Its ok if i smashed your window with a rock then?.. because hey its just a prank. But just deal with it right?
You can’t seriously think that’s a valid comparison.
I remember logging in during the stick figure one. At first I was wondering if the graphics had messed up somehow~ Good times.
what a crappy idea. total dislike. dont like it. i see the joke, but a forced joke upon us is foolish not funny.
ESO starts to get more and more attractive.// EDIT: ok i see log off and log on turns it off. at least something. it´s ok if others like it. have them see the world in that “funny” way, just dont hassle me with forced premature jokes please. thats in my eyes a form of customer disrespect.
an option would have been to have 1 hour bobble head after the login and introduce some tonics for those who like the effect.
by that way ppl would have a good laught with the effect wearing away after some time but leaving it to the player control to extend the effect.
taking away control about appearance or length (even if the effect doesnt shows now on my client, you still control how my character is shown to the world) is a form of disrespect. full stop.
Get off your high horse. You’ve been pranked, deal with it.
I for one have had a splendid day~
Wow….. so much negative. This extremely mild compared to some of the things done, and quite humorous to watch. Some of you people are are way too uptight.
Just because some of us would like an option to turn it off, and so we gave feedback to devs for the next time they do something like this, it doesn’t mean we’re all upset and negative. I’m not upset, i just don’t get it why they tought not including a turn off option would be a good idea.
It’s for one day.
You realize the amount of time to code a disable, test it, and push it would take longer than just dealing with it for the day? They have better things to do than waste time and effort on that.
Besides, it wasn’t you I was aiming at. Interesting that you felt the need to respond though. Psychologists would call that defensiveness a direct result of feeling guilty…
chuckle
So it’s ok to put bobbleheads for one day, but putting an “turn off” option would be a waste of their time and effort?
It’s a prank. Pranks should not be optional.
+1
And why stop there? Go full Goldeneye N64 DK mode with huge arms as well~
This is a fundamental power abuse by the Devs; by playing an April Fool’s “joke” on the community, when the community is not able to do so on the Devs.
Poor judgement Devs, very poor judgement. You can prank them too though. I’ll give you an example.
You: “Hey devs, I’ll buy gems!”
Devs:
You: “April fools!”
Devs:
You sick, sick man. comforts devs
Where’s the button to turn this childish prank off. The humor doesn’t even last through one event.
You’re gonna have to endure through the day. Terrible, I know. Watch the blood pressure.
Makes it even better that people are actually getting mad and demanding it turned off. Guess you could say they’ve got big heads.
My day has been made.
Give me a tonic to shrink my head to normal again please, can see the joke but gets annoying running around for some longer especially with my ranger pet heads blocking half the screen.
Why the long head?
It’s N64 Goldeneye all over again. Gief tonic!
No fun allowed™
Shrink your head down two sizes pal, it’s only for a day. I for one can now die happy.
It feels more like a tweak/fix patch than a feature patch.
I can’t believe majority of people don’t want Personal Stories to return.
It was a better platform to give good challenges and story telling than Living Story content.
It gave no good challenge, “retry from a checkpoint” just respawned you with all the mobs still dead and let you run off and continue. It gave no good story telling, the cinematics from GW1 were vastly superior to the lifeless two-character conversations we have as “cutscenes” in this. Not to mention the personal story is designed as a single-player thing (or so it looks). I never want it to return. Ever. Give GW1-style multiplayer missions that are actually a challenge, and with proper cinematics actually competent of telling a story, and actual failure on party wipe please.
What would be their purpose? They would essentially be nothing but bling because of all the waypoints and much faster ways to travel. Honestly I’d rather there be no waypoints so we’d actually have to travel around the world, it’d feel bigger and more immersive that way, but I doubt they’d remove them.
Would be useful. +1
Someone call Trahearne!
What do the unyielding Ascalonian ghosts and the “Guild Wars 1 was better” crowd have in common?
Answer: Everything and they're both right.
OBJECTION! Who is this “we” you speak of? Could you present evidence proving your claim that the majority oppose the changes?
Huehuehue, keep telling yourself that while i wipe my monocle and fill my bed sheets with gold.
To be honest, if it wasn’t theoretically the sequel to GUILD WARS™, I wouldn’t bother with this game. But I’m hopeful that a lot of the first season of the “living story” and many of the questionable design choices were mostly beginner’s mistakes that will be made up for in the future. Sooo.. I don’t really think it has been going in the right direction at all, but I’m.. Hopeful about the future. And aside from many of the bad points this game have, it’s pretty fun.
GW1 style missions
There should’ve just been GW1 style multiplayer missions for the main story etc in the first place. Personal Story is just plain bad, it doesn’t feel like it’s your story and I facepalmed so hard my hand went to the other side of the room when I realized you can’t lose. “Retry from a checkpoint” = Get respawned a few steps back with all of the mobs still dead. Oh, you died? No problem, there ya go pal, you’re alive again. Now go get em, champ.
Unlikely. Think of what playing a new character would be like.
Treaherne: Welcome to Orr.. A land of undeath and suffering..
Player: Uhmm.. Treaherne.. Zhaitan’s been dead for over a year.. It’s over..
Treaherne: /sobs What am I supposed to do now..?
Put your monitor next to a mirror.
I’d like them to bring back Dervish class + Scythe weapon.
I’m indecisive about choosing a class.
Welcome to the club.
Steam creatures were made by Scarlet.
There’s also a segment of the Asura personal story (Infinity Ball path) wherein the player character is a world-conquering warlord in a parallel dimension, who uses steam creatures.
It’s interesting that the other-dimensional Shodd has the title “Grand Vice Admiral”. Isn’t there a Champion Steam Ogre at the very top of the collapsing Thaumanova Reactor, at the point where reality is collapsing and dimensions colliding? I feel like they are supposed to be multidimensional invaders leaking into our dimension.

I prefer Tengu.
Well i’ve dropped 1500+ hours into this game and im already bored.
Already?
Out of combat you are all carefree and stuff and can use extra muscles to speed up your travel. When you get in combat you must transfer those muscles to other regions of your body to charge up your skills. Don’t question it, it makes perfect sense, trust me.
Just build me a bridge to the Crystal Desert and I’ll be happy.
3/10
Pretty bad. I appreciate the effort, but.. Yup. Pretty bad. A nonsensical story that felt completely random and out of place in the game until they shoved you-know-what in there at the end.. Wasn’t particularly interesting and the random alliances didn’t make much sense.
This x 1000. We need Ritualists back, along with Cantha. And playable quaggan race.
They could scrap up Cantha if only they would give me my Ritualist.
Unfortunately I think we will never see Ritualists due to the fact, that the Engineer is some nasty perversion they made out of the true Ritualists ( or their mechanics ).
I also wish they bring back Dervish and Paragon, though until we go to Elona (if ever) I don’t see how that would happen.
Hopefully they saw my brilliant suggestion in the Cantha thread and have begun moving sand from the Crystal Desert into Kaineng City so the asian community won’t be offended by the architecture when we go there.
I believe I have the perfect solution. The Crystal Desert is objectively the best area in the series, so what we do is we bury Kaineng City in sand blown from the desert when Kralkatorrik made his little trip down there. The conflict about architecture would be solved and we’d have two Crystal Deserts to explore.
I stopped playing after a few weeks when it first came out, got back into it recently because I got nostalgic memories of GW1, and now I’m hooked. I suggest you try it out again at least. As for comp not handling it, if you turn all graphics down you can get some pretty neat results on lower end hardware. I got it running just fine with a low resolution and graphics so turned down they literally looked like GW2 : RuneScape Edition on my old laptop.
Come to the south-east and help me dig a tunnel to the Crystal Desert so I won’t have to go back to GW1 every time I want to hear the best music in the series.
The pale tree being a champion of Mordremoth would be a pretty awesome twist. It would also prove the Nightmare Court right in that Ventari’s tablet has turned them away from their true nature.
They should hold off Ring of Fire until some major confrontation, possibly the last place we go before we move on to Cantha/Elona/a new continent, if that ever happens. Both as a throw back to the original where it was the location of the final missions and because it has a fitting atmosphere for some epic final showdown.
As if Tyria didn’t have enough monstrous abominations threatening the peace already.
