1&2 is kinda meh to me. A person’s over all stats including gear are what is scaled currently. Yes, you get stats for leveling. So you’re 1&2 would equate to about the same we have now. High levels with more stats than low levels. Plus, what lvl 1-10 can get top gear on it’s own? You’re in the mindset of alts.
3: You must not pug many dungeons, you can die sooo much in those that it’s not even funny. No body would be willing to wear exotic gear in a dungeon. Hell, some jerks run a dungeon naked after a few deaths as is.
4: all that will do is force everyone to have armorsmith on all their characters with 1 optional crafting skill.
5: Doesn’t take into account high end mat requirements for high end gear.
6: I quit Aion because of the crafting and the grind associated with crit crafting. I would quit GW2 in a heart beat if they did something like that.
A Rose by any other name will still smell as sweet.
Astronomically, it’s like calling a dog a cat.

Midnight also doesn’t really cut it (cloudy night, no stars?) and all other names including the word “star” that just come to my mind sound silly.
Solar midnight is the exact opposite of noon. The sun being equidistant from dawn and dusk at nadir. In Roman times Midnight literally meant the middle of the night. In modern times Midnight is the transition between days time of night. Where does one get the idea that midnight is a cloudy night with no stars?

It makes sense since there is a duality concept behind the two swords.
Personally though, I’d have named the weapons Radiance instead of Sunrise and Oblivion instead of Twilight. Which are much more inherent to the swords’ colours and particle effects.
No so much sense to me, as there are two twilights in a given day. Sunset to dusk, and dawn to sunrise are the twilight times. While there is only one sunrise. Thematically, Sunrise is after Dawn, both literally, and precursor to legendary. Dusk is the precursor to Twilight, but in in real life the night comes after dusk(dusk is the end of the twilight between sunset to night).
While radiance would be a decent name, I am fine with Sunrise(as it looks like sunrise in the graphics). I think I’d stick with midnight or maybe Cosmos for twilight.
The opposite of sunrise is sunset, but they look kinda ‘samey’ at a glance.

So, in fact, it’s not the name that bothers you but the graphic.
Remove the stars, make it sort of blue-purple, “problem” solved?
I was just suggesting the easiest solution instead of altering graphics. But hey, if they wanna throw in some purple n blue sky color and maybe some multi colored clouds, to represent an actual twilight, that’s fine too.

No, not because of cheesy books and movies., but because I like astronomy.
The graphic of Twilight is of a night sky. Neat. but that’s not what twilight is.

The time of twilight doesn’t have just a nights sky, or much of one at all(location dependent), as much as the glow of the sun in the atmosphere before sunrise, and post sunset. (yes, twilight comes twice in a 24 hour period)

Real twilight looks more like this:

I think the name should be changed to midnight, or something that is actually what it is.

Act 1:
– I liked the trick or treat doors. the randomness of what came out was pretty good. The only dislike was that doors would despawn after a short period. Meaning I’d see a door, and it would disappear as I was running to it. Sometimes the door would despawn while I was fighting something that came out of the door, which despawned the mob as well.
– The pumpkin carving was neat at first, but by the 100th pumpkin, it was a real chore.
– The incomplete book was very interesting, though the clues themselves were a bit merky leading me to think of several places, before I gave up and read a guide.
– The candy corn nodes were cute, though seemed out of place when in areas far removed from the zones with Halloween events in them.
Act 2:
– The completed Mad King book looks great. It was however impossible to know where to start the second chain of ghosts hunting without a guide. I found no clues to lead me there.
– The Clocktower was hard, and entertaining. It took me a couple of hours to get, but I was able to beat it. I think my platforming skills from console gaming really helped. I could see how it would be impossible for some, or many. that first 25% was the hardest part.
– Both the reapers and inquisitors Spvp areas were interesting, once I figured out what I was doing. I was pretty clueless what to do in Inquisitors the first time I went. Good thing I picked up on it fast.
– The Labyrinth was ‘ok’. getting the 10 events for the achievement seemed to be the main goal of the area. As once I was done with that, I just farmed the champ chests daily(getting junk everytime). I don’t even know if there was anything of interest in them. The drop rate of rare Halloween stuff was so rare that, I never actually heard of anyone getting anything from the chests once they were ‘fixed’.
Act 3:
– The Mad King instance was pretty fun the first few times. Random chest is really random. and Like usual I had very very bad luck. I farmed the instance for about 38 hours. Around 120+ runs. I received LOTS of greens. Vendored em all. I also obtained about a dozen exotics, 4 of which were black lion salvage kits, and the rest were all 76 to 78 exotics. zero on Mad King gear, or skins. Did get the shortbow, but bro called dibs, as he is the only one that has a character that can use it. So.. yeah lots of wasted time, when running dungeons would have netted me better money, and more lvl 80 gear. Could use an algorithm to force an event item drop after a certain amount of attempts, so that I wouldn’t feel like I just wasted my life. Once, the minimap bugged causeing the regular map to bug, which removed the waypoint from my map. I had tot be resed, whenever I died instead of being able to chose the WP.
Act 4:
– Short and not as grand as the previous acts. Felt kind of like a fizzled end. Entertaining on it’s own, I think it could have been swapped with Act 3’s dungeon, and tweak the story a bit to you subduing the Mad King. Act 3 felt like it could have been a decent ending.

Honestly if my artificer could craft ‘shrinking’ potions, I’d so mail them to the norms who have their crotch resting on my character’s shoulders, and kitten all in ma screen T.T
It’d be hilarious if the Mad King just transformed everyone into chickens for the duration of the puzzle. Then there’s be no complainers about the body blockers
.
that…
IS POSSIBLE!
lol
I still eventually beat it once the norns, that were so big their butts were in my face, disappeared. It was ‘edge of my seat thrilling’ to me.
Completed it on:
Human War 80. no speed
Human Ele 39, no speed
Silvari Thief 73, no speed.
Learned to jump with the W pressed down for 95% of the tower.
Can I make thiese chests with the crafted mystery tonics from Artificer or only the ones found in BL chests?
Yes. Yes you can. infact I did so already.
Nail, head. Good job Kim.
zaxziakohl. One can calculate the ballpark odds of winning a streak of hands in poker since the odds of hands dealt are known. One cannot calculate odds of winning at RNG computer game loot with out knowing the odds beforehand, or without playing/having a large enough sample size of guinea pigs to estimate the odds. And boy are a lot of them Guinea pigs mad.
Glad I’m the type to let others leap first, and I watch how they do.
Err. Casinos tell you the odds of winning. Does that detract from the enjoyment? hardly. What it does do is keep the casino from ‘tweaking the odds’, and it informs the customers of reality so that they won’t feel cheated when they don’t win.
I too am a lover of unique looks. grats to those who are lucky. I’m not lucky and have never been lucky, so I have to brute force with math to see how long it will take to get something. Hard to do the math unless Anet posts the odds, or I see enough people talking about the odds to get a general idea.
(edited by Soul.5923)
Illustrating the issue people are having of course. OP assumes people are being entitled. I have illustrated that it was that lack of defining what the ‘chance’ was that was the problem. Since there’s a lot of whinners who claim they would have skipped buying keys if they knew how low the chances were. Not understanding that is sad.
A chance to win! That could be anywhere between the chance that there is a teapot orbiting Uranus and the chance of winning paper rock scissors.
Did you know your chance to win the lotto goes up for every ticket you buy so long as you pick different numbers?
Did you know you can find the odds to win the lotto on the back of the ticket or at the store you bought it from?
Neither is the case with black lion chests. Many people are feeling grief because Anet didn’t specify that the skins would be really rare. Much less list the actual odds of winning a particular skin.
Did you know you have a higher chance of getting struck by lightning versus winning the lotto?
True. I don’t think anyone would disagree. This is not blackjack where the odds go up and down per hand. It’s more of a roulette where the odds are independent of previous attempts. Being able to read the odds of winning is required here in the states, so we’re trained that way. This is the internet though, so all we can do is be loud in the hopes that we’re heard.
What you get, you keep. The nodes and loot tables that include the festive items on the other hand will be removed.
The achievements for the event list a 4 path dungeon. so…. yeah
you can learn the recipes even if you can’t use them. Thus if you get a recipe on your main, bank it for your alt. Your alt can take it out of the bank and learn the recipe.
Indeed, that would be the best solution. I’d also wish the anti-farming didn’t work on chests personally. Because it means I loot 1 chest every 10 to 20 minutes instead of 100 in 30 seconds. <.<
" They knew it was a chance and when they lost…"
While true, it is also only half the story. The key buyers knew there was only a chance. but they didn’t know what the chance was. It could have been 1 in 3, 1 in 10, or even 1 in 25. No one but the Anet devs know the exact chance. So they took the chance that it was better than 1 in 50 or 1 in 100, and lost that bet.
Now if the players knew the exact chance of a drop before anti-farming hit the chest, you would be in the clear to say “You knew the chances”.
I’d just like it if Anet would post the odds of item drops before anti-farming algorithms kicks in so we can make an informed decision. People like to compare chest to casinos, but atleast casinos print the odds of winning.
I would think people would complain less if they knew the odds before committing. I think the popular political word would be “Transparency”.
MC chests say account bound. Yet they act like they are soulbound since I can’t take them out of the bank on any other character except the one who originally got them.
Here's the thing about "getting" a legendary, give or take 3 years.

odds, odds, all I see is odds.
Wanna know some interesting odds?
1 in 5 people will die of heart disease
1 in 7 people will die of cancer
1 in 23 people will die of a stroke
1 in 36 from an accidental injury
1 in 100 from a car wreck
I personally have never drawn these hands in poker:
Royal Flush 649,739 : 1
Straight Flush 72,192.33 : 1
four of a kind 4,164 : 1
Full house 693.17 : 1
Flush 507.8 : 1
Straight 253.8 : 1
I have drawn a 3 of a kind a couple times before. 46.3 : 1.
I have really really bad luck. So much so that if it were actually 1 in 100 chance to win a precursor, I wouldn’t win in 500 attempts or more.
Luck is something I hate, and all I can do is sigh at Anet’s decision to RNG precursors. Work, I can do. Gamble… it’s not in the genetics to win.
I would rather be forced to solo some god awful champion, that kills almost everyone, to get it versus rng.
I’d rather get a special seed from the Silvari tree, and water it with a collection of blood and tears from all of my characters everyday for two weeks, then go to an npc, who only shows up on the night of a blue moon, to get a spell cast on it, so that it will blossom into a special flower that Logan desires as a present for the queen. Once given, the queen becomes so amazed by your actions that she lets you pick a single precursor from the royal treasury, which is bind on pickup!
