No effort to make a goodPvP MetaBattle build?

Honestly, “Metabattle won’t make you good at Warrior” is a pretty trashy argument to make – it’s a given as it applies to literally every class in the game, because there’s mechanical decisions you have to make regardless of what you’re playing; I can look up a Mesmer or Ele build off there, but it won’t tell me right off the bat how to manage phantasms or attunements, those are things you only get with practice.

The point from the get-go was to look at the site and maybe get some people actually examining things beginners can use to some degree of success, since that’s 99% of what the site is for in the first place. I’m not naive enough to argue that Warriors are top-tier in the current meta, but it’s a bit ridiculous to suggest that GS/Hammer is the only thing that works, especially if the argument that it’s mostly player skill holds water. Warrior clearly has options and it’s up to the players to make it or break it, but I think it’s totally valid to want more of the class community to support some of the newer folks.

Unpopular opinion time. Yes, I know, you guys will probably call me a noob/filthy casual/PvE scum for saying this. But anyway…

I use an axe/axe/longbow build, based on the build you didn’t think was worth linking. Strength/Defense/Berserker. Sort of a glass cannon, but it kills stuff, [insert proper word here]it. I’m almost always in berserk mode thanks to my superfast axe attacks recharging my adrenaline instantly. (Axe skill 5 is OP in that respect!) And I use my longbow on Skyhammer and Spirit Watch to snipe noobs around the orb/on the floor below me.

I’d love to use a high-sustain weapon combo to go with my axes in Stronghold and on the more standard Conquest maps (Foefire, Kyhlo, Silent Storm, and Niflhel), but it’s nice to have some range when I need it. Suggestions? Should I try rifle, even though I hate the feel of it?

Link that Axe/Axe? There’s a REALLY good chance it’s mine from the timing of this post, it’s just something I’ve tried and had some success with. (Also King of Fires is there by accident, it’s supposed to be Eternal Champion).

Frankly, I posted it because there’s no support for Warriors on the site, and it says right in the page history that it’s there to be torn apart. There’s a Hammer/GS build that “works” but there’s other options and it leads a lot of new players (since seriously, if we’re talking about the level of play where Warriors aren’t viable you shouldn’t need MB anyway) to assume that Berserker is outright garbage instead of an alternate playstyle. As trash as it is, the idea was to at least post something and get people looking at things to see what does and doesn’t work, and feedback is exactly what happened in the comments.

So, I’ve been playing for about a year or so, and honestly, for a game I was pretty skeptical about at first, it’s been consistently meeting all of my standards. There’s a couple things I think could be handled better on a whole, but those are generally stylistic choices or things that are subjective, like class balance in PVP.

But one thing that I’ve noticed both as the person playing catchup in my group and from friends that are new as well; the scaling for event dungeons feels awful. And I mean, really bad, which is a shame because everything else in them is so well thought out – the jumping puzzles, other events like Toypocalypse in the current event, most of them don’t have anything to do with your character level, which is absolutely how events should be tuned in my opinion. WoW asks people to be the level cap to participate properly in most events, but here the idea is that you can contribute and participate meaningfully in as much as you can, except for the holiday dungeons/PVE areas, where you’re typically at a clear disadvantage and dragging down the group significantly. Can there be something done about this? PVP lets you join at level 1 and just bumps your stats based on amulets; I think a system like this, where everyone is guaranteed a similar power budget for holiday PVE, would be ideal.

Something is seriously wrong when...

I mean without downscaling, you’d get things like widescale griefing of lower players, ESPECIALLY for dynamic events and the like.
