Actually, you can still use them (at least SweetFX). Apparently, the launcher just isn’t being rendered correctly, but all the elements are there. So you just can’t see it, but it works.
How then ?
Give it the time it usually takes to initialize. Press Enter. Wait for it to log in (maybe 2 seconds) and then Enter again.
Alternatively, you can also click where the buttons are supposed to be, if you know where they are and want to have some fun.(This assuming your login information is saved)
Thanks, man. That actually worked. (y)
Signed.
I have yet to use my backpack (still can’t decide which of my characters to use it on), but I can see how it can be annoying to other players.
My suggestion: Make it like the Salvage-o-Matics – only the owner can hear it. Oh, and maybe a way to toggle the dialogue bubbles? I’ll personally enjoy it every now and then, but I’d like not having to see it when I don’t want to.
So the animations were temporarily removed to be worked on and reincorporated in a way that allowed them to perform normally in the game but to stop (or maybe change) during cinematics. But getting to a place where the animations could be configured on a more fine-grained basis took more time than anticipated.
So the fact it was officially stated some time ago the animation missing was a “bug” is now officially countered with the fact it was removed.
Was kinda hard to sell that an entire frame set of animations going missing was due to a “bug”.
Yeah, it being a “bug” was very strange. But I could go with Gaile’s explanation; I think it’s reasonable. I’ll take it as one of those “we’re upgrading to serve you better” things.
I bought it. Lol. Just wondering, can you actually hear other players’ backpacks? Or does it work like the Salvage-o-Matics where only you can hear them?
Also, a suggestion: maybe they can be silenced when we hide our backpacks?
Yeah, you can still hear it from other players, and they are very loud.
Dang. Well, hope Anet fixes this. I’ll probably love it (haven’t used it yet), but I can see how it can be annoying to other players.

All I have to say is thank you for listening. Faith somewhat restored.
Just, if I may suggest/request/beg, please don’t do things without second-guessing the players first. The way you guys have been doing things is this:
1) Update game/Intro new stuff without second-guessing players.
2) Players pitch-fork-and-torch you guys up. White knights do what they do best (or worst, depending on how you see it.)
3) You guys come back with “Working as intended”.
4) Players get angrier. White knights blah3.
5) You guys fix stuff.
6) White knights go, “See? You haters are wrong, Anet is right, as usual.”
7) Repeat step 1.
So please, can you guys consider your updates/new items carefully before you actually implement them? Again, in case you guys or the faithful white knights missed it: I am grateful for the update. Thank you.
I have to disagree. Firstly, I’d been waiting for this exact stat combo (been using Rampager’s up to now).
Secondly, for vets, sure this might be a PITA, but how about new players? New stat combos help with the game’s longevity. (FYI, I’m in the we-loathe-the-NPE-update camp, if that helps.)
I’m just waiting for the white knights to come in and justify this brilliant development.
I moved to Wayfarer where the Maw event was active. I stood with the zerg and all of a sudden my minipet popped out. Almost everyone seemed to have one. Might I just say the same scenario happens with Tequatl, and an even bigger zerg, for me at least.
Exactly my experience too. But I knew I shouldn’t have felt too happy when my Mini Teq appeared – I jinxed it for everyone. :/
In beta they actually did a continuous survey. I was quite surprised when they removed it at launch. I hope – suggest – that ANet start doing surveys again. After all, after 2 years, it’ll be good for them to gauge how well their game is being received and perceived by both new and seasoned players to help with their future decisions.
There is no FIX for this….it’s designed to keep minis from destroying Sever performance and I’m glad they thought enough to put the limitation in there. Much better than the GW1 solution where only the first X number of players with minis out got to show theirs….
Your claim that this performance saving feature is “outrageous” is kind of outrageous…
I hope you’re being sarcastic. A very simple fix would be to hide everybody elses minis but your own in high population maps.
no… cuz then it would need to be done client side, which will open more problems in the form of hacking / duping.
It worked fine just before the update.
While I agree with OP, it’s not something anyone can control or change. Humans get jaded, angry. I try to not look at “how” things are said, but more on “what” is said.
White knights in this thread “who don’t give a flying kitten if a player leaves” can’t stop for once to think about the “why” of megaserver.
Ah, thanks for that. Yeah something to do with t. Tried spacing after/before punctuations, but doesn’t seem to work. Meh. XD
I’m hoping this is just a bug, or like what Behellagh said, someone accidentally “turned the culling knob up all the way”. First day though, so I hope it’ll get fixed sooner than later.
Btw, what’s up with the “kitten” in my OP? It wasn’t anything vulgar at all. o_O
Yeah I think it’s the binding thing. My Mini Teq was fine before I bound it.
Whoops. Just posted the exact same issue in Tech Support. Yeah, totally hope they fix this.
+1
“Miniatures have been hidden due to rising player population.”
Dear ANet,
I understand what this is for, but can you guys please just hide other players’ minis and not mine? Defeats the purpose, doesn’ kitten
Cheers.
P/S: Not sure which forum this should be in; feel free to move it where it belongs.

@kokiman: Haha. I know how dumb that sounds. I was pretty tired from work, so my mind wasn’t thinking straight. Doesn’t happen often, no worries. :p As for my trust in Anet, I’ve been with them since GW1. And while they’ve had their ups and downs, controversial decisions, I’ve always been their fan. So that trust is something that they’ve earned from me. Hope you understand.
@lordkrall: Agree.
@LordByron: “Nobody” is an overstatement. I, for one, salvage everything I get nowadays from my daily world-boss hunts. Anet know players do this, hence the salvage-o-matics.
Totally agree with you guys. There a lot of useful items in there, and I’ve bought some of them.
What I meant was, I’ll stop buying stuff with my real money. I’ll just convert gold to gem if I ever need anything from there.
And nah, I don’t think anyone can get a refund. It’s my fault for not doing the math first and trusting them the way I always have. And, mind you, I don’t feel angry or anything. There’s just this “numbness”, if you would. Disappointment.
I’ll still keep a lookout on convenient items in the store, sure. But I’ll be more careful, and not purchase with real money anymore.
Cheers.
Scam, rip-off, honest business… Call it whatever you want. I bought it yesterday after just coming back from work, tired and all. Saw that on the TP, remembered how I love the copper version, charged my card for the gems and bought it straight away. That’s how much I trust them with my money.
See, I’m one of those who buy my thousands of gems with real money. Suffice to say, that will be my last buy, at least with real money, until they fix this.
So I can’t join this boycott; I will however boycott the entire BLTP.
Cheers.
Interesting. Gap Waypoint in Kessex is also flickering. Guess the influence of whatever this is is quite big.
I’m posting this as a bump. This seems to have started happening since after Halloween.
Pretty much else have been said by everyone above. So, yeah.
SUre once in a blue moon they get hung up, but pfft, bad pathing is nothing to cry about.
Uh huh.
Careful, if you dig that hole to deep you may not be able to get out.
Actually, I’m with Tassy on this one. Heck, I just changed my build to using only Flesh Golem as I found my minion build made things a little too easy for me. Heck, even not using minions I still find things a little too easy for me. Sometimes I purposely jump off cliffs just to taste death. That’s how much I miss dying, or feeling of defeat.
Perhaps I’m alone in this, but I come to this forum and scratch my head when people say Necro is broken. People comparing Necro’s pets to Mesmer’s clones, or burst damage to Warrior’s. It’s like saying, “Hey, I bought this pizza, butkittenit tastes like pizza. I want it to taste like chocolate sundae instead!” scratches head
And no, don’t ask for videos or builds or whatever. Believe me if you will, or don’t if you won’t.
