Here is the second screenshot. As you can see, the octopus is on the first floor after giving it a feast of piranhas.
My guildie and I have beaten Zone 2 already yesterday so we went back again and blazed through it until we got to this point. Last time we were here, feeding the octopus would raise the plate up so that we can get to the next checkpoint by foot. For some reason, the plate stays there and the strings are ripped off from the pulley in an unnatural manner. It might be hard to understand just from this paragraph so I attached a few screenshots.
If this is not a bug, please let us know.
For me, it’s not the greatest thing I’ve ever heard of but it’s definitely not the end of the world as some people on the forums see it as. Of course, we would have to go through more trouble to pick up these items and yes, it could have been implemented in a better way. However, they have arrived and probably are here to stay. What we, the fans of this game, can do is to make the best of what we are given and lead our developers in the right direction instead of quitting.
Although the personal storyline lacked the uniqueness that it advertised, it is our money that determines the outcome of this game. If we choose to keep supporting the game we love and assist our developers to make this game better, I believe that Guild Wars 2 can become an entity that we can all love for years to come.
There are some things I do not agree with but overall (like only having random lottery cash shop items like Consortium Chests), I really like this game and I have already stated that I will stick with them until the end. Big content patches like this are the proof of their hard work and dedication.
This game is new and I’m sure they’re learning a lot from this experience. This game will only get better as long as we stand alongside them and lead them in the right direction.
Wow, I would have never even thought of that. Good find.
I have no right to question someone’s business practices but I’m quite disappointed that ANet didn’t learn from the Halloween event. Sure, it made them a lot of money but continuing practices like these will only hurt their reputation in the long run.
Since I have been a long-time fan of ANet, I will stick by them until the end but it’s not looking good for them as this patch is the most hated patch they have ever created. I’m looking forward to the new content but it’s little things like this that will nullify all the effort and dedication made into this game.
It’s unfortunate that it has become such a big issue. I cry every time I visit the forums. Seeing my favourite game’s developers get bashed by hordes of players is never good but sadly a lot of their arguments are justified.
Thus, I would also have to advise against purchasing these chests as it promotes a business practice and a design ideology that may ultimately lead to the downfall of what was supposed to be the greatest MMORPG of the decade.
ANet, I hope you are able to endure and make this game the best it can be.
Sincerely,
Snowbloom
Although I have no big problems with this game, I would like to see more RP features and other things that can make you feel like you’re living in Tyria. (eg. Player housing, town activities like the ones ANET mentioned pre-launched, and etc). Player interaction is what I love the most about playing MMORPGs. At this moment, GW2 doesn’t offer that much and unless I’m in a crowded area like in Cursed Shore farming Plix, I barely get to talk to anyone.
I’m sure these will all come in good time but I totally agree with the OP. Killing things may be fun but I would definitely love to see features that add more flavor to the game. The addition of Costume brawl was a step in the right direction but there’s definitely room for more features.
10 out of 10.
Looking forward to the November release.
