instead of burning.. necros didn’t need burning imo

Retal makes most engi builds useless in large scale fights.
Engi aoe: Grenade kit, Flamethrower, Bomb Kit
Grenade kit + Flamethrower get annihilated by retal.
Bomb Kit a little better, but requires u to be in melee range and Heavy armor classes are much better than that. (Not tanky enough, and lacks disengage, if made tanky enough, bombs become useless)

I’ve been 1v1ing phantasm mesmers and finding it really hard to beat them outside a point, like in an open field 1v1.
What beats phantasm mesmer? And how?
votf are you ever running in less than 40? Fighting you creates massive skill delays even tho you’re almost alone. Most of Piken’s run 20-25-30max as far as I’m concerned

Rocket Boot at its current state is really bad, since you CC yourself on use, its jsut plain useless. The only good thing about it is its toolbelt skill, and even that isn’t that good.
In a way to boost gadgets and favor their use over elixirs, how about making Rocket Boots a ground target 1000~ish range leap? That would make it really awesome and people would actually slot it as a stunbreaker!

All sieges should be buffed to hit much harder. You should not be able to stand right back up after getting hit with a cat or treb boulder hitting you.
Yeah when you get hit by a catapult or treb you should pass out and get a black screen for 15 minutes.
Well instead of writing on forum how good the AC buff is, go out and WvW since its reset, and see how broken it is

A-net definition of WvW : World vs. World (WvW) is PvP combat that involves hundred of players.
. We are also addressing their range when upgraded to be more in line with the range of ballistas. Secondly, this change is going to require new tactics and those tactics include things like using ballista and catapults to destroy arrow carts.
You have to put in mind that many of the arrowcarts are in locations were they cannot be hit/destroyed.
The thing is, THE ONLY way to take down walls/gates is using trebs now. And it is soooo boring because it takes hours and you get counter-treb’d (projectiles can’t be blocked anymore too). So you’re stuck trebbing all day without having a single fight!
I thought PvP was “player vs player”, as in characters fighting each other and having fun, not TvT (treb vs treb)
So basically, arrowcarts ARE in fact anti-fun to the majority of the players.
Arrowcarts were strong to begin with, and if they needed anything before, it was a nerf not a buff!

For roaming, i’d say:

3. Engineer
Arrowcarts need a SERIOUS nerf now. They need to be reverted to the previous state asap because at its current state it is BEYOND broken. The poison addition itself is enough to break them, let alone a 80% damage increase !!!!

Then why are arrow carts defending a keep a problem to you? Go zerg v zerg in the open field.
That’s the thing there’s no one in the open field, everyone is hiding in towers using arrowcarts.
Arrowcarts are destroying the game since they’re so broken its ridiculous. Quitting gw2 if this change isn’t reverted, a lot of people are.
What people don’t understand is that it is BORING trebbing/dealing with counter trebs for 5 hours to TRY and find a fight inside a keep or something.. people want to fight CHARACTERS not siege all the time..
