Server transfer frustration

A similar situation happened with me. The result is they permanently lost gem sales from both myself and my best friend (who was also affected). We were planning on buying more gems too before it happened. The difference was only 200 gems for the each of us, but apparently that was worth losing all future sales from two customers.

See my post above. Replace Skolar’s name with yours.

But Skolar, did you complain when you first paid for the transfer? You paid the Gem amount needed at the time, and you got what you wanted. So what’s the problem?

Edit – Do you complain when you buy milk at the store one week, then it goes on sale the next? Did you ever buy a new pair of shoes, and it goes on sale the following month?

If they were giving away that pair of shoes for free two days after I bought it I sure would complain!

But the key question here is “When you made the decision to pay for something, and you received exactly what you wanted for said price, did you complain?”

You’re missing the point, the key question is "how does that make you feel when you buy something expensive (relatively speaking) and it goes for free two days later? "

There isn’t anything ArenaNet should be expected to do, because they don’t have any policy in place that says they are supposed to. However, many major US retailers have a “price protection” policy that more or less says if the thing you bought goes on sale within a week or you find a different store that sells it for cheaper, they will refund you the difference. It makes people more likely to commit to buying something if they feel more confident that they’re getting the best possible value for their money. Comparing a game currency to real-life currency is generally tenuous reasoning, but I think in this case the underlying issue of consumer confidence is the same.

Exactly! Good consumer service is the art of making people satisfied so the feelings they have about the company are good. Then they’ll be more likely to buy there again in the future and to recommend it to their friends.

In this situation, I feel I’ve been had and I feel frustrated because of it. The negative response made me feel disappointed. Even if I understand the reasons why they won’t refund, I still have these negative feelings and they are associated with ANet. If a friend asked me 3 days ago if he should try GW2 I would have said “sure man, it has it’s flaws but overall it’s a great game”. If someone would ask me the same question today I’d answer “don’t bother, they don’t care about you”. So overall it’s usually more hurtful for a company to have one unhappy consumer than what it would cost to make him happy.

All this being said, please excuse any grammar errors that may have slipped in. English isn’t my primary language.

Why should they refund you?

If they set a policy of “We’ll refund anyone within 2 days of a sale”..

then you’ll have the 3 day people whining.

And if they increase the policy again..

you’ll have the 4 day people whining…and on and on until you have the month people whining.

Better for them to put their foot down and set NO refunds.[/quote]

I understand it, still it’s more than a sale, it’s free! And 1800 gems is a lot of gems. Like you said I also understand that they have no obligation to refund, but a company with a good customer service do. And you have to understand my frustration…

Hey,
I’m just writing this to express my frustration and disappointment concerning ANet’s consumer service.

Three days ago I paid 1800 gems to transfer server from Dragonbrand to Northern Shiverpeaks to be on the same server as the rest of my guild (so the influence I accumulate isn’t wasted). Yesterday (2 days after I paid to transfer) I saw that transfer to medium population servers (including Northern Shiverpeaks) is free for a limited time. I asked for a gem refund as I find it frustrating to have paid 1800 gems for something that became free 2 days later. Anet’s response: “we understand your frustration but will not issue a refund”. I find this answer really disappointing and a lack of consideration for their customers.

So I do the only thing I can do about it, complain in the forum and never buy gems again.

Thank you for your time.

The only plausible explanation for such an increase in that short amount of time is someone bought a good portion of them and relisted for 130g more.

Of course it is.

760g * (0.85) = 646g. 16g per dusk.

Surely the evil market manipulators determined that the best way to tie up 630g * (Dusks) of capital was to use it to slowly make 16g per dusk over a few days.

Plus the 38g to list each one. Everyone knows evil market manipulators can’t add.

The listing price was included in LFk x 0.85 calculation

Well if you have a supply of a couple of dusks, increasing the price by 130g will increase the price of every single one you presently own and put a new floor price. So lets say you had 10 in stock, that’s 1300g you just made, not 16g per dusk you flipped. Call me paranoid, but I’ve been following Dusk prices everyday for months and these spikes are occuring every couple of weeks and aren’t natural. Last time I noticed one about two weeks ago over night every dusk had been increased by 100g. It didn’t stick because of the dragon chest patch.

How do you explain to have such an increase over night when the supply is stable and the price has been slowly dropping or been stable for more than a week?

I just hope precursors stealthily become account bound so the people who hoard precursors for no other reason than to manipulate the market get screwed.

I absolutely LOVE this idea

It would totally bone gold farmers and tp players who get a kick out of the misery of the vast majority of the playerbase.

ANET PLEASE DO THIS!

The problem with this idea is that it punishes those lucky few that get a precursor as a random drop if they have no intention of making the associated legendary.

Just put an NPC that allows you to trade a precursor for any of the others. So that when you get a precursor it’s account bound and you can trade it for any other you want.

It happened again http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/29185 . The price of dusk has been dropping over the last week because of the change in the dragon chests. Well I went to bed saturday night with dusk being around 630g, I wake up sunday morning and they are all 760g and more without any change in the supply quantity. The only plausible explanation for such an increase in that short amount of time is someone bought a good portion of them and relisted for 130g more.

I finished my gifts about 1 month and a half ago, since then I’ve been following dusk price and playing the tp to get money to buy dusk (wich I REALLY hate doing as spending 30 min per day flipping rares is so boring and feels like work, not gaming! But it’s the only way if you want to buy a precursor and aren’t lucky to get a drop). I’ve made about 400g and been waiting till the price of dusk drops from an event like the karka but this morning when I saw this I just though screw that. I’ll spend my money on mats for vision of the mist, the anomaly and whisperblade to gear my alt mesmer. I’m not buying dusk and thus helping gold sellers and market manipulator. I’ll get Twilight if dusk drops or if they implement a scavenger hunt.

Now my concern with a market that is so easily manipulated: will every shinny item that gets released in the futur of the game get so easily and completely manipulated? If so I’d rather go play another mmo…

Spirit weapons changes

in Guardian

Posted by: Skolar.4801

Well, it has been said many times before, spirit weapons don’t do a lot of damage and are usually not worth a skill slot. It’s even worse now that they can be killed. As I understand that ANet made them killable for pvp, that fact that they can be killed makes them useless in fighting bosses in dungeons. I sometimes have the sword up for a little increase in dps in some fractal bosses or the shield for some protection. Even with yesterday’s patch that added a little bit of hp, the sword still gets one-shotted by some bosses AOE pretty much as soon as I get it up (for exemple the ice falling in the Legendary Shaman Lornarr encounter) making it completely useless.

So I would have 2 suggestions to have spirit weapons usable in PvE boss fights. Either make them immune to aoe so that only direct targeted damage can hurt them (Bosses and mobs will probably never target them) or make them invulnerable in PvE and only killable in PvP by other players.

Thank you,
