So, you know what WvW is, what it is suppose to be and how it should be played. And anyone who disagrees with your view should not be allowed to play in WvW?

The real problem are the players who have extremely narrow view of WvW, and constantly try to force their own interpretation to every other player. People play WvW for different reasons, and there is no “wrong” or “right” way. Or to put it simpler, get that stick out of you, try to relax and have some fun

That’s a lot of implying there friendo. I’ve seen most of your post history, are you just a troll who feeds on these kinds of arguments? If not, I’m impressed, you really do have a warped view on multiplayer games in general.

Is it anything different other than a relm v relm type pvp siege and battle experience? Does dueling contribute to the score of the game mode? Does simply fighting ONE player only over and over help your server achieve their goal, in a SERVER based competitive battleground with a limitted number of player slots?

I don’t care much about this issue, but something about your logic here really upsets me, it’s the kind of logic that can kill other games and ruin other player’s experiences with those games.

If dueling was intended to be apart of the experience in WvW, then there would be mechanics that supported it. Instead there isn’t and it’s not. It’s simply something players do because they can. It contributes to NOTHING but the “fun” of the individual players participating in it. I highly doubt the devs intended players to do nothing but 1v1s in secluded areas of the map as it contributes nothing to the server, score, or point of WvW. There is indeed a right or wrong way to play any game, the entire gamemode is centered around holding keeps, camps, and battlegrounds. If you’re not doing something to contribute to that, you’re not playing it the right way. Simply because you claim that you can play how you want doesn’t take away from the fact that you’re in a TEAM BASED PvP mode. People play TEAM BASED modes to play and win as a team. If you aren’t doing that you’re intentionally harming other player’s experiences with your selfishness and are being inherently entitled about doing so.

Do I hate people dueling? No, but there are other ways to set up something like that (and players SHOULD be able to duel somewhere/anywhere in the game). The problem with doing it in WvW on populated servers, is that if the queue is full, the people dueling are taking up player slots that could otherwise be taken up by players actually wanting to participate in the OBJECTIVE of the game mode.

As a child do you play tag simply to hide from the other person? No, because you made a social contract with the other, both agreeing to play the objective of tag. If you break social contracts or implied agreements, not only will people resent you, but will attack you for it. Playing a team based online game, only to play for your own personal enjoyment (that doesn’t contribute to the overarching goal) is morally wrong, no matter how you look at it. To play the victim in this case is just wrong.

When you enter a team based game, you’re saying to your team that you agree to be apart of the experience and help contribute to the goal. Otherwise, why are you even there? It doesn’t make sense, this type of entitled logic is the reason for the all the current political discourse happening recently. The oppressors are claiming to be the oppressed and blaming other people for problems that they themselves start.

What the OP proposes, if I understand it correctly, would end up creating hostile attitude against anyone else joining the wvw. "Oh, no, look at this player who just dared to pop into wvw, he is completely ruining our score, go away you nobb!

Except that is a problem, some players try to turn WvW into something it’s not, there is already structured PvP, go play duel in that.

Players in any online game, in any title that are playing a team based game with the objective of winning, who don’t play to do so, are automatically hindering their team as someone else who DOES want to win is instead, replaced by someone who just wants to 1v1 quickscopes only.

Yet the ones that complain that they are the victim, are guess what, the ones who are hindering the team intentionally. This is the same problem with certain political ideologies that I can’t mention here.

Yes and yes!

I’m so tired of this basic watered down guild menu… They increased the Guild Message of the day size at least… it’s a start. They should also make it where the GMotD shows up in the chat every time you log-in.

Not only that but the rank permissions BLOW either you can have access to the bank or add/remove players and start missions/upgrades….. I wouldn’t be surprised to see A LOT (even more than now) of guilds quit playing the game due to other MMO’s coming out with better guild systems

Temple Of Balthazar

It’s not just that it takes too long or that it’s “hard” it mainly comes down to how many people does it take to complete a broken temple event? We’ve attempted it many times on Darkhaven, only to have the pre-events bug out completely and ruin the consecutive events that you HAVE to do.

Some of the events reset on different timers: Dropping pact moral.
Some events need defended, while the main escort is starting: Drops moral.
The main escort starts even if you only complete one invasion out of the 3: Dropping moral
The events take a varying amount of time to complete, almost impossible to time perfectly: Dropping moral

They don’t need better rewards you get plenty of loot (mostly salvageables and mats) and the temple isn’t even hard, it’s just broken… and ANET needs to fix it or no one will ever be able to get their Obsidian Shards. Quit focusing on grind-fest living stories and actually get this game out of it’s beta stage -_-

Oh yeah, GUILDS NEED SUM LUVIN!

Temple Of Balthazar (Darkhaven)

I am on Darkhaven. I don’t know if this is just a server problem, or if our server just fails at everything we do.. but Temple of Balthazar is extremely hard to complete due to specific times the events need to be done (within one minute of each other it seems) not only that, but each event takes a different amount of time to reset… so unless you want to completely start over you can’t complete the temple without the pact failing. Why not make it to where the pact doesn’t march on the temple UNTIL ALL OF THE PRE-EVENTS ARE DONE?! This would make much more sense, the events wouldn’t reset unless they failed, it would still require organizing people to do each event and wouldn’t take from the “challenge” factor of the temple.. just my thoughts about that.
