If Anet doesn’t change a lot of things before this, I will not buy it. Things like bugged classes, stupid raids, lack of 1vs1 PvP, lack of guild competition, lack of real fame, lack of good rewards in PvP and WvW areas, lack of sense in WvW and PvP for single player and guild both. I will never believe again of Anet advertising. And I bet this thread will be deleted
heh, it probably will be deleted, but we can get some opinions in until then. I feel the same, they would have to change ALOT to get me to buy it.
-And if I did, that would be after waiting 2 months minumum for non-hype reviews.
Was just a litle stab at the endgame PVE
My main point there is that the spells don’t have any depth to them. Small scale fights to me just feel boring.
Even if they do, it will never draw professional players. GW2 is just too simplistic, without any real elements of skill or teamwork. Esport games like Warcraft / Starcraft are both focused on an individual player with incredible micro-talent. Things like League are very teamwork oriented. WoW arena’s probably work because there are a large amount of spells and talents, and using them actually has some kind of impact on the battle.
I just don’t see how you could incorporate running around in a zerg of 200people using 10 utility skills as an E-sport. Maybe like rugby? Just have two zergs rush into each other and see who wins.
Would you buy the next expansion? Why or why not.
If you’re going to spend 2000 hrs on a game, do it properly and pick out an Asian mmo, they’re tailored specifically for that.
hehe, i like the “too balanced” point. Any game developer who read that is probably steaming mad right now. They finally get a game more or less balanced and still people complain.
It is a fair point though, you never really feel like you can run out and do something on your own. Just going with the flow to win battles.
This is an honest question folks. When I look at it, GW2 has everything.
-Enjoyable and rewarded crafting system
-Even levels (finally, the same amount of time from 1-2 and 79-80)
-Variety of races
-Good Graphics
-Balanced game mechanics, not as straightforward as WoW, but not as intense as Tera.
….the list goes on. I can’t think of anything ‘wrong’ with this game, but I log in for 10seconds before logging out and playing something else. Just can’t hold my attention. Everyone I know who baught the game is the same, and i’ve seen lots of posts about it so it can’t just be me. What did this game do wrong?
I guess I no longer have the patience to start a guild, so let the search begin!
Looking for a WvW dedicated or exclusive guild. Basically, I want to join a consistent group of people each night that use voice communication. Tiered of zerging and not really doing anything effective in PvP.
LvL 80 guardian, support specced at the moment, still grinding out the rest of my gear. Willing to switch servers.
What Im looking for…
-EST evenings / week ends activity.
-Vent (I know IM picky, but dislike Mumble / TS / Skype, etc.)
-Small ish guild size – not looking to join a 300man guild, want the same people to be around, get to know folks.
Post a reply or whisper in game. Would be happy to answer any questions
Nutshell
-WvWvW teams
-Mature Community, 17+
-[Sorrows Furnace] server
-Multiple timezones (EST Evenings for startup.)
-Voice Communication (skype for now, hoping to get a server for something)
Startup Plan
Starting a group of 10-20ish people for WvW. The initial time zone will be EST evenings and week ends semi-serious. Just to have people to play with and get some experience in the pvp. There’s a long term plan, but for now I just want to get a little group together to play with, which is what guilds are really all about.
The Long Term Plan….
[Moonbeam] [Aura]
The goal is to have a multi layered, large guild with that small guild feel. When you log on there may only be 10-20 people, but if you happened to log in during the morning, or stayed up much later than you should have, there would be another community to play with. This provides several benefits
-Always people on to do WvW with
-Perks of a large guild without having 100’s of randoms on at a time
-Continual influence in WvW, no night owls having free roam.
To do this the guild will be made up of teams or ‘squads’. Upon joining you will be an initiate, and after a few days can join the team that best suits you. To explain the system best, I put the ranks in order. Note, there will be multiple team leaders, as well as team members with no particular hierarchy.
While people will belong to certain teams, unless the commander says otherwise anyone should be able to join a team in WvW. Hoping for openness between guild members here. If however, a team is really good at playing with each other and feels more members would throw off their coordination, feel free to say a polite no.

Guild Leader
Me, sky! My main purpose here is to pick good natured team leaders, schedule inter team-events, recruit more members, etc. I will stay out of the affairs of established teams unless theres any serious drama / problems.
Team Leader
Picked based on: Activity / Know How / Good Humored, depending on the type of group they want to form. Anyone is free to apply!
Once a team leader is chosen they get to choose….
Time slot – The time they’re most active and can lead groups
Seriousness – What kind of team will it be? A casual, get together for the lulz, semi serious, or a tactical unit where everyone follows orders and strategically hits camps, towers etc.
Size – Is it a 2 or 3 man group with friends, medium sized force or a small zerg?
The team leaders are really the ruling unit here. They can invite who they want from existing members or recruit elsewhere, they have the power to kick peole not pulling their weight or those who are being jerks.
Team Member
Someone who plays mostly during a certain time zone, and has joined a team. Can leave teams and default to member until picking up another one.
Member
A casual player who can’t commit to a steady time or hasn’t found a decent team they like. This rank does not need to represent, and can be on any server.
Initiate
The entrance rank. After a few days actives will be moved to member or right into a team. Kind of a loose pool that team leaders can pick from along with members.
…Summary
While this guild is focused on WvW, if a team wants to run around and hunt Skritt for the evening, do dungeons, or sit around a waterfall and RP thats fine. There should eventually be enough teams that if the group you’re in isn’t doing what you want, there will be another that is. That being said, if you don’t like WvW (and have…somehow read this whole post) another guild would probably suit you best.

I would argue to not change them (nor put time into trying). With the current game mechanics they are as difficult as realistically possible. If you think about it, these events can have 50-100 people in them. Sort of hard to expect the detail of a 10 man raid. As for the mechanics I love them. Perfect blend between the mindless 1234 mashing and having to dodge everything / aim everything (Tera). You can play the game half asleep, while you can also be quick and dodge proper spells when actually trying.
I suppose if the developers could find a way to make an interactive 100 man bossfight, I would take my hat off and accept the changes with open arms. But Im not expecting miracles here, things are good enough as is.
It doesn’t make sense to me, but from experience it happens. This notion of ‘balance’ is IMO non existant. People will always complain things are too easy, or too hard. If you take WoW as an example, they would make things easier when the playerbase complained it was too hard, and vice versa. They could never win.
If you are asking for more complicated mechanics, I suggest playing another game. I don’t mean this in a “oh well if you don’t like it get out!” way, (trust me I hate that bandwagon)". I just mean that the game was released with certain mechanics, if you don’t like them why not play a game with the mechanics you are looking for. If you want a game where you can dodge almost every skillshot, and have to aim shots directly – there are games for that; Tera, Divine Souls, etc. If you want a tank focusing the boss while dps have to avoid fire, there are plenty of raiding games for that.
What Im trying to get at here, is to make the game ‘more difficult’ in that sense, the developers would have to change the mechanics. This double dodge / Cooldown / Tab system limits the things they can do. Really I think people should just enjoy games the way they are (personally I complain over nerfs and buffs, can’t always help myself) or switch to a different game if they’re looking for something else.
Basically – why not find a game that has the mechanics you’re looking for rather than asking ones that don’t have it to change.

These threads make me chuckle. The players that claim they are ‘hardcore’. “Oh this game is too easy, make it harder” “oh this game is for the casuals, we want a challenge”
Until a difficult game is released, then you want nothing to do with it. Why fail at something thats a challenge, when you can play an ‘easy’ game and act like its too simple for you. Lets take some examples shall we?
Aion. Oh sure it was a grind, but the mobs were hard. You had to dodge those spells or you were freaking dead. And to dodge / block you needed to time the end of a 3-4 link chain, all the while hoping more mobs wouldn’t come and end you. Nope, nobody plays that. Too hard. Takes too long.
Demon Souls. People were returning it because it was too hard. Nobody could handle having to die a bunch of times to learn the curves and get to the end. The difficulty scaling in that game was perfect. A dungeon run through the first time could take hours. After you had completed it a few times you could run through it in 5 min. Dodge the assassin there, move away from the rolling boulder there, don’t open said spiky coffin, etc. Nope, too difficult. Not enough checkpoints.
Im sorry but the only ‘hardcore’ gamers are the ones who make it their profession, get sponsors and compete in leagues. Everyone else is just a casual. Its something you do on your spare time for enjoyment, so stop pretending like you’re better than everyone else and things are “too easy” because quite frankly you’re the same people asking things to get nerfed the second they become difficult.

Greetings!
Akali Fan Club [XIII] is currently a small guild looking to add a few more to liven things up. We meet in the evenings around Eastern / Central time. Relaxed attitudes a must, we joke around alot and don’t take anything too seriously. We put real life before the game, and won’t get mad at you for not being there every night, though, we may die a little inside without your presence. Preferably age 18+, though acting well below your age is of minor relevance.
Aims are to get a few more to level, PvP and liven up the guild chat. When I hit cap (some day in the eventual, perhaps probable future) I hope to get a dedicated group of 5-10 for world PvP shenanigans as well.

Adressing the problem of it taking 5minutes to get to a fight.
While I get that the long distance to a fight makes it harder to defend keeps (would be boring if people could just spawn inside one) , the walk time to get anywhere is rediculous. A railroad system would make it easier to get to things you already own. Make it destroyable by the enemy, so they could not only cut off supply lines but transportation lines as well. Maybe cost a few supply to build pre set tracks.
The style would obviously need to be updated to Guild Wars, as a 1900’s steamer would probably look out of place. Electro-carts or cabooses pulled by kittens, whatever.
My two cents.
