There is a global attack going on right now. Blame internet terrorism. Once that subsides, our issues should subside. Unfortunately, the selfishness of Internet terrorists that proclaim themselves to be “saviors” is the real issue". Wolves in sheep’s clothing.
Is that what is going on at the moment?

I enjoy the mechanics of the newer bosses. Varied attacks, new effects, varied dodge and evade tactics, etc. overall, given engine limitations, I think ANET is doing quite well. Which boss(es) did you find not enjoyable (compared to previous bosses from other content)
I’d like to reach out to the Guild Wars 2 community for help here. Posting here was not something that was easy for me to do, but I have finally decided that I really had to swallow some pride, and ask people that I may have run into in the game in passing to help me out in real life.
A little bit about myself for starters…. My name is Connor, and I am 27 years old. I live in Indiana, USA and I work for the city government as a type of social worker helping low income families secure affordable housing.
In the past, I have been extremely active in the Guild Wars 1 community:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Ascalon_Royal_Family_Masquerade_Ball
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Oktoberfest
Those were two events I created to bring the community together, to have fun and to engage social issues big or small as presented at each event.
What I came to learn about the Guild Wars community was that they were passionate, giving individuals who cared more about the well being of others than themselves and that fun and togetherness were far more important than loot or gold. Guild Wars 2 has been no different, and as I have played GW2, I have enjoyed the reaction of giving legendaries and rare items to those I am close to and seeing them “pay it forward.” The majority of players in this community don’t surprise me any longer; I know how great you guys and gals can be, as I’ve been a part of that community for a long time.
This brings me back to the focus of this post: my issue I need help with.
In 2009, I suffered a catastrophic injury to my L5 disc in my lumbar (a 2.5cm central prolapsed herniation), damaging the nerves in my cauda equina, some of them permanently. As the healing process began, so did new types of pain; every single day has been a struggle since the surgery to correct the herniation. I learned to live with pain, and the issues that came with each variation of it. Sometimes though, the restrictions presented wear me down, and I find myself crying, very depressed, etc. Guild Wars has been as escape, but it is just that, a an escape, not a solution.
However, on October 22nd, I fell and re-herniated my L5 disc, impinging my S2 nerve root directly and involving my S1 and S3 roots as well. The pain is debilitating, leaving me unable to sit, much less walk. The pain radiates down my right side, feeling like a knife stabbing into my right hip and thigh, my right calf feels like it is being ripped out and my right ankle feels like it is being crushed. Electrical pulses radiate across my skin in a similar pattern, sometimes changing to burning sensations.
There has been another serious side effect of my 2009 injury: weight gain. In 2009, I weighed 230 pounds; while I was husky, I was muscular and in overall excellent health. Fast forward to today, and I am 340 pounds, with deteriorated muscle tissue throughout my body due to lack of exercise. This is not by choice, but by necessity… it is too painful to exercise, and even short bursts of low impact cardio leave me crippled the following day, unable to go to work, unable to even walk.
With the recent new injury, I will require another back surgery. There is, however, a treatment I am eligible for. A new treatment, aptly named “REGENADISC” (google it) can heal my discs back to almost normal condition. Unfortunately, insurance does not cover this vital procedure.
This procedure would follow current medically necessary treatments to remove impingement on my nerves, which insurance does cover. If I am able to raise the needed funds, my recovery time would be 4-6 weeks, with full regeneration taking no more than 3-4 months. After this point, I can resume a normal exercise regimen and shed this awful, unhealthy weight that has plagued me long enough.
I’m reaching out to the Guild Wars 2 community to help me reach my goal. Please, this situation has caused me untold heartache; the weight gain is compounding the issue and I cannot continue to live in this kind of pain. My family has run out of funds to assist me, I have tapped my savings completely and I continue to stack up medical bills putting on band aid treatments without treating the underlying issue – the degenerated discs themselves. Feel free to message me in game as well; I’d be happy to answer any questions you might have! My user name is Sojar.1495. If you can donate, even a small amount, I will be forever grateful. A lot of people donating a small amount can make just as much of a difference as one person donating a big amount. No gift is meaningless, and no gift will go without a personal thank you from me, I can guarantee you that. Thanks for your time reading this, and I wish everyone the best this holiday season.

PS: There is a YouTube video on the crowd funding project of myself, giving a short story of the above.
After acquiring a few Metabolic Primer’s for their very useful 12 hour food extension, I’ve come to find they don’t work at all once you log out or change character.
Upon logging back into my mesmer, I found that when I ate a new food, it applied at the standard 59m 59s buff, not the 10+ hours it should have. Additionally, I tried to consume multiple different foods and the metabolic primer timer stayed constant, but any of the newly consumed food timers did not adjust to match it.
The first food I ate did match it, and to clarify, I have attached a screenshot showing the time remaining on the 5th food I’ve tried to consume to have it match the Metabolic Primer.
I have to say, this is extremely disappointing given the real money status of the primers and the sizable investment into getting the few I have. The first one is down to a mere 4 or so hours remaining at this point, and it only worked for the 1.5 hours I had the food on the first time, a paltry 30 extra minutes to the 1 hr long consumable buff it gives by default.
Hooray for the complete inability to make my legendary. Been working on it since November. Now, it will likely be done in November, if you catch my drift. Sigh… With the amount of money I’ve spent in the gem store, they could pay 4 programmers 20 hours each @ a rate of $30/hr to fix this. What is all the money I’ve given you guys going towards exactly? Making more gem store items?? You’ve got to keep those gem customers coming, right? /facedesk
Bump. Could we get a developer reply on this matter? I know almost all my guildies are very interested as well.
Please ANET, fix this. Can we please get a response that you will issue a build this coming week or the following to permanently fix this godforsaken bug? That’s not really too much to ask that we be able to get 100% map completion.
I cannot believe this has been bugged this long, preventing many people from getting 100% map completion. Jesus ANET, fix this. I just reported this bug in game, and searching the forums, I really didn’t except to find a thread this long.
This is completely and totally uncalled for. This should be a top priority, as it prevents many players from getting their legendaries and blocks progress for 100% map completion. I guested to 2 separate servers (Blackgate and Feurgeson’s Crossing) from my home server of Maguuma and all 3 are glitched.
Totally irresponsible by Arena Net to let this go so long unfixed. Shame…
Not sure if it was an oversight on patch or not intended to be a feature, but currently, Azurite Crystals aren’t able to be transmuted to Azurite Orbs @ 400 jewelcrafting.
Is there a recipe for this as a rare drop from the new dungeon or is this not currently possible?
If it is the latter, it would be very nice if we could transmute them using the traditional 5 Incandescent Dust + 2 Crystal recipe that functions for every other type of crystal in the game.
Here’s hoping you guys and gals at ANET add this feature.
I’ve now dropped over $300 on getting a Fused weapon. I have yet to get a single Fused Ticket. I’m extremely angry about this, as I’ve had every single guildie who has tried spend $35 USD or less to get one.
After spending well in excess of $1,500 in the Gem Store since launch, I will no longer be spending any more money supporting this idiotic system. I would have gladly paid $10-$15 for a ticket directly out of the gem store. This is absurd and I feel robbed from my expenditures in the Gem Store.
At least one of my guildies sent me 100g to finish up saving for my precursor… otherwise, I would have spent those gems on something slightly more useful than the absurdly skewed chance for a Fused Ticket.
ANET, this type of business model is amazing for your profitability. But you’ve just lost over $2,000 in just this fiscal year from me. I was going to continue to support the game via the Gem Store, but after being ripped off in such a massive way…
I invite you to change it to a purchasable item, and perhaps give those who spent innumerable amounts of complimentary ticket as compensation. However, you guys won’t do that, since that requires appreciating your customers who support you via the Gem Store. I regret all the money I’ve spent in that Gem Store now, and I’m really upset that you’ve made me feel so slighted that I feel that way now. It disappoints me that I am so discouraged by greedy business practices instead of the fun loving, eager to please ANET of yesteryear.
Bumping this up as well. Stuck helping my friend with it at “Defend the Front Gate” Where the giants should now spawn etc, they do not, and nothing else happens after the initial few normal undead mobs that storm the gate. Scouted the whole area for a straggler undead or something along those lines… didn’t find anything. This bug seems to be a new one introduced with tonight’s patch.
Hi Gaile,
Hope all is well.
I understand the support team is very busy, but I’d really love to get a response to my ticket. They asked for a lot of additional information, and I provided all of that completely and thoroughly. Since then (09/09/12), not another response has come through. In total, this ticket has been open since 09/04/12, and the issue still persists. I had hope that the gem purchasing issue was resolved after gem sales were temporarily suspended, but it doesn’t seem to be the case.
I don’t understand how both Paypal and my credit card are failing, the two being very much unassociated. My Paypal is directly linked to one of my bank accounts, so, and thus, doesn’t draw from my credit card at all.
