How to fix PP, some ideas for Dec 10 or later

How to fix P/P is simple and always has been – buff Vital Shot.

The entire problem with the set is its Initiative dependency- not just for utility but for even basic DPS. The fact that Vital Shot fails at maintaining adequate DPS on its own means that Unload has to take its place which means that simply maintaining reasonable DPS keeps you Initiative starved. This results in a perpetual problem with the set where you are forced to over-sacrifice damage for utility or mobility and over-sacrifice utility and mobility for damage.

It’s a simple problem with a simple solution, I don’t understand why it hasn’t been addressed yet.

I like this idea. It doesn’t address all of the upcoming nerf issues but it would help.

P/P viability is/was based on being able to stay away from your opponents via dodges and teleports. There are several changes that will make it non-viable since they won’t be able to get away. P/P thieves just can’t stand toe to toe for long.

Until I see how the base initiative gain changes I am hesitant to say if it is a net loss for DPS but I can say with certainty that mobility is reduced quite a bit. I understand why they are making the changes but I am with the OP in wondering if they took this build into consideration. It isn’t one of the more powerful builds to begin with.

I consider myself a casual player and haven’t had much trouble keeping up with the achievements I want. there have been a few that were too time intensive for me but not the majority. Overall I am happy with the pace. It keep the game exciting and new.

If anyone is still following this the following command fixed my issue. It all stems around 32 bit OS and how it allocates memory:

Open your command prompt with administrative privileges and type in the following -
bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVA 3072

After doing that no more problems. Hopefully that works for you as well.

I have been having the exact same issues you have for some time. Large events, rapid use of WPs or even Lion’s Arch if crowded will first cause the makitten ues, then the avatar issues, then a crash. Very frustrating.

I did notice that I have a VERY similar machine setup including the motherboard and I have a 550ti video card. I have re-installed nearly everything, ran various diagnostic tools on all hardware, and tried various flavors of drivers. Still poking around with it but would love to hear any other ideas.
