Anyone got a half-decent PVE Condition Build to mess around with while levelling?

Per the OP we’re only talking about armor. Armor has a much lower impact on your overall stats than weapons or trinkets have.

If this were a discussion on weapons, yes you absolutely want the ascended weapon. Trinkets as well, but they’re relatively inexpensive. Armor is trivial.

This topic is indeed only inquiring about ascended ARMOR, because it is a drag to get. The core question was: do I need ascended armor sets for wvw or will exotics work just fine

I started playing last year with a warrior in Soldier gear and with a shout-heal build, which basically means I didnt die in dungeons… and it got boring so quickly I actually stopped playing for a few months.

I’m working on karma gear and saving my crafting mats for when I get good runes, like scholar or travelers. Grenth gear is berserker stats. 42k a piece is fair and requires no upfront gold. It lets me save badges for weapons and doesn’t pick my pockets. It lets me save my gold for things like runes, bags, and maybe some gems for bank space. So I guess I’m really in half exotic gear if I run with my berserker pieces.

Before spending karma on gear, keep in mind that crafting a legendary requires large amounts of karma (an average of 1 million i think?). So before chugging away karma for items you can get for 5 gold, make sure you arent going to need it for a legendary which costs thousands of gold. I made that “mistake” because I didnt know better at the time :P

I hope not, it’ll be months before I’m in a situation to even look at ascended crafting, but I started playing for the sale. I’m in rares, and not having the greatest time. It works out alright if I can hide in the group. In small fights, it seems to be an issue. I’m working on getting better and enough badges to get better gear. I have the WvW weapons, I just need to settle on an armor stat and get enough badges.

It recommends valkyrie or berserker for nercro back line, and mix of solider with berserker or just full berserker for roaming. I’m debating trying full berserker and just do trial by fire until I learn to play better. That way I can use the set for PVE, Roaming, and blob fights. Then I just need to swap weapons and talents. Hmm….

Title says it all.
Is ascended armor needed for WvW roaming/dueling/zerging ?

Will playing WvW in exotics give me a significant disadvantage, or is ascended just not worth the cost? (if it was just one set of zerker it wouldn’t be an actual problem, but different situations require different builds)

I’m a Fissure of Woe player interested in WvW. I think a big problem for our server’s WvW is the complete lack of organisation or communication, especially towards new players.

I joined GW2 a while back, and I picked this server because… well simply because I liked the name :P

Recently I have been trying to get into WvW because the concept of it really interests me. But there seem to be so many things that I am missing.

• Is there a specific time when ppl WvW? because it seems like the only time ppl are even in a map is between 6 and 8pm GMT+1.
• Which map is most frequented? EB seems to be empty always.

As I have said before our server seems to have a great lack of organisation and communication. Especially towards recruiting and helping new players. Why aren’t the experienced players trying to recruit and train new players? When I type questions in mapchat I usually only get kitten responses from puberal teenagers…. Not really the kind of people that warm me up to the gamemode.

If anyone has any tips for me, all are welcome
Or you can always recommend some different servers if FoW truly is dead, which I hope it isnt

Nice story. It’s like when a couple my friends laughed at me yesterday when I said solo’ing the silver waste champs is easy. I was busy so I didn’t go show them how easy it is (just takes time) but I got comments from, “hahaha you wish dude” to “come do it then and I will record, then every time you log in I will play your death back for you and laugh”. Silly non necros As long as you don’t eat their big attacks (easy) you have basically infinite health…

yeah its moments like these that get me hyped to roll a necro myself

Haha nice story. I remember how once I entered pug fotm at 30 lvl on Mai, and soloed it on necro (but berserk meta) :P Their messages were all the same like you described, ultimately ending with pleading to have their children XD

That must of taken a while using conditions for that fight. Mai trin has condition duration reduction until she has no shield stacks.

Necro is definitely the hardest class to solo Mai Trin on (All other classes can use blocks or teleports to avoid the killshot). So kudos to whoever it was. Ive wanted to try it on lvl 50 but its such a pain to go roll for just for a solo and I dont really want to inconvenience friends while attempting it. And knowing how difficult maintaining lifeforce is going to be i would have to time dark paths perfectly for killshot avoidance.

In my nooby opinion he was pretty fast actually, did it in 5 to 10 minutes I would wager, though I didnt time it

So these past few days/weeks I’ve started to dive into the fractals. Today was no different. I was doing a lvl 10 fractal, not that high for you veterans, but quite exciting for me (lvl. The fractal went as all PuG fractals go, tough but do-able….UNTIL we hit the PuG-archnemesis: Mai kitten Trin.

Our party suffer through 2 wipes, at that point 2 of our players ragequit. No issue, just lfg for 2 new players. One of our new players is a necro sceptical prejudice.
Bear in mind at this point 3 of us have broken armor, on top of that, me being the d*mb*kitten that I am ran in before member #5 was ready, which caused him to be stuck.

So its 4 of us vs Mai Trin… It went as you probably expected, even though we got her to 50%hp, we wiped… Well… 3 of us wiped.

The necromancer stayed alive. And ooooh boy, twas a bad day for Mai Trin. He kited, he jumped, he Death Shrouded, he avoided the canons and he slapped that b*tch over and over and over.

We were watching this glorious show.
At first we were our usual sceptical selves “okej necro, just wipe so we can retry, let it go its fine”
Then we started to joke “lol look at him trying to solo haha, this guy”
And then we cheered, oh we cheered.

This guy was DA REAL MVP
And he flippin did it. It was a beautiful moment.

I dont know if any of you veterans are impressed, but I thought it was fantastic! One of my favorite moments in GW2 and in gaming in general.

So yeah, I will never say “necros are bad for pve” again. My elitist thoughts of “guard/ele” have been nullified. (even though ill still play my guardian cuz he is awesome)

Note 1: I am not naming the player or the server or anything just to respect his privacy, I didn’t ask him if I could post this but I just felt like sharing it. + he seemed like a pretty modest/shy guy so I dont want to be obtrusive

Note 2: After chatting with him a bit he said he was happy with the results cuz he was testign a PvE/WvW condition build. Which surprised me even more cuz I always heard that conditions arent that good for PvE. So thats another prejudice that needs to be revised I guess :P

alright, so you do apparently need a certain level cuz at lvl 20 I can buy guides

standing right in front of the necro trainer in lion’s arch, he’s just saluting me O.o. Tried queensdale as well.. nothing. this is some weird kitten :P Ill use my exp scroll and try at lvl 20 then thought its kind of a waste of scroll

i tried but the trainer just went “hi sup, go away now”. Is there a minimum lvl for trainers as well?

Can I get grandmaster traits without levelling my toon up?
I want to play some necro and thief in pvp but I dont really feel like levelling these toons in pve. In HotM you get everything unlocked right at the start… except the grandmaster traits…

So any way to bypass levelling and just get the kitten trait?

One final question though: I’m a bit confused on the topic of agony resistance.
Are there normal infusions with agony resistance or can I only put agony resistance infusions on Infused rings and backpiece?

I’ve recently started to get interested in running fractals. My fractal level is 3 or 4 right now so I’im still very new to it.

I’ve done some research on the different fractals so I know a bit about the mechanics and stuff.

But I would still love some pointers from more experienced people.

couple of questions:
how/when is the best way/time to get a group for fractals? is the in-game lfg tool the best way? I’ve noticed its quite hard to get a nice pug for fractals, is it because very few people do them? or are there times when there are more people online?
