That’s unfortunate to hear. GW2 has some of the best combat I’ve seen in a MMORPG. I’ll continue to try to adapt but I wish Anet would take PvP in a much different direction.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind running into a player that chooses to play defensively and make their character a little more bulky, it’s just some bunker builds seem absolutely ridiculous.

Yeah, more ppl that don’t understand the game complain. And on the level of soloq you are even able to kill a guard in a 1v1.

If there is something I don’t understand or am missing please let me know. There are many 1v1s I win against guardians, but I’m talking about the bunker builds. It seems even if it were possible to beat one 1v1 it would literally take 5 minutes of uninterrupted dpsing him down, grinding away at his health and not making a single mistake. It changes the game from a fast paced, mobile type game, into a little mini boss fight every time you go to the point.

How do you approach this if it isn’t an issue to you?

Not going to claim to be an expert in Arena but I’ve been playing solos the last week or so and the game is incredibly fun… Until you run into some bunker class (usually a Guardian) who just sits on one point the whole game. It’s even worse when you add in a second bunker sitting on home while the first one is in mid. It is the cheapest, game breaking thing I’ve ever seen.

If the team is coordinated enough sometimes you can overcome one, but two? not going to happen unless your team has some too… And it just becomes who’s bunker is better at camping a spot the whole match. The whole flow of the game is gone.

Maybe some of you like this play style so I’m not trying to attack you personally or anything but seems like such a waste of a good game to me. When you get in a game where there are no bunkers it is amazing. It’s a shame imo.

Are there any plans to change this in the future? or is this the intended meta?

lol at people who still think HS is OP, especially people who have just started playing a thief and act like they know what they’re talking about. HS is absolutely fine where it is… I rarely use it as is even now.

You act like you can just spam it non stop with out any consequences. That ini you just wasted spamming 2 like a noob could of been used to set up a CnD backstab combo. HS is basically a gap closer, if you’re using it for damage on anyone over 25% health your doing it wrong in most cases.

You might take down the odd glass cannon idiot who just stands there without dodging or using any abilities to counter it, but that hardly justifies nerfing it.

I’ve also been crashing all day in WvW… just now in a huge zerg on zerg fight in Bay. Lame… hopefully they fix this soon.

Steal was fixed. Did anyone notice?

The OP Pretty much summed up my first reaction to the patch… But I can honestly say that after wiping the tears from my eyes, and logging back onto my thief with an open mind, that I have been able to adapt to these changes, quite easily I might add.

As far as a stealth crit cooldown, that was just a hidden killer bug, that Anet has already fixed. (correct me if I’m wrong on this).

I agree that the changes were a little over the top and not the direction in which I would of liked to see Anet go, but it really isn’t that bad.

On a positive note, Anet has mentioned “increased mobility” coming to the Thief class… So something to look forward to. Eventually.

Violated PvE thief, no change to Wvw thief.

Is this patch a joke? Seriously… Early April fools day joke or something? I have seen my fair share of bad patches in other MMORPGs but my god I don’t think I have EVER seen a company drop the ball this huge on a class… The changes they made DID NOTHING to fix what they were addressing. I know this is usually said as a joke, but DO THEY EVEN PLAY A THIEF? Seriously. How could you possibly make this change if you even have a moderate understanding of the class… Especially when they already had a PERFECT FIX written up and ready to go… No other words to describe this then just WTF!!!

Thanks for simultaneously introducing a new fun feature in WvW while at the same time breaking my class making me not even want to play it.

Oh and to top it all off, lets just break hidden killer… why not.

This is my first post on these forums ever. Infact, it is the first time I have logged into them but I feel it is now necessary to voice opinion.

This nerf is so short sited. In the recent state of game you mentioned revealed regardless of attacking, this would have been fine. It seems like you came up with a last minute change without thinking it through.

Anet, PLEASE revert the revealed change and THINK about what this will do to the class. I have spent months saving for my appearance based around my sword dagger build, I spent £40 buying your GW1 and 4 days to get hall of monuments fiery dragon sword, I’ve just now finished my t3 cultural set AND tomorrow when I finish my world completion will have incinerator, all this work is ripped in half because of a short sighted nerf.

I wouldn’t mind it if the sword dagger set had ANYTHING to compensate for this. You nerfed dancing dagger, ok no problem it was kinda OP especially on pet classes. Flanking strike has been broken since the beginning and with one stone you killed cloak and dagger and my main source of damage (auto attack).

As it worked, auto attack has stealth attack + three strikes – the final being the main damage dealer. This timed perfectly with revealed, allowing me to chain 5/1/1/1/1/5/1/1/1/1.

With this nerf, I have an extra second of time where I have NOTHING I can do. Flanking strike is worthless, Infiltrators does nothing, dancing dagger is poor. The only thing I can do is first auto attack (which is bad damage) until revealed is up and I can cloak and dagger.

You have ripped this game from under my feet – I was having so much fun, I have found my non-cookie-cutter-glasscanon-hs spam build and built my appearance up from this.

To top it off you add WVW progression and then destroy it for me by making me want to stop playing my class.

And to the people who play other classes and don’t use this skill, DO NOT REPLY. You cannot understand how this has messed things up unless you actually play the class, this is ridiculous. I have tested this for the past hour or two and tried altering my build but it is dead.

Thanks for Reading, if you did. I would be more than happy to talk to a dev and walk through my build/playstyle and why I think this should be reverted if you would like.

Well said. The rotation issues you mention are the same with Dagger/Dagger. Very clunky messy feel to the class now… The Reveal after breaking stealth regardless of attacking would of been the perfect solution. Everyones rotations stay the same, NOTHING changes unless you screw up and miss your opponent, or your opponent out plays you.

Part of me isn’t too worried and thinks A-Net will change it back to 3 seconds and go that route… it just seems too obvious not too. If it stays like this then it’s pretty depressing how they just ruined a whole class.

4 seconds of revealed is way better than revealed every time you exit stealth. It does completely throw off the thieves rhythm though. Before it was fromstealthattack > 1 autoattack round > CnD. Now it’s fromstealthattack > 1 autoattack round > wait 1 second > CnD, which is unintuitive and stupid. If they fix this aspect of it, I won’t mind to much, but as it is now it’s just wrong. They need to up the damage of THF auto attack and slow it down, or add a 4th attack (that takes 1 second) to dagger and sword.

Please read this ArenaNet… This is my number one problem with the change. The thief use to flow so perfectly and now it feels clunky and it’s a mess… Sword/Dagger is completely screwed up as well.

Sad to see the thief get screwed over like this. I’m not even upset about the loss in dps, or the extra second outside of stealth, both are easily adaptable. But believe it or not a SINGLE SECOND completely ruins the feel and rhythm of the class.
