Hi!
Guild Wars 2 by default uses a Vertical Fov, by using the -useOldFov command line parameter you can switch it to a Diagonal Fov.
Now to get a 90° Horizontal Fov you are going to have to do some math.
It’s a little early and I worked this out by hand so it might be wrong.Or just use this calculator. It’s what I use any time a game uses vFOV.
A quick note the minimum Fov angle is 20° and the max is 70°, that should help you figure out where to move the slider.
Any chance we could get the exact angle the slider is currently set to shown near the slider ?
Or, even better, the ability to type the angle in instead of having to drag the slider.
Both ideas sound marvelous. The addition of the Fov slider itself is already a great implementation.
It’s just that I like to set every Pc game to 90° horizontal and be done with it. It doesn’t matter what kind of Fov that is as long as I can see the value.
It’s fine, thank you again so much! You’re the first person willing to explain this to me.
So without using the oldfov command and thus using vertical I pressed the reset to defaults button and moved the slider 9 ticks to the right and this should be about 90 I guess.

Hey,
Thank you so much for the fast and detailed answer! So the game uses Vertical Fov by default? So 59 Vertical should be 90 horizontal at least according to some calculators I used online.
My aspect ratio is 16:9 and I#m playing on 1920×1080.
Thank you.
P.S. Does the slider move from 20-70 once you switch to oldfov or before? Also does one “tick” on the slider equal 1 degree?

Hey Folks,
this is my first post and out of sheer curiosity (and the hope that maybe a dev could answer my question).
I’m kind of a perfectionist with an OCD regarding game settings so bear with me.
I have a question regarding the in-game FOV slider. What are the exact numbers on the slider corresponding to FOV and what kind of FOV are we talking about? (horizontal, vertical, diagonal)
On a side note: Maybe somebody knows the correct position on the slider that corresponds to a 90° horizontal FOV.
Cheers.
