Full ascended+stat infusions is more than 5% damage increase, plus take in consideration the overall damage/support increase with a full ascended raid group of 10 players.

A 5% increase to individual player effectiveness, across 5 players, is a 5% increase to group effectiveness… not, say, 25%.
Math.
Also it was fun.
Provided you weren’t looking to play a druid or raid.
I wouldn’t have pre-purchased if I knew the druid (the first elite spec referenced? and the only one I was really excited for) was going to be shoehorned in for released. I certainly wouldn’t have paid $100 for 3 weekends of Dragonhunter.
But the Black Lion keys it came with made me 2000g, so whatever. I guess I technically profited from the pre-purchase.
Fool me once…
So veteran players who pre-order get 2 character slots now?
The one that came with the HoT pre-order originally, plus the additional “veteran appreciation” slot?
I already got one slot the day after I pre-ordered. Does the second slot come when HoT launches? They said it would take a while. Should I be concerned that I haven’t gotten the 2nd slot yet? Or am I interpreting the 2 slots wrong?
I’m confused.
The game is valued at $50 USD, which is worth about 150 reais.
Are you asking them to sell you the game for 50 reais ($16 USD)?
That Anet should subsidize Brazil’s poor economy?
In that case, I want to pay for my game in Chinese yuan. $50 USD = 310 RMB —- I demand to pay 50 RMB ($8 USD) for HoT!!

Nothing is free….
… except the free content/updates you were promised when you purchased the game.
Anyone feel like the content/updates or even bug fixes were lacking while the staff was diligently focused on an update that was most definitely not free? Maybe it’s just me.
I’m still going to buy the ultimate edition, because I’m an adult and it’s not worth the time arguing over $20. And once you figure the 4000 gems and 1 character slot, which I’ll probably purchase over the next year anyway, reduce the cost of the ultimate edition to only $40… but I don’t like that this digital content is basically forced upon me—I’d much rather just spend the $40 (though it should really be $20-30 if you subtract the cost of the core game).
And even then, $40 for what? Some horizontal progression? 1-2 zones? For the last decade, an expansion has typically been a new continent, new race, new class, dozens of new zones, etc. In recent years, expansions have at least meant new dungeons, raids, occasionally vertical progression…. maybe/hopefully they’re not telling us how much new content there will be?
And as for the “waah you don’t pay a sub, shut up” argument… most seriously players have spent more money on gems than a subscription fee. It’s no secret that free-to-play models have been more profitable than subs for that reason.
OR MAYBE this is all driven by NCSOFT’s financials, give those a gander.
But with this post, I’m done caring about the topic. It’s a few hours salary for something that will give weeks worth of entertainment.
I agree and wish the post mentioning Spirit Shards was more clear, or that they would confirm this. There has to be other hoarders out there that want to know.
Most likely case:
If you have 100 skill points on your level 80 and 50 finished skill challenges:
You will get 100 spirit shards.
You will get 450 hero points.Nothing lost and no worry. Spending no or later makes no difference.
Also it isn’t a conversion from one to another. You are awarded hero points based on level and challenges. They aren’t magicking one thing to another.
Interesting. So the assumption is you will receive lvl 1-80 worth of Hero Points, however many Skill Challenges completed worth of Hero Points, and THEN any Skill Points you may have on your character, regardless of source, will be converted to shards? That’s best case scenario—I hope it’s true.
Does that mean the flip side of this is…. don’t unlock unnecessary skills with Skill Points right now, as it’s ultimately a waste… unless there is a refund.

I’ve seen lots of discussion regarding the skill point conversion, but I haven’t seen anyone ask this specific question—then again, the search isn’t always friendly.
Let’s say you have a level 80 character with 100 skill points—and they have NEVER purchased any skills (it can happen). For the sake of this discussion, let’s say that 50 skill points were earned while leveling, and 50 skill points were earned by completing skill challenges in the world.
My question is… should I go ahead and blow the 50 skill points I got from leveling on mystic forge items, because they’re essentially going to be given back to me with the next release? And what about the skill points earned through skill challenges?
Am I sitting on a mounting of skill points that will either be simply converted if I do nothing, or refunded & converted if I spend them (since many are from the leveling 1-80 process)? Has procrastination on not buying skills = free stuff?
Tried after today’s patch.
Kept my fingers crossed.
Still bugged.
