I made another very big steel Fellblade replica, check out my step by step here:

It’s 48" long, weighs 9 lbs, and it’s up for auction here:

Proceeds go to the RNG gods and my crippling Black Lion Key addiction. Good luck!

Question:

I forgot to take my initial screenshot of the total, as I had to buy more than 250 of my item to get over 5g, and I hastily moved on to the next stack. I also ended up buying another stack of 250 (because these are items I decided I wanted to invest in anyway). The 500 total probably puts them slightly over 7.5g. Can I just post screenshots of my “items I’ve bought” page accompanied by a spreadsheet that adds up the first X items until the 5g total is reached? (Believe me, this is way more work than I wanted to do too…)

I added one specific rule for weird edge cases like this…

If the case where the current first place winner is not clearly disqualified, but not clearly the winner, it will be the job of the next runner-up to decide if that winner should be disqualified.

If you think that the second place person wouldn’t disqualify you, then go ahead.

Any chance you can alter the Fellblade pic to include something to scale (A meter / yard stick, etc.)? It certainly looks awesome, but can’t really tell the size without something to size it with.

You can check out the step-by-step in the original post.

I found a schematic:

I’m glad to see this idea get some traction!

I think it could be a separate tab on the hero panel, with a confirmation box to use an item. I’d also really appreciate if the bank express could summon an NPC instead of just pop up a window that is very easy to close or walk away from.

Mystic Coins x 500 at 1.8c each = 5.40g

Listed at 12s, for an expected 1,092% profit.

P.S. Working on getting them all to list up, will update.

Two things:

1) You’re at 1.08s, not 1.8c

2) You’re ignoring this rule: “You must buy from sell orders, you may not buy through a buy order.” Be sure to take a screen shot of your Total Price right before you buy.

Alright, I’m in.

Item Name: Superior Sigil of Frailty
Quantity: 100
Total Purchase Price: 23g 99s
Listed Selling Price: 79g 95s

I do not understand your return on investment formula, the total purchase price divides by itself, which will always come out as 1.

In my case (if all sold): (79.95 * 100) – (23.99 / 23.99 * 100%)
= 7995 – 100

Makes no sense to me. But I guess we’ll figure that out after the april 15th.

With the formula, it is:

[(Listed selling price)*(Qty sold) – (Total Purchase Price)]
/ (Total Purchase Price)

and it is not

(Listed selling price)*(Qty sold) –
(Total Purchase Price)/(Total Purchase Price)

Sorry to say, you missed this rule: “Spend less than 7.5g”

In conjunction with the other rule: “From this point on, you are not allowed to buy any more of this item until the contest is over” – I’d recommend you re-submit to enter the contest, preferably using a different item altogether to avoid technicalities.

And, new rules:

  • If you post an attempt to enter once and fail, you get one more chance to re-enter.
  • If the case where the current first place winner is not clearly disqualified, but not clearly the winner, it will be the job of the runner-up to decide if that winner should be disqualified. You have been told!

For items like the Black Lion Trader Express, Merchant, Banker, Res Orb, Repair Kit, or even Boosts, could we have an option to use these from our character menu? Or to be able to have them mailed from our bank?

It’s rather inconvenient to have to remember to take a few on each character to be able to use them effectively.

Great competition, +1

I already bought 5g worth of 2 items but will wait until monday to decide which one to submit.

Considering that there will be some pre patch speculating going on, will entries be disqualified, if their item sells out before the 15th already?

I get the feeling that the highest profits will be found after the patch. I don’t think I’d disqualify someone if the price spiked after they bought but before the 15th.

Couldn’t you just place something with an outrageous price hike then buy it with acct #2 or a friend?

Yes, but that would be cheating.

If you’re willing to spend hundreds or thousands of gold, risking not beating other players or getting disqualified for cheating, why not just come to the source?

Interesting challenge and awesome sword

I wouldn’t have made it a requirement to place the sell order now. Because you already can see how high you would have to set it to even have a chance to win. It would have been better to let everybody decide when to sell.

It’s a risk thing – two people could buy the same thing and one sells it for a higher price, but only the lower one sells out.

Everyone can enter until the deadline on the 14th – the market history should match when you post within a few hours – but if you wait too long then you might not get the best price of the most certain items.

Hello all!

I’m Skye. I make replica props and I’m super excited for the new content drop appearing on April 15th!

In fact, I’m so excited that I’ve decided to give away a Real-Life Steel and Leather Nine Pound Fellblade to the winner of this friendly Trading Post competition.

Here are the rules – Please Read Carefully:

  • Pick any one item to invest in (could be a type of rune, sigil, weapon, etc.)
  • On the TP purchase screen, select a quantity that will push the total price just over 5 gold total. You can dial in an exact number if you wish. Spend less than 7.5g.
  • Take a screenshot showing the total cost. Do Not Forget To Take This Screenshot!
  • You must buy from sell orders – you may not buy through a buy order. Example is below.
  • For that price, buy it – From this point on, you are not allowed to buy any more of this item until the contest is over.
  • Take all that you bought, and post the entire quantity on the trading post in a single “sell order”. Sell the entire quantity at one price. Choose your price wisely. Set it as high as you think you can sell out at by the deadline.
  • Take a screenshot of your “What I’m selling” tab. Do Not Forget To Take This Screenshot! Keep it in a safe place
  • Post your Total screenshot to this forum thread before 11:59pm EST on April 14th.
  • Wait for the Update on the 15th – the markets will react!
  • Before 11:59 EST April 18th, post a picture of your TP history, showing how many of your items sold for the price you set or take a picture of your favourite TP tracker, showing you sold out.
  • The highest positive percent Return on Investment wins!

Entry requirements:

  • The item you choose can be any one thing found on the trading post.
  • On your entering post list your:
  • Full item name
  • Quantity and total purchase price (with “Total” screenshot)
  • Listed selling price (hold onto your “What I’m Selling” screenshot)
  • If your purchase fails, stitch together screenshots and do your best to communicate your entry.
  • Return on Investment formula is:
[(Listed selling price)*(Qty sold) – (Total Purchase Price)] / (Total Purchase Price) x 100%
  • One entry per person – make it count!
  • Multiple entrants may pick the same item, but should have different purchase and sell prices.
  • For a winner to be declared, that winner must have a positive RoI
  • If you post an attempt to enter once and fail, you get one more chance to re-enter.
  • FAILURE to post your SCREENSHOT means NO ENTRY – You have been told!
  • These rules may change for clarification. If you have a question, ask!
  • If the case where the current first place winner is not clearly disqualified, but not clearly the winner, it will be the job of the next runner-up to decide if that winner should be disqualified.
  • This contest is for one fabricated Fellblade – Shipped to Canada or the US (If you live outside of Canada or the US, we’ll work out shipping)
  • If you know that you can’t receive or own a heavy steel Fellblade-shaped object, simply don’t enter
  • Please don’t cheat. Winning entries will be checked against market histories.
  • If you’re willing to spend thousands of gold at a chance at this Fellblade, drop me a line at info@heroicreplicas.com instead, and I will make one for you outright!
  • I reserve the right to disqualify entries for shadyness.

Rune of Adventure? Now with more Power!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Skye Marin.3250

In the most recent ready-up they show a non-sorted list of PvP Runes.

A few things that stand out here:

  • Adventurer has been renamed to Adventure (as Adventurer is missing from the list)
  • the icon for Adventurer has changed to a muscly arm (matches Strength, will probably be changed again)
  • some icons have been updated, example is Infiltration
  • some runes have been re-named, removing the “the”, like Rune of the Fire is now Rune of Fire

Next in the video, they sort by primary attribute and returns the second list shown below.

Here is where things get interesting:

  • Every rune on this list has power as the primary attribute, as they said, EXCEPT Adventure!
  • Balthazar is NOT on this list! That rune is confirmed to be Cond Dmg primary.

This probably means:

  • Adventure’s primary will now be power instead of condition damage.
  • Balthazar’s primary will no longer be power.

This rune is dirt cheap at 4.9s, and is made from platinum doubloons, hovering about 14s. I’d say it’s a good investment. I really hope it gets changed to 25% speed increase on the 6th tier…

I like the idea of having an anti-stealth trait. Either tied to a weapon or beastmastery – your pets can still detect and attack foes under stealth, and if they hit, those foes are unstealthed and revealed for 5 seconds.

in CDI

Skye Marin.3250

Specific Game Mode – PvE

Proposal Overview -
If Ranger pets will always be a persistent component of their class, they must always be viewed as an asset instead of a liability. Pets should not interfere with bosses, draw undue aggro, and should have otherwise predictable behavior.

Goal of Proposal
There shouldn’t be scenarios where you need to stow pets. Activated pet skills need feel active and effective, instead of something that you simply hit once in a while, so should be integrated with a player skill and would benefit from being tied to a resource instead of a recharge. Pets shouldn’t take damage and be downed like most other characters, as most strong PvE monsters can down a pet very easily, which can significantly affect DPS. Pets should stick to your single target very quickly, and attack at a reliable clip, and as such build a resource in unison with the player Ranger.

Proposal Functionality

  • Pets no longer use their skills – instead have a steady, fast acting auto-attack.
  • Add a new resource meter – Animal Bond – if you and your pet land three attacks each on one target, this enables your “Active Bond” attack on that target. Animal Bond points are tethered to a single target.
  • New Active Bond function – Once activated, you gain control over your pet, gaining their skills for about four seconds. Your ranger character plays out an automated leap attack or ranged attack (for example, sniper killshot on longbow, rapid fire shortbow, multiple short heartseeker-style leaps for the axe, etc), depending on their equipped weapon. This function replaces the active pet skill function. After, this skill goes on a short recharge. Traits handles recharge time, protection when you activate these abilities, added damage, etc…
  • Changes to Pet motion – Pets now move very fast, 200% of their current speed, and stick to your target very quickly. Some can shadow step directly to the target, if up on a ledge or on low ground.
  • Changes to Pet downed state – Instead of being completely disabled when on recharge, pets instead do half damage, and earn only half Animal Bond points per hit when on recharge. Pets take significantly less damage from any foe with the Defiant buff.

Associated Risks
This would require a large balance pass on every animal and animal skill. There would be a need to invent new Active Bond skills for every primary weapon of the Ranger, and would require many traits and most signet skills to be entirely re-worked.

It would be worth it.

Your current problem is being mistaken in thinking your current behavior will actually solve your problem.

It seems you’re more interested in sharing your hurt feelings, making unnecessary posts and links with inaccurate claims, and being dismissive of everyone, including those trying to give you helpful advice than working towards a solution. If you continue, you will make things worse for yourself.

Your claims are misleading, your spamming annoying, and your arguments lack substance.

Condition damage - Help team build diversity

in Suggestions

Posted by: Skye Marin.3250

Skye Marin.3250

Objectives:
-Promote build diversity, and effective team build diversity.
-Remove concerns of non-condition builds lowering effective DPS of pure condition builds by stealing stack positions.
-Make sure every stack ever added adds some benefit to the total damage being done.
-Make it viable without being overpowered, considering Epidemic.
-Require no split for PvP.
-Require no big changes to existing skills, nor adding new skills.
(For example: consuming conditions to do a pack of damage is an okay skill idea, but may interfere with the other condition-reliant builds of your teammates, and the skill would need to be added to the game)

Current system:
-Last in, first out.
-25 stacks max for bleeding.
-No duration limit for burning or poison – damage is determined by current instances in order.

Proposed system:

Bleeding:
-Instances of bleeding are sorted by base DPS, then duration.
-New instances get inserted into the order by base DPS, then duration.
-Base damage is the average of the strongest 25 stacks, by base DPS.
-Stacks beyond 25 add 2% extra damage to that base for as long as they last.
Example: Your group piles on about 34 stacks of bleeding. Damage done is the strongest 25 stacks, +18% bonus damage

Burning:
-Instances of burning get sorted by base DPS, then duration.
-New instances get inserted into the order by base DPS.
-Base damage is the strongest next second of burning damage.
-Can now be used on inanimate objects, like carts and barrels.
-Damage per second is divided into four ticks in that second, for more pretty numbers.
-Beyond the first 25 seconds of burning, 1% extra damage per extra second.
Example: 34 seconds of burning does base damage of the strongest second, +9% bonus damage

Poison:
-Instances of poison get sorted by base DPS, then duration.
-New instances get inserted into the order by base DPS.
-Base damage is the strongest next second of burning damage.
-Healing prevention is held constant.
-Damage per second is divided into four ticks in that second, for more pretty numbers.
-Beyond the first 25 seconds of poison, 1% extra damage per extra second.
Example: 34 seconds of poison does base damage of the strongest second, +9% bonus damage

Removal:
-Behaves as before, removing all instances, starting with the newest condition type introduced.

Regeneration:
-Strongest instances are applied first.
-When approaching limit, weakest instances (by Healing per Second) are discarded first.

Epidemic:
-will only transfer the strongest 25 stacks of bleeding (by DPS).
-will only transfer the strongest 25 seconds of burning (by DPS).
-will only transfer the strongest 25 seconds of poison (by DPS).

Vulnerability:
-now adds to the base damage of all condition damage.
-Still caps at 25 stacks.
-New instances with a longer duration overwrite the instance with the shortest remaining duration.

Other concerns:
What if a monster dies too fast?
I feel the real game design objective of a condition build is to be able to pledge damage over time upfront, ignoring armor and protection, with the risk that it may be removed with removal, where the time saved could be used elsewhere, like utility or extra direct damage. Fighting weak monsters is part of that risk. If your monsters are too weak, try fighting stronger monsters. If your monsters have strong condition removal, it will also affect the strength of your condition build. Promoting diversity should be the goal.

PSA: Don't waste your money on Commendations

in The Lost Shores

Posted by: Skye Marin.3250

Skye Marin.3250

If your buying things to toss into forge to get commendations then yeah it’s a huge waste. However if you just got back from farming and don’t need to break down or sell blues/greens then you can get some nice items by junking them in the donation boxs. In otherwords the commendations are a good alternative to salvaging/selling junk items.

Actually, after the first wave of people buying up cheap things to test stuff out, it would be best to sell that stuff at the trading post for a profit.

For example, I was super quick to buy 3 stacks of Chocolate Raspberry Cookies for 1c each. 30 of that level 60 food plus packaging meant 1.34s was 2 tokens, which really isn’t the best deal for earning tokens. Also, takes a lot of clicks. Anyways, they are 15c each now. Also, nobody is buying them.

In terms of stripping the low cost items from the auction house, I’d say this event is a success. In terms of providing a value to the average player, it stinks. Everything can be purchased for less elsewhere.

Captain's Council Commendation

in The Lost Shores

Posted by: Skye Marin.3250

Skye Marin.3250

All the following MF combinations require 1 Donation Packaging (DP) purchased at Miyani for 1s04c:
1 DP + 3 x (10 level 40 and under food) = 1 token
1 DP + 3 x (10 level 60 food) = 2 tokens
1 DP + 3 x (10 level 80 food) = 3 tokens
1 DP + 3 x (level 80 fine weapon) = 8 tokens
1 DP + 3 x (level 80 mastercraft weapon) = 12 tokens
1 DP + 3 x (level 80 rare weapon) = 140 tokens (roughly 50c each)
1 DP + 3 x (level 71 exotic armor pieces) = 550 tokens (roughly 40c each)

At that rate, the Exotic Liongaurd weapons are about 5g each.
Remember you can get the skins for karma north of Lion’s Arch.

There are a total of 8 known recipes:

1 Light + 1 Med + 1 Heavy Consortium Breathing Mask Skins + 1 Karka Shell
1 Light + 1 Med + 1 Heavy Island Shoulder Skins + 1 Karka Shell

Or

1 Karka Shell + 1 Passion Fruit + 1 Passion Flower + 3 of any one Island Shoulder Skin or Breathing Mask Skins.

As of Nov 16:
Chests are 1800 gems for 10, or 250 gems each.
250 gems will get you 1g98s 180 gems will get you 1g42s
250 gems costs 2g77s 180 gems costs 1g99s

Any previously mentioned Skins right now cost about 25s each. Even if they were ~68s each, it would still be cheaper to buy gems for gold, and get your chests by forging them.

Increase Burning ticks

in Suggestions

Posted by: Skye Marin.3250

Skye Marin.3250

I really love seeing dozens of numbers pop up from my foes when I bleed them with many stacks. Unfortunately, when using burning, the numbers that pop, while large, seem too infrequent for me to get a sense of how much damage is being done.

Right now, bleeding does about 40 damage per tick per stack, while burning does about 325 per tick. I’d like to see Burning’s ticks to be divided into four, so more numbers pop up.

I feel a higher frequency of numbers popping up would look better, make me feel that burning is more effectively that I currently feel it is, and would even better simulate that your foe is on fire, like how rapid bleeding numbers simulate bleeding.
