I’m not sure if this is the right forum for this, but I thought I’d express my absolute disgust about Season 2.
I have had to take a leave of absence from the game for personal reasons. Eventually other things distracted me. I heard today about Heart of Thorns. That kicked my interest back up for the game, and I was curious about playing again. I also heard that Living World Season 2 content was actually good and much more story driven, unlike Season 1.
So… let me get this straight, ANet. I’m being penalized because I had personal issues keeping me from the game, and being made to PAY for content that everyone else got for free. If I want to see what I missed, I need to pay 200 gems PER CHAPTER.
This feels like a terrible way to encourage people to come back to the game.
I’ve never been one to rant at a company… or complain, and honestly, my GW2 experience has been great. bought a lot of character slots, have some cosmetic gear. The game experience has been fun, but stuff just happened to draw me away from the game.
This… this just feels like ANet is actively discouraging anyone that stopped playing the game for any lenght of time, from coming back. And has me honestly disinclined to be interested in the expansion.
Two major suggestions here. I’ve seen the capacity in Neverwinter and STO, and a few other games. It’s pretty obvious that the Personal Story missions are made using one toolset,. and played in an instance. So why not tweak them to give access to players, and allow us to make some user generated content (UGC) for the game?
It would also allow some greater chance for income to the cash shop. Make every tileset achievable in-game with Karma or a new currency specific to the GW2 ‘Foundry/Architect/Dungeon Maker’… but also sell the tilesets and some tools / character models with Gems. Even make a limited amount of ‘published’ UGC, and sell additional slots.
Using an in-game ranking system you can have folk share and determine what the best are. Even run contests for most highly-rated UGC, and link additional daily/monthly achievements to running UGC.
Gamers benefit because they can create their own content, and have unlimited new content available. It also gives them more to do.
ANet / NCsoft benefit from additional revenue from additional UGC slots and tileset purchases.
Second suggestion…. optional 3rd Person Shooter controls. If you want to make the controls more dynamic, why not have a ‘3rd person shooter’ mode. Have mouse-aim (making targeted-area skills much easier to target). WASD movement control, and MB1/MB2/QER for weapon skills, with utility skills still controlled by 1-5.
Note… it says something about the severity of an issue when people are urging people to come to a zone so they can FORCE overflow, and hence actually complete it there. We shouldn’t have to do that though.
I am, by the way, sitting at the skill point tonight. I am urging each and every person that comes by to MAKE NOISE about this. When there are people waiting to get 100% map completion and they put in a sloppy half-measure ‘fix’ that gets re-broken within a minute of reset… that smacks of laziness.
Also very upset at this. I may not be nearing any level of completion, but this feels almost… depressing. Did anything actually get changed in the bug fix patch, or did you just reset it?
Quite frankly, I find myself getting rather angry about this. I waited patiently, figuring it would be fixed. Now I wonder if… weeks down the road, with my toon at 99% completion… if I don’t log in within seconds of a so-called ‘fix’, I’ll be forced to wait another week.
So no, it’s not as if I’m waiting so I can get 100% completion. But I’m watching many, many others who are upset and wanting to actually get that last skill point.
