Here’s my two cents. I am totally, and I mean it, totally against changing that. Dismounting when interracting is a great way to reduce the number of people on a mount. I’d hate to have, like it is said above, a BIG pack of mounts around an npc or, worst, in Lion’s Arch at every possible corner. Really, it would ruin the game far more than dismounting anytime you interract with something. The thing about mounts is that if you can do everything on your mount, why not always be on a mount too ? battling on our mounts, crafting on our mounts… ? And that’s somthing I hate about mounts and why I didn’t want them in the game at first. It’s that as soon as you introduce mounts, you’ll see them everywhere. And to my surprise, I love how Arena Net handled them, and I can say now that I can’t wait to have mounts in game when Path of Fire will be out.
I never post on the forum, but it saddened me to see such negative feedback on mounts. I can’t understand you guys. I, personally, never liked mounts in mmorpgs and I never wanted them in guild wars. I always told people “mounts have nothing to do in guild wars” and here I am, loving my experience on the raptor. It’s fast, smooth, and most of all, it feels special. Some of you guys were upset about the way the raptor turns, I on the contrary love this. I love the way this feels like I’m riding a beast and not incarnating it. I love the animations, they are awesome and so smooth I’d like to thank the guys that worked on it. I’m still a bit scared that everyone I see will always be on a mount when Path of Fire will be out, and that’s one of the things I never liked about mounts : why move on foot if you have a mount ? But that’s another debate (and contrary to one of the posts here, I really believe that dismounting when interracting is a great way to reduce mount-overcrowding). Right now I can say that I love riding the raptor. I’m not even playing the beta because I want to experience it further with the new elite specs, so I’m just running around on my mount, then log out and play with my regular characters, and then log back in just to run around with the raptor a bit again.
So, just a post to say kuddos to the teams that worked on it. I know it’s often the negative feedback that are loud and visible because when you like something you don’t necessarily need to talk about it, but I really hope you guys at Arena Net still believe the way you made mounts move was the right one. The only thing concerning I admit is the motion sickness issue some of the players brought up already on the forum. I don’t have an opinion about that because I don’t experience motion sickness, but I really hope it won’t change too much the current experience.
IGN : Shinead Metanbac
Playstyle : mainly PvE
Server : Augury’s Rock
Experience with thief : Been playing thief since launch. Thief has been my main class since then. I think I have played enough with the thief to know its strength and weakness. I’ve played with all weapon sets, although I’ve played D/P and P/D the least. I understand the strength and effectiveness of these sets (thinking about D/P mainly), but they don’t suit my playstyle (and it’s pretty useless outside of PvP/WvW). I guess the weapon set I like the least is D/P. I’ve never liked the stealth mechanic anyway.
On a side note, by joining the guild I’m hoping to get more into PvP, and be up to date about the state of thief in game. Be it PvE or PvP. Also if I could learn things I don’t know about the class it would be most welcome. The better I know the better I get.
Cheers !
Alright so, I’m one of the quiet players. I think I’ve posted only one or two messages on this forum (although I spend a lot of time reading it).
Honestly, all the people I’ve ever played with in this game ended up being frustrated or unhappy about the game. Some still play it, the game is still good, but the big majority (of the players I know) are bored with the game. I’ve played it since beta, some of my friends started playing just a few months ago and they stoped not long after hitting 80. Every guild I’ve been in has lost almost all their players, and even my current guild is a ghost town now.
As for myself, I loved my first months of playing, it was really awesome. But after one year, I couldn’t help but feel that the game wasn’t moving forward. They wanted to experiment something they’ve called “Living World” (then Living Story), but it didn’t work. Some people liked it, but the fact it : it didn’t work. I sticked to the game in the hope that it might change, because I like the game and I’m a big fan of the first Guild Wars, but yeah, I still feel the game isn’t moving forward. Living story’s better than before, they used it to bring a new map, but the game is still the same. The only good content they added to the game (that is still there) in my opinion are the Fractals. We can argue about whether the ascended items are a good thing or not, but the Fractals themselves were a great addition to the game. But in 2 years that’s the only thing I can think about. Not to mention about PvP or WvW (sure there’s Edge Of The Mists, but it’s a big “meh” for me).
In my opinion the Living Story shouldn’t be Guild Wars 2. It should be a part of Guild Wars 2. Every patch except the Feature Packs (every 6 months) are entirely about Living Story (and gemstore items). And honestly when I read the posts about this Feature Pack I’m wondering if it’s really worth waiting 6 months for this. It could have been implemented with time in each patch. I’m not sure it’s a good thing to build the hype for a patch where there’s almost nothing to say. Two blog posts are about tournament, one about “Big Changes” (I’m sorry but I facepalmed at this one), one about balance, and the others I don’t even know what to say about. I’m pretty sure every posts of this Feature Pack could have been shortened and fit in one or two blog posts.
So yeah, I’ve lost all hope about the game. I don’t even plan to move on another MMO, there’s nothing interesting right now. I’m just sad Guild Wars 2 is what it is now.
Just wanted to share my opinion.
TL:DR : I am currently unhappy about the state of the game, and all the people I knew in game were at some point unhappy about the game and quit. I’m starting to hate the Living Story and to lose all hope of seeing the game evolve.
(note : there are no spoilers in the text except at the end, you won’t know anything and I didn’t describe anything but note that there could be teasers)
Alright. I never thought I would say this but here it is.
I’ve always hated the living story. You guys don’t know what bad things I’ve been saying about the game since you’ve focused on it. Since release I’ve been what you could name a “guild wars 2 fanboy”. But for some times now I can’t help but see only the bad things of the game. I’m frustrated about so many things that I won’t enumerate here since it’s not the topic. But one of the thing that made me so mad was the living story. I didn’t like the characters, I didn’t feel anything for them, I didn’t like the story, the fact that every content were temporary, and most importantly the main villain that “did everything to everyone and everywhere all by herself”.
I must admit, I’ve liked some releases. As soon as you’ve started to put depth into the characters and the story (by the narration, especially the instanced ones (keep it up ! I love them and it gives a great guild wars 1 feeling)), I started to like the living story.
But here we are. After the excellent Origins Of Madness (that got me back into the game), we have the conclusion to this first act of the living story. You must know that 1 week ago, I was hoping that there wouldn’t be anymore living story releases, that you would have understand that is was bad or whatever. Now, I want more. These fights (the 3 assault knights + what is after) were epics. So was the Marionette when it was out. But let me say that this one was way better. I was feeling like I was doing something really big and this was amplified by the awesome music and all the sounds and dialogues (kuddos to the sound team and the composer(s) !). I personally loved the instanced scene and for once I felt something about the characters. Now I like them and I want to see them again.
So you deserved it : Good Job. Really. I just hope we’ll see more instances and cinematics and that you’ll find a way to make the future living story replayable.
Best of luck in the future and I’ll be glad to jump back in whenever new content is added. Be it new living story or new permanent content.
PS : Oh, and I never thought you would have made me like Scarlet.
/!\SPOILER/!\
I'm actually sad we killed her like that without asking any question. All I wanted for a while was to kill her and never hear of her again, and now I find myself wanting that I've heard more. So many questions remain unanswered (what did she saw in the eternal alchemy ?? I guess we'll learn soon enough what she was drilling for, but who can tell what was beyond the eternal alchemy now that she's dead ?)
I thought it was only me ! It is happening whether or not the sound is turned off. It’s very rare though, but kitten I hate when it happens. I can’t describe exactly how the sound is, but I’d say it’s like a loud “smack!” that echoes (more like a reverberation). I’m glad it never happened alone at night – as I didn’t know it was the game and I was wondering what could possibly make that sound – I would have freaked out.
PS : Last time I heard it was like 2 days ago.
Edit : Wow, didn’t know “dam(m)n” was censored.

Oh I’m sorry then, I didn’t read all the code of conduct (you can say it is bad I agree, but I did read some parts in case there were something important). I’ll delete that part.
Thank you for your answer by the way. Even if that doesn’t seem like an valid excuse. They could have made at least something to finish the top. Right now it’s like glued to the skin, don’t want to be arrogant or to make the impression I know what I’m talking about, I’m not sure what I’m talking about, but would there be a problem with the leggings if they had made a real end to the top ? I don’t think it would have clipped through the leggings, since the top of it isn’t glued to the skin and have some thickness. It’s like if the corset would have been the belly of my character, continuing under the leggings (I’m not sure what I’m saying is clear). Couldn’t they finished the design with that ? I’m pretty sure they could have.

Hey everybody. I’ve never posted anything in the forums. I do read a lot of stuff you guys are saying and I must say I’m surprised that this forum is so civilized compared to what I’ve seen elsewhere.
I play Guild Wars 2 since its beta. I’ve played to the first Guild Wars and I loved it (sadly way more than this one due to its lore). In Guild Wars 2 like in Guild Wars, one of the most important things to me is the look of my character(s). From the creation to the clothes/armors and weapons, I’ll take a lot of time to chose the things I like the most. When I say “a lot of time”, I mean even after 1 year I’m still not sure what is the best looking stuff for all of my characters.
With my thief, I try to keep a maximum of sets (all exotics with the stats and the runes I use) so I can change if I’m bored. The thing is : I love mixing different sets. I don’t like to be like “everyone” (well, I’m kinda forced to since all the medium armors are trenchcoats and I don’t like it on female characters (though it’s worse for the male characters since they have only that)). It’s been a long time now that I have the krytan armor. I love it. Reminds me of Guild Wars and it is not a coat (at least on females) I really like the corset. It fits my character well, but I’m really bored with the whole set (I’ve been through human cultural armor, duelist, magitech, and even viper just for the boots (and sometimes the skirt but I think it just not fits my char). But here’s the problem (see picture below) : THIS. I just can’t use the krytan corset out of the set, because it is simply not finished. And even worse : the corset itself, is, in fact, the skin of the character !
So my question for Arena Net is : Why did you not designed the armor piece per piece ? Don’t get me wrong the whole armor is very nice, but… why isn’t the corset finished ? It stops with a straight line. I don’t think it would have been hard to make it right without interfering with the pants.
I also have a question for you folks : how do you feel about this kind of unfinished armor pieces ? Not only “unfinished”, it could be a big part of the armor clipping through the body for example (Magitech leggings on human female… I used it for a while but this clipping issue annoyed me so much). Do you think something can be done by Arena Net or have you lost all hope (I’m pretty sure this has been already discussed several times) ?
