[Choo] PainTrainChoo
[Envy]
For some reason I can’t use the img codes to post an image, and the text is far too long. Did an attachment instead.
Essentially a compilation of a lot of feedback from different sources on Mirage.
I came here to post my support
Having read the thread, it really comes down to the players wanting the support from Anet to have a greater number of options in this game to appeal to all types of users in conjunction to the already existing endeavors. What we are asking is for you to recognise this group of people that partake in gvg style death match fights, for fun, regularly, across all tiers of the game as a subsection of WvW.

I’ll be at EGX, I guess representing the remaining and returning players of Pain Train Choo [Choo].
So I was browsing just for the giggles, and I stumbled upon this.
Guess there’s still one left out there. Can we maybe (please?) get a confirmation whether this is a flip or not? :O
The Mesmer has very, very, very few benefits for using portal just her himself/herself. The fact that there was an unlimited usage for people, now nerfed to 20, means that Anet intended for people to use it in the open world. If it was intended for PvP, then the limit would be 10. If it was intended for dungeons, the limit would be 5. The fact that there is a 20 man limit, suggests that it was made for quick travelling between point A and point B without having the rest of the 20 run through all the obstacles. By having one person run through content/obstacles, the rest of the 20 can be doing other things. Therefore, your proposal for the mesmer only allowed to use his/her portal as a personal checkpoint is… sketchy at best, and essentially kills the intended usage for a skill. Furthermore, your suggestion of how it should be used, “escape from combat, running supplies in wvw, a protection against a bad jump in jumping puzzles, etc.” is… silly. If a mesmer could only use his/her own portal, there are far… far better utility skills that benefit him/herself. In fact, there are better group orientated utilities as well. Running supplies in WvW with portal does happen, but as a group. Again, personal portal is silly.
This is exemplified in WvW, dungeons, and the open world. In WvW if a tower is under siege, it can be difficult for defenders to get inside due to the lack of strategically placed postern gates (like really? Right next to the main door where people attack?) It is then better to have a group support the mesmer and get inside the tower, and then provide a portal for the rest of the group – so that the rest doesn’t have to go through the obstacles. As for taking over keeps/towers, the difficulty to hide and remain hidden/playing a game of hide and seek tag for up to 15 minutes is incredibly difficult – especially if the enemy knows you’re around.
Open world – you’ve got the JP’s. Nuff said – it is made so that those that would have trouble or difficulties have a way to actually complete achievements/explore the open world. Now this is where you have the main problem, as according to your post. You have a problem where you are having trouble completing content, whereas others just skip to the end. Here’s a small problem with portals – as long as there is still time for the portal, and enough charges to allow people through, portals are non-exclusive. If I lay a portal, I cannot stop you from using it. It is not “stealing” the content/rewards, as you are not taking someone else’s property. It is a viable alternative method to completing a given task, GIVEN that in order to get a port, a mesmer has to finish content legitimately by running through all the obstacles, and therefore actually placing a portal and placing it so others can access it.
Skipping content in dungeons is a viable method – stealth mechanisms + portal = smoother runs. Yet it also requires communication and coordination – other requirements and activity that is promoted by Anet. CoF example is silly – there are far more creative uses for portals, such as dredge fractal bombing runs, or harpy jumping, or cliffside hammers/arm seals.
Using portal to bug out/exploit pathing in dungeons – now that I agree with is an exploitation. I’ll give you this point.
Summary: You misunderstand the premise of the portal mechanism, because you don’t understand how the utility works, and why it is currently like it is. In fact, if they found portal to be game breaking, they would have changed it in the very recent overhaul. Portal is a very game changing skill – one with creative uses and great public utility. Your opinion will always be your opinion, but at the end of it, you’re viewing how portal is being used without seeing how portal was designed.
Heya Chauve, I sent you an in game mail based on what I think. Currently working on several different builds, but after I discuss with some other mesmers from around the WvW scene we’ll give an update in the server meetings.
LOL, [SG] you act like you didn’t die over and over to us (while we were GvG-ing another guild I might add). At worst you were a minor annoyance, not even worth much thought. Give us a call for a GvG when you get relevant in WvW
Respect begets respect.
I’d like to thank [Pro] for the great GvG today, those are the types of fights that I love playing GW2 for. Tip of the hat to you guys.
Another thanks to [Pro] for that GvG – great fun despite some intervals between fights. Some of the best fights we’ve had in a long time. -Manly headnod-
SoR did it right, in terms of building the server up.
word
The “Full” servers weren’t having difficulty fielding numbers just 1.5 weeks ago….
When the going gets tough, the “Full” servers just keep making new excuses….
where the hell were you 1.5 weeks ago, JQ was dead last that week, this week so far we are second. I personally hope they release queue time because even as a full Server that doesn’t have anything to do with wvw population. Hell transfer on over and see for yourself and transfer back. those aren’t the same.
Dear Aos member I log on every night I can and join the fight. Every night, If you think me going to jadequarry.com is somehow going to help i can but I help by actually logging on and joining the fights. If that isn’t enough please tell me what you think I should be doing
It’s not so much the population of servers – ignore those that give that argument. What JQ and BG has to do now is motivate the current WvW population to come out and play. When SoR was in T2 againt BG, hell, even in T1 in the red position we would still come out in force each night. We have the same guilds coming each day and night with numbers that would play, if not to win, for fun. Play to socialise with guildmates inside WvW, or to show your server that WvW is still important enough that even when times are hard, the WvW guilds are still there fighting for the server.
I personally can say when SoR is demoralised (and we have been in the past) attendance drops. Fair weather players stop coming into WvW, and even the WvW guilds experience lower attendance to the WvW events at night – but there are still many players that will come out to play.
What I want to see is the same familiar guilds from BG and JQ – moreso from BG as JQ does seem to be putting up a fight. I KNOW that BG and JQ have those WvW guilds – I KNOW BG and JQ has the WvW population – they’re just not coming out to WvW to play. While there are exceptions and I am very happy to see consistent guilds out there even when the times are tougher, I would like to see BG and JQ out on the field in force for the spirit of the game. Jump on VIOP, try your best, and even if you lose or wipe, have a few laughs and enjoy the night – you’ll find your ppt increasing if you do so simply due to greater attendance and numbers out of the field.
It doesn’t matter what timezone it is, pvdoor is pvdoor.
This isn’t our fault.

Main problem that while I provide loans, it is upon my own free will – I personally dont have the ranks in my guild to let people withdraw gold out. Likewise some of my friends (real life or in game) are not in my guild.
While i do have my own bank guild, it also makes it difficult for people to get quick loans (price spikes/drops) when there is a 72 hour cooldown before new guild members can access the guild bank. Lastly, not everyone has a free guild spot and/or 3 days to wait.
I located the ticket and believe you will get the assistance you need very soon.
BTW, great, detailed information which surely will help the team help you. Thanks!
Everything was resolved in about 48 hours – though I have to ask – I am in a strange position now.
I lend gold out to my fellow guild members – and they repay me. What are the dangers of this incident happening again? And even if I were to stop lending out gold, how do I handle the repayment process (for those that currently have loans taken out from me), while I don’t want them to get into the same position as I have, I do have about 500ish gold being lent out to the various people which I would like returned one day or another.
OH! Whoops, I’m a little… I don’t even know what to say. Thanks – will update my ticket. A mod can close this I guess/leave it open for easier communication.
Hello there,
ticket support number: #130519-000591
I wanted to add a few more details, since I thought there would be additional details on the next page after “continue” in the ticket page.
Basically, I have been given a ban for gold selling/buying. Recently, I have opened up to my guild and offered loans to people, and likewise they have sent it back to me, so I can understand the suspicions.
What is happening is I would send X amount of gold to someone that is currently in my guild (and usually is in my friend’s list), and they would pay me back in a lump sum or over time in portions. I believe one of my guildmates has also given a support ticket/email to support this – with evidence that he’s received what I sent and why. I have loaned gold out several times to some of the same names/people, as well (if it helps) and in their case, they have paid it back (the lastest one being a few hours ago, as of this post).
I would like to get some insight into this decision to make a ban, and if I could get my account unsuspended – as well as any information on HOW I can continue to provide loans to my guildmates without fear of having to go through with being suspended once more.
I applaud JQ’s resilience in attempting to take Garrison on JQ BL – not getting it just quite yet though!
OCX’s influence has reached long and far – to the point where in [Choo] we have a Quack rotation. Join them for their many feathery friends
Join em. Joining HIRE is scientifically proven by 42 different medical professions, studying in unrelated fields, to make you a more attractive person in every aquatic manner possible.
Lots of fun, lots of banter, but when it comes down to who can bear the weight against JQ and BG, these guys can do it.
I’m surprised that the thread hasn’t been closed yet.
Let’s make it a little happier – What did/do you plan to have for lunch today?
In EB tonight Choo has hit both Blue and Green towers, not to mention take stonemist from Green and attempt to take aldons. I can’t understand where the accusation of how SoR And JQ are teaming up against BG.
In other news, Good fights tonight!
I think confusion needs a buff. Hell I think mesmer need a buff. Let’s give them the ability to apply agony.
Build: 16732
Error code: 42:0:9001:4105
Server: Sanctum of Rall, but playing from UK
As question says.
I want to grab a few pieces of armour
This is a little late, but those were some fun duels we had on TC BL – We had the entire [Choo] Zerg watch our duel between a warrior (Sorry forgot your name – he’s a classy one. The one with an Afro, and you dueled with a greatsword, axe and hammer.) and it was actually well organised until KH started attacking our tower :P
Great fun – I was the mesmer you killed (the sylvari one, not the one that pulled you off the cliff). The Hundred blades destroyed 10k of my hp despite your being blinded and I blinking out of it halfway >.< Had I know 100blades wasn’t affected by blind I would have lasted longer :P
Very good fight between my guild leaders as well – it was very close at times.
To the people that joined us for our picnic in EB: thank you. Many /waves and /cheers were handed out.
To everyone else: seriously what else are you going to do this week? PICNIC.
One of your thieves and Ele’s killed me
I was the mesmer that decided to “hang off” the cliff by sleeping.
I’ve led a couple of zergs off the cliffs… laughs were had all around.
Chicken… you always lead us into all sorts of craziness lol
“Ok guys follow me, follow me, grab supply, build this golem, keep going, grab supply, build these two golems… -12 golems later- Okay guys, I think that’s enough to attack Stonemist.”

I find mesmers to be very powerful, for almost anything. Take note that mesmers ARE NOT just portal slaves. We are very powerful in the field ESPECIALLY in large group fights. And all you need is the time to gear up properly, and a modified confusion bomb/mantra bunker trait line is more than sufficient to do everything a mesmer can do.
confusion bombing: Rabid gear w. carrion jewelery = confusion bombing in zergs. Helps you spread confusion fields that will confuse the enemy greatly while providing loads of utility for your team. Weapons vary: S&P or S&F w. Staff. Lots of Aoe and Area denial – great for holding choke points. LOTS of badges. Want to spread anywhere between 5-9 stacks of confusion on the ENTIRE ZERG? Build yourself accordingly.
Bunker portalling/hiding: PVT Gear with PVT jewelery for more survivability. Scepter and Torch for invis/block. off hand is sword and sword for a second block. Decoy and blink and portal for hiding inside keeps and deception.
One on One fighting: This is more playstyle than gear – and an experienced mesmer player will utilitise clones and movement to either get away/win the fights. Greatsword/staff, with Sword and torch. You have your confusions, blind, selfmade combo fields and mobility. Blink, portal and feedback.
Since I am a commander, I tend to use PVT Gear but keep confusion bombs for lesser effect confusion damage, but relatively decent survivability.
I dislike roaming – so I don’t know how to do this one.
These are ALL with the same traits might I add.
shattercat/modified shattercat is decent, but has it’s downfalls where your survivability is not as high (in pure stat terms) but it has more mobility and deception with high clone generation. It is also more suited for small group fighting.
Granted as a mesmer, you still use light armour and can be burst down easily. It is even harder for mesmers to use your clone if you are under level 80, as only the real mesmer gets the upleveled arrow. You are also lacking in reliable swiftness, which is vital in most cases. Blink DOES compensate for this – if you know where to blink and how, ie: up certain blinkable walls/cliffs.
I’ve led a couple of zergs off the cliffs… laughs were had all around.
So uh, how many Omega’s were on Bay in TC BL?
Obviously not enough :P
Cannons and Oil OP.
So uh, how many Omega’s were on Bay in TC BL?
Excellent manipulation of the culling issue in Longview. That tactic will hopefully serve you well in coming weeks.
If only you knew what we were doing – the main question was, why would you guys go onto the same ramp, 8-9 times in a row after wiping each time?
Fire up the Pain!
I propose more golems – make 20 of them on all sides. Then have a 3 way with them. Golems vs golems vs golems.
To be very fair about it all, all servers recruit for others. SoR has FINALLY gotten some oceanic guilds for coverage, whereas in the past we’ve just been losing lots of sleep/getting night capped.
This week (for the most part) we’ve been staying up a lot to keep hold of what we own. I personally welcome the new oceanic guilds.
As for SBI and TC, only respect out to you guys. This matchup has been great – lots of good fighting and strategy going on, and lots of shoutouts to the zerg commanders when a simple wrong turn can lead to a wipe. I have enjoyed this week immensely.
SBI – did you guys give up in eb? >.< We miss you!
Deep Fried Chicken firing up with the pain train! Let’s do this
As it goes – our 24/7 coverage has also been a product of lacking sleep and some very dedicated commanders.
Heya guys, I just wanted to congratulate everyone here for not closing down a tier 2 WvW thread for… well, a while now :P
On another note – let’s all stop these hackusations, and instead ask “Hey thieves in _, how did you __” or “what did some of you guys do in ____?”
I really love these matchups and how the fights are going – all very very even in the beginning. While I know that SoR has pulled ahead, SBI and TC, you guys are still both worth fighting – you guys can definitely hold your own against us and each other. Look forward for the next few days!
Choo Choo!
Great fights in EB,
Lots of swiss cheesing in SM, but all in all, we eventually started to really capture everything – not that we’re gonna be able to hold it very long. So many attacks by all sides on the map that made us run everywhere.
Look forward to the rest of the week!
~Deep Fried Chicken
Bring on the pain train!
Choo choo!
In all likeness, this is my first appearance on the forums and I’d just like to say, love the sportsmanship and love this matchup – also glad that in EB while things were hard, SBI and TC you guys really gave a fight.
Also would like to say that before with the previous matchups we would only have experienced commanders lead, whereas in this setting we seem to be more relaxed and even gave some newer commanders a shot at leading (thankful for this opportunity!)
Feel free to say hi if you see me in overflow!
