Want the old maps back?[186 Signs]

YES! Bring them back! I cannot stand the new maps. For so many reasons (see the many forum posts on the subject). Our roaming guild avoids them like the plague….it’s just too hard to find fights.

New borderlands gotta go before WvW is dead

The new BL need to go. ASAP. People are dropping like flies. In the ASTC TS the other day, half the guild members there were not playing GW2, but instead playing different games. And the number of people in our server’s TS overall has drastically diminished. If this isn’t fixed soon, entire guilds will be finding new games to populate.

How many quit playing WvW since new maps?

Im just wondering how many are like me:
-Played 100% wvw & LOVED IT! before the expansion and new maps.
-Can’t handle the new maps becuase they are to big & messy & pve.
-Just play some EB sometimes but… the fun is gone because the maps are empty & everything about WvW just feels….lost becuase of the changes.
-Have actually tested PvE since the expansion but.. well it aren’t so fun as the old-days-WvW.

This is me in a nutshell. I’d put in 2-3 hours nightly. They basically ruined most of what I liked/played. I’m already playing a fraction of the time I used to, and I imagine that even this will taper off unless some change is made to return WVW from its present state of PVE2.0.

On the plus side, I’ve done a lot more IRL, so maybe I should thank ANET for messing up the game…

WvW Season One Rewards Are Unacceptable

in WvW

ArenaNet,
I am sure that over the course of the next week that you will see countless threads popping up complaining about the rewards found in the WvW Season One reward chest. I don’t want to waste your time, but to be blunt something needs to be done. The rewards are… not only underwhelming, but for the health of WvW moving forward I feel that the current reward is inexcusable. Rewards in for events in GW2 (and any game) serve a few key functions:

1. Motivate players to partake in an event.
2. Provide adequate time/reward compensation to players who participate.
3. Grant players a feeling of accomplishment.

The current WvW Season One rewards do none of the above as the same reward for a 7 week undertaking is equal to about 30-40 minutes farming Frostgorge Sound. The implications may be greater than you previously anticipated. The full impact of the lackluster Season One reward should not be underestimated. Many servers in Bronze/Silver league worked diligently to recruit and motivate players who had never participated in the WvW game mode. Given the insignificant current reward getting people to try (and continue to play WvW) will only become harder. If no action is taken, when WvW Season 2 rolls around fewer players will be motivated to participate because the reward is not worth the investment of their time. Furthermore, as I’m sure you can see, the vast majority of the Season One participants feel that the reward was inadequate compared to their time investment. Finally, I think that it is safe to say that the current rewards provide absolutely no sense of accomplishment for anyone.

So, here is my clear and concise recommendation:

Amend the WvW Season One reward chest by providing the following-

1. Provide a unique, worthwhile reward for every player on every server who earned the reward key. Here are some suggestions:
a. An ascended quality back piece with a unique skin that is only awarded at the end of a season. (Think Karka Shell or Fractal Capacitor)
b. Utilize the release of the upcoming ascended armor release and reward players with a single set of ascended armor.
c. A single unique weapon skin (allow each player select one weapon from a set) that is only awarded in the WvW Season chests.

2. Remove the 250 count from the Gold/Silver/Bronze Dolyak finishers and make them permanent until the beginning of Season 2.

Many are suggesting that we as a community simply accept the current reward and move on. However I would encourage you to consider the long term implications of inadequate rewards on the GW2 playerbase between now and the end of Season 2. ArenaNet has these forums so that the players have a clear channel of communication to the developers. Luckily, ArenaNet does listen and is taking strides at showing that with the Collaborative Discussion as well as removing the Flamekissed Light Armor Skin being removed/reworked. Make your voice heard.

Agree 100%.

Look, I understand, Henge of Denravi wants to feel kitten but I am going to give you tough love. It’s ’cause I care.

“Slowed down?” More like tucked tail and hid under the rug. NSP tried to do the same but got called out on it, and their roaming guilds that don’t normally care about PPT actually rose up to carry their server to silver. I still like my pals on HoD and SF, but as whole servers, you’re still a bunch of cowards for tanking to dodge silver league.

Ahh we never had a chance at silver, we were rank 20 before the leagues started and hadn’t been above rank 18 since august. Not sure why you threw our name in there. Complaining about HoD not going to silver will get you nowhere anyway since only a set number of servers could be in silver at one time. So either you would have got NSP or IOJ or HoD but you would have been complaining either way.

My apologies, there were three servers accused of tanking at the time and I think I got SF mixed up with KN (who ended up just being hit with massive population drops instead of actually tanking).

Either way, I’m definitely not complaining. Most of our matches will be against tougher opponents anyways and I much prefer that than roflstomping servers below us. I do, however, question the testicular fortitude of players who would rather dip than play. Why play a game if there’s no challenge to it? To each their own, I guess. I can’t see any fun in buying a game, then immediately setting it to Easy and feeling good about succeeding at it.

Check out the opponents that beat HOD during those “tanking” weeks. I was there every single reset and HOD gave it the ol’ college try but still ended up getting “roflstomped” due to the matchup. Yaks, Ebay and CD made life difficult, to say the least. Even so HOD still gained rank every week. Had AR beaten HOD, you’d have more of a point.

We also had a number of our guildies (FKB) stay up all night this past weekend. It has been quite a push.

Coverage aside, I think this matchup is the most balanced by far. Cosa and the SF crews definitely give our WVW guilds (FKB, MU, VLK) a run for our money. SF is also pretty savy at supply control and nabbing camps just before the tick. I think we’re all learning a lot from each other.

Here’s to 10 more days of fun!

Yeah, I am pretty sure BC commanded for a good 18 hours straight Saturday->Sunday

Does anyone else find this ridiculously sad? Why would you stay up all night and day for a game other than having a legitimate addiction issue?

My (honest) advice to anyone on ANY server is to play hard the time you are on for, have fun, and do not worry about PPT/Scores….You all have a finite amount of time you will play this game, why waste that staying up all night worrying over something that is largely controlled by forces beyond you?

Meh, we’re all playing the same game, albeit to varying degrees. I know a number of friends who think that simply playing an online computer game is “sad.” To each his own.

The thing is your asian crew ruins that. All the fairweathers are gonna PvE now, specially on Tuesday’s patch, until reset. Then monday, same thing will happen. Then the week after that they’ll all come back for the last 2 easy wins of the season.

I feel your pain relative to bronze league. My comment about a balanced matchup is simply referring to when SF and HOD (and GOM) are going at it during peak hours. We’ve wiped and been wiped and loot bags were had by all. Indeed, we’ve had great fights against each of the servers over the last few weeks, regardless of PP or overall score. In fact, I even had fun while getting destroyed by Yak’s Bend, Crystal Desert, etc. for weeks on end a while back. The game is what you make of it.

Cheers to all my fellow WVW warriors. I hope to see you, and cheerfully murder you, on the field.
