Merry Chrismas back at ya!
And Kudos on an awesome thread
A quest chain of some sorts to ‘power-up’ the legendary weapons would be a nice touch, but then they would need to make Legendaries more accessible to the more casual user base or face the wrath of the trolls.
people don’t want to give Anet money any more.
Ive spend already about 300+ euros on gems and its still rising.
I feel I should thank you for financing my ‘subscription’ to the game
Sounds like the W v W server(s) blipped.
I had a similar issue a few days ago – The initial game load took about 5 minutes to let me zone in, whereas it usually only takes 30 seconds or so. It did eventually complete, however gave the impession it had frozen for me at first.
Subsequent loads were also noticably slower than ‘normal’ and my PC was not running any other processes at this time (virus scans, browser sesions etc).
It seems to have returned to normal now though.
-Logging in.
-7:1000:7006:373, can’t connect to server.
-Followed by “invalid password”
Er… have you tried changing your password before blaming the developers… You have even stated that your Brother’s account worked fine…
Which country are you in and what ISP do you use matey? Im in the UK with TalkTalk and I find that weekly, especially at the weekends, they have started doing …something… that causes a refresh of my internet connection and hence 2-3 minutes of down time whilst the router sorts itself out. I thought it might be my router hardware however I do find GW2 requests the authenticator code upon relogging suggesting a change in the network IP.
I just wish they would do it on a monday morning or any time other than weekend evenings. ^^
I accidently stumbled across an interesting fact(?) the other evening whilst participating in the [new] Shatterer fight. I had spent significantly longer in the event as a result of only 8-10 people turning up (and no we didnt win ^^ but kudos to those people on blacktide who joined me in spending 2 hours trying!) and as such I believe that this contributed to the glitch I am about to describe:
At some point I became trapped in a crystal prison and fell through the bottom of the map…
…Not necessarily unusual?
Well, upon falling through the map I found myself swimming in a body of water which spanned, for what I could tell, the entire zone. To my knowledge there are no bodies of water directly in that part of the map. As such, this got me wondering if there was any possibility that some of the ‘seemingly random’ framerate issues etc are not just a result of hardware optimisation but also as a result of map architecture ‘optimisation’.
I have read about this before regarding Crysis 2: Upon enabling DX11 content, most specifically tesselation, there are masive performance hits in that game which are not proportional to what you see on-screen as the engine is applying the enhanced graphics effects on items which are technically in the scene but not visible to the player.
(Yes I know GW2 is DX9, but the principle is the same)
So, consider water reflections etc, if set to ‘all’ are there actually large bodies of water to which these effects are being applied and hence using resources (reflecting that oh-so-pretty ‘underzone’) even if they are not apparent to the gamer? This would certainly account for these issues and as such changing other settings wont make the slightest bit of difference.
Im sorry if this has been raised before but I was wondering if Anet would be able to elaborate on whether these quirks are known [for a given game region] as it would, at the very least account for some of the frame rate issues giving those people affected a better overview on which settings to change and the benefits to expect, especially when different zones will obviously necessitate different action. Its by no means a solution but I think the forum community might appreciate more than an ‘update your drivers’ response now and then, especially seeing how volitile a large number of the forum comunity seem at this time.
P.S. Im playing on an i5 oc to 4.2ghz (quad core), with a radeon HD7870 and most certainly have a playable framerate with some zones hitting 110+fps (circa 45fps in the shatterer zone during the aforementioned event) with all settings to the max and as such please dont see this post as me complaining – Just putting ideas out there seeing as forums are for feedback etc and not just a medium for venting anger about the Lost Shores (which incidently was amazing and played as well as was expected at around 30fps with the above rig on 5mbs broadband – EU).

8PM GMT matey.
I also dont understand why, given the regional servers, the event could not be staggered as more convenient hours for each region, but it wont really impact me unless the server dies under the strain of the guest memberships.
Agreed with OP – the game is perfect as is (asides from a few expected bugs here and there). Just keep doing what you are doing Anet as this game is already a tonne better than most of the shovel-ware on the shelves these days.
Asides, I think we need to constantly remind some of the more vocal community members that we DONT PAY MONTHLY SUBS for all the new content that keeps being added!!!
Therefore, instead of whining shouldnt we all just be happy about this?
The forum community is the minority, and often a selfish minority at that…
I understand both sides of this arguement and I myself only get to play 2-3 hours every other evening or so due to work and family commitments so I am by no means a ‘die-hard’ player:
14 hours per week for 2 months = 7 hours every week for 4 months = 3.5 hours every week for 8 months etc…
So, I estimate, given my own gaming habits, that its probably going to take me 5 months or more to get a legendary. Meh. if I still like and play the game regularly in 5 months time then I will be ecstatic to finally get this [skin] for my weapon but the way I see it, like with any game, does it really matter how long it takes? This stuff is there to give you a goal and ultimately a massive emotional boost when you FINALLY acheive it.
Im really enjoying myself right now so why the heck would I wish to burn out the game in a few weeks?
(…hence why there are so many whiners on these forums complaining about a lack of content etc etc…)
Its all relative tbh – play the game, enjoy the game, aim for your goals and if you continue to be a loyal player then you will get there in the end.
At the end of the day, time invested will be the same, albeit in different bursts, and you WILL get out what you put in.
Just please stop kittening about other people being able to accomplish something faster than yourselves when everyone has different circumstances which are nothing to do with either the game or the developers.
—Why rush when you can glide—
EDIT: kittening. Rofl.

This is the first time on these forums that i have felt obliged to post. i agree with everything said by the op – the game is spectacular and unique in the ‘good vibe’ provided by the interractions of what i would term the ‘non-hardcore’ community. From my first 50+ man fight with the shatterer i was sold. thanks a-net!
