I’m not sure, but from your wording it sounds like you’re talking about trying to put it on the starter backpack as in the 20 slot bag you start with. If that is the case, that isn’t actually a back item that you put skins on. Back items are equipped in your hero panel like other armor.
Maybe I misread but I thought the error message is from trying to open the chest before crossing the finish line. You can still cross the line (though backwards) after using the shortcut and not see the message. As I said, it does seem strange to me that an intended shortcut would put you on the wrong side of the line and require you to cross it backwards (and it certainly does make it seem like it might not be intentional). However, I will still assume the shortcut is intended as long as it is so perfectly placed to allow it to be used and it hasn’t been patched for going on a week now. I would think that it wouldn’t be too hard to remove that one power up from the course if they wanted to.
Then again, maybe it was unintentional but they feel like enough people know about it now that if they remove that particular power up it would only stop someone else from discovering it and putting them on equal footing with someone who knew to hold an aspect master to make that shortcut. I have no idea, I’m just guessing.
I feel like the shortcut is intended. It is weird having it get you to behind the finish line but the high jump power up is sitting in exactly the right place to make the jump. I would be surprised if no one thought about the fact that exactly where they put that power up is just low enough to be jumped over but only when using the power up.
Personally I prefer to skip it when running the race (I like that final run up to the top), but I like to show it to any people who haven’t heard about it yet once the race is over.

I love this combo. The long sleeves covering most of the gloves makes it look more like his hands are fire rather than he’s wearing fiery gloves. You’ve made me glad I randomly picked the hellfire gloves.
Number 2 (female) with this hair and my alien eyes. All my Sylvari chars look like this, I know all the settings, they are all in my head because I recreated her so many times, lol (I’m a perfectionist). =P She’s adorable.

I’m also a big fan of female face number 2 and use it on all my Sylvari. Always the same settings for the face too and I’m pretty sure I could make it without looking at my slider screenshots by this point.
I’m not sure that changing your character’s glow will change the glow on the armor. With tier 3 medium, it is the skin color choice that affects the glow color, and the strength seemed to be unchangeable.
One thing that can be done, if you don’t want to have to see the glow and turning down your character’s glow doesn’t work, is turn shaders all the way down. You will still see your Sylvari’s glow (it won’t pulse anymore though, just be solid) but the armor won’t glow at that setting.
Sylvari in the Order of Whispers, that part is easy to think of. For profession it is much harder but it would either be thief or necro. Probably thief? I guess I’ll go with that one. I would be sad not to have both, I’m so glad this is hypothetical.

Sylvari are just my favorite race in any game I’ve played. I have 7 slots currently and use 6 of them for Sylvari. Order of Whispers because after playing through all three orders it was my favorite. I also loved Tybalt and like the view of the order and how they operate. Thief because that kind of character is typically my favorite in games, I’m a player drawn to stealth. Necro is a close second because I just love it in this game and it was what I played in GW.
Personally I don’t like the look of these weapons for most of my characters. I am however unlocking ones that can be used by a mesmer since I am making one soon and I think the Zenith look will be amazing on that kind of character (my necro and my thief, not so much).
I know I won’t be done collecting different weapon skins anytime soon.

I agree with this. I didn’t think I would care about seeing any new styles, since I like the one I use and the mohawk so much. However I want to use all the hairs that summourns and Murkes posted now so badly. Absolutely beautiful you two, thank you for sharing images of your ideas.
Some sets look better with the forced skin color. For example I use tier 2 light and tier 3 medium on two of my Sylvari and the skin color portions really make it look like the armor is growing from them. I also use tier 1 heavy on another character and since you don’t see stalks of leaves coming out of the skin in that set it looks more like an undyeable channel than like it grows out of her.
At least you can look forward to tier 3 which will blend better with your skin. The glow on the tier 3 medium set is also colored based on your skin color, so you know. If the male set glows, that is, which I think it does but I have only paid attention to the female one enough to know for sure.
I also have a Sylvari thief, though I’m not sure her look is very thiefy. Her armor is a mix of cultural tier 3, the commando pants, and the aetherblade boots.
I would most like to see the existing hairstyles become available for either gender (I have my eye on you, mohawk). I am a big fan of the leafy hairs for my characters and feel like male or female Sylvari would look great with all of the currently implemented hairstyles.
Thank you for taking the time to explain more about your design decisions for what is personally my favorite race in any game ever and to ask us what we would like to see if there are ever any more hairs added.
I look at other characters all the time. Waiting for an event to start or standing around in LA, checking out what other character’s are using for dyes/armors/weapons is fun to me. I like taking the time to really look and see all the different choices people made. I’m also always on the look out for another character that looks just like mine, which I luckily haven’t run into yet.
All of my Sylvari have the same glow, white turned down to about halfway. I haven’t found another glow I like more for any of my Sylvari, though they’re all different colors.
I have seen a lot of armor bugs on my female Sylvari as well. Same poofing problems and the hall of monuments armor causes there to be brown patches on her skin. I always use the smallest body type and many armors completely change that, especially in the hips/butt and chest.
There is some hope of them being fixed eventually though. I used to be unable to use the command pants with the stalwart top because it would cause one dagger to sit between the legs when sheathed. Now the weapons sit normally one the hips, so they did fix that at some point.
