Other than players that use the ANET design, am I the only player that thinks attacking while stealth’d and staying stealth’d is stupid? GW2 is the only MMO where someone can attack from stealth, go back to stealth or stay in it due to kitten poor programing and exploits… do the dev’s even know this.. do they even play anymore?

Perma-stealth is an absolute kitten and should be removed.

In Everquest 2, you could remain in stealth until you attacked. Then there was only one very short-term in-combat stealth available which you might be able to use to get enough distance to get out of combat and stealth if you did it right. Any stealth dropped as soon as you took ANY damage (e.g. DoT), so you couldn’t re-stealth until you had no dots on you.

Also everyone had the exact same movement in combat (no exceptions), so once you committed to a fight it was very difficult to get away, but if you didn’t want to fight, you could generally out-distance people who had attacked you (if you didn’t hit back).

Everquest WvW worked very very well.

It was much more balanced than the absurd GW2 classes which zoom in, take off half your health, vanish before you can even target them AND escape whenever they feel threatened. Broken game and boring!

Time to stop rallying off guard deaths

Like in PvP, players were able to rally off the deaths of guards and lords. Now, players cannot, but for some reason in WvW, it still exists. And this is a bad mechanic when fighting small team fights in the lord’s room of a tower or keep. All a player has to do is kill a random NPC and they rally. Like…really?

It turns a fight completely around in favor of the person who, by all rights, is dead. This needs to change for the better as guard rallies can tilt a fight the wrong way.

I agree, its ironic that its HELPS to fight with NPCs attacking you!!! Personally I’d remove the downed state entirely from WvW. Its just a pain in the kitten which favours larger groups over smaller one. 2v1 is hard enough as it is, without the massive advantage the down state adds.

I play WvW almost exclusively in this game…./

I wonder if they linked:

top server+ bottom server
second server + second bottom server
… and so on.

It might not make much of a population difference because the lower tier servers wouldn’t have that many players, but it might lift their participation.

Who knows, it a difficult thing they’re trying to do.

Personally I preferred it when three lightly populated WvW servers fought. At least then you were dealing with people of numbers and skill level similar to your own.

Now its just being run over by zergs.

Anet do you EVER think of what some of your changes are gonna do? i.e. Linking?

The concept of Team Chat is great and if used properly, it would be a great tool….

I think it would be great to have a skill that allows you to hit a single button and and give a sit-rep to a dedicated ‘WvW’ channel. Whatever is in the area could be auto-reported into a channel… E.g: "server x – garrison water gate, golem number xx, invaders numbers xx’.

As topic tittle say, are there any plans to remove skilless play, aka mesmer/trapper thief, from wvw, or/and completely nerfing condi dmg in wvw ? I dont think any explanation on reasons why skilless play is not welcome in wvw.

Mesmers are weak as atm in WvW. If I win 1 in 10 fights with my Mesmer I consider myself lucky, and I’ve been playing WvW pretty much since game launch. Maybe I’m just terrible, but I never used to be this bad.

Damage you deal to your team is doubled back onto yourself.

Imagine how this would stop mega-zergs focus firing single targets. Your archers and AOEs would have to use some intelligence and not fire into melee. You could still fight when outnumbered, defend gateways. It would probably open up an otherwise pretty boring WvW experience to new and interesting tactics.

Offensive should always be stronger than defensive. Especially if the offensive forces outnumber you. Otherwise you have a boring and stale game.

We know, Anet knows, that’s why every server zergs!

A lot of players dont want it this way and have asked Anet to do something about it.

But this is WvW, it’s been neglected since launch, the only new map people hated, and the new devs still do not know what WvW is!

Al we can do is try to keep the game fresh, and this usually means hardcore WvW guild moving servers regularly.

Anet refuse to spend the time, money and resources on WvW, and as such it will always be the last thing to get updated. And any updates to it will be small and insignificant things which do not address ANY of the real issues with WvW! e.g. Siege Repair Hammer

Which is a pity, because WvW can be the best thing about an MMO if its done right!

This is NOTHING that an outnumbered group of WvW wall defenders can do.

Everything the devs have put in WvW advantages the Zerg.

The worst thing is point blank catas because of unbelievably bad LOS problems from above. The most dangerous place to be is up top with almost every firing angle obstructed, whether or not you’re shooting an ‘arching’ engineer mortar with indirect fire or a bow. In fact the hardest thing to do in the game would be drop a grenade over the edge of a wall!

“It’s over Anakin, I have the higher ground”….. nope.

Can anyone recommend a server which has a health population of defenders from midnight onwards (LA time)?

I really enjoy coordinated WvW defending keeps, but no one defends and we get zerged every night by 15-50+. If we have more and 4-5 players we’re doing well, so it’s not fun and its pointless.

I actually don’t care if there are queues over weekends and I cant get in. I’d rather some quality WvW rather than none at all!!

I don’t really want to change servers, because I’ve been on GoM since launch, but there’s probably no other option.

I think the key to keeping outnumbered players defending is have some chance of success.

I agree with you, the keep lords should be way tougher than they are, maybe even scaling up when there are two in the same location, having a maximum amount of damage they can take (so you have to fight them for a while no matter how big the zerg). I was in a group of 3 when we took garrison. It was hard but we did it.

Fighting amongst NPCs is definitely better than being caught in the open. I must disagree with dancingmonkey.4902, I would always choose to fight in a group of NPCs when I’m outnumbered.

When you lose a keep, all the NPCs redistribute to your remaining keeps.

That way your last keep would have all the keep lords from all the other keeps, making it really really really hard to take, even with a big zerg, and possible to defend even with a small number of players.

That might balance things out and stop everyone changing maps every time a zerg appears.

I am beginning to suspect that there is are large-scale gold farming groups which are controlling the prices of raw materials. All components seem to add up to the finished item price (crafting is nearly useless), and its all too perfect to just be players knowing what each item is worth. Not enough fluctuation.

I encourage ArenaNet to look into it because the economy on this game is boring as hell, and I normally love to trade & craft stuff, but there’s no point here.

Thanks for all the suggestions. There’s no slow shown at all and I don’t see them stunned for even fraction of a second. I’m running my Mesmer with the same gear as you guys suggested (melandru & lemongrass) and I do still get slowed and stunned, but I’m a lot more free than I used to be. I’ve also got a clone which removes debuffs and one invis / stun breaker.

100% sure Mesmer… clones and all. I’m a Mesmer and I cant figure out how they are doing it. Only ever played mesmers & I cant work it out. I suspect its an exploit, but if its not would be good to know how to do it.

that’s -65% total for conditions… these guys are never slowed. I’ve tried the hoelbrak version of that, and I still get slowed

There seems to be a mesmer build which makes them immune to slows, stuns or generally anything which holds them in place. They’re not using mantras, and they always have the food which reduces condition time by 40%…. but they never get slowed (i.e. they’re not getting slowed and removing it).

Is this an exploit or legit?

Anyone know how it’s done?

It seems so simple, just boost the NPC numbers up to balance things. Even if you had 100 NPCs per zone that slowly become more and more concentrated as you loose keeps. The final few locations would have heaps of them helping. Make the Keep Lord a proper champion which takes 5 mins to kill even with a large group. So many options, so little action…

… As a front line commander I must say I am impressed with your will. And it even felt that Kain was outnumbered throughout the evening…

I know you’re trying to encourage us, but its actually no fun for at all this week. There were 2 of us trying to defend a camp with some balistas and a group of 6 refused to come within range until they were joined by at least 30 others, at which point they wiped us in about 3 seconds…. fun!

I dont think anyone is critisizing you guys who have stuck with your server and worked hard. Personally I’ve stuck with GOM despite it being dismal in almost every way in WvW. I made my character on this server and dont intend to play the flipper game.

I think the anger is directed at the big guilds who switch servers and wreck it for everyone. Stick with your server, deal with the issues. Flipping is like a 10th grade kid heading over the the first grade and beating everyone up.

It’s funny how fast some of you GoM complain about how Kain has more people then you on a map, and how it’s “not fair”. Every time we play you and you are the top ranked server out of the 3 you outnumber people on every map. Stop complaining and play the game. Don’t worry when Kain moves up a tier you can out zerg everyone again like you are used to, until then quit the complaining it’s annoying.

Take a look at the scores after 2 days buddy: 178k, 15k, 11k…. losing / being outnumbered is OK, but when neither your server or ours can hold a single keep, then something’s broken.

… what I read, WM got tired of the exploits in tier 1. Some of the people in WM began exploiting themselves and their server SBI didn’t like that. WM got split up a bit, particularly their oceanic crew, and majority of them transferred to Keineng permanently…..

Worse than exploiters are guilds which transfer on bulk and destroy WvW which had otherwise been reasonably balanced. Exploiters are irritating, big guild transfers make WvW unplayable.

In EQ2 stealth was visible (predator-style) within a decent radius, so if you were observant, you could spot a thief…. Personally I have high health, so I dont often get one-shot… but having the thief out of range, then 1 second later stealthed backstabbing you, then when you dont die instantly, they’re back back out of range 1 second after that… not much fun at all. And the perma-invis… dont get me started!!!

I’ve played WvW in games where NO CLASS gets a speed buff. Anyone can get away if they are smart about it. Some of the most intense pvp I’ve had has been escaping… just. Usually there’s in-combat & out of combat speed. If the escapee doesnt attack, they keep the out of combat speed while attackes are slowed by in-combat. It works very well. You need to hit the escaping person with a slow & use terrain knowledge to catch them. In my opinion it’s more fun.

Firstly I really like the champion thing in WvW. I’ve never been on the attacking side, but it is good fun trying to defend against them…

BUT… sometimes there’s about 5 defenders & 30+ attackers with the champion. In these cases he’s not really needed. I’d suggest spawning him only when the defenders outnumber the attackers by 50% or something.

I absolutely agree, down state should be taken out of WvW. Its hard enough fighting multiple vs. 1, but when they keep getting up with 30% health, it becomes nearly pointless. Personally I love small battles, but if you’re by yourself, then the downed states make it very very difficult to solo even 2 people. One alternative is to make the down state health very low (it almost seems to take as long to kill someone as when they’re up at the moment), and when you come back, they could be much weaker… say 5% health. Maybe then they could leave it in.

The easiest solution is to make a keep hard to take no matter how many people are on.

If one server has 100 and the other server has 5, just boost up the NPCs so its still hard for the 100 to get the keep. Auto upgrade keeps to max reinforcement. Give them free seige weaponry & have NPCs on balista ect.

Taking a keep which isnt defended, is not only boring, but its not PVP.

If there are only 5 defenders against 50, give them reinforced walls & arrow carts for free, plus heavy NPC assistance. Make the keep lord super tough champion style.

The fun in PVP is difficult battles, losing some, winning some.

What a thrill it would be to have a chance of defeating a big zerg with only a few defenders, plus it would be more fun for the zerg as they would get to fight players rather than just taking undefended keeps.
