I so want to buy one of these, only for the fact that i would never need to purchase another pick. EVAH!
BUT… I’m just wondering how long before there will be a new mat with a higher pick? I know it will eventually change, but I would sure hate to lose $$$ and not get my time out of it, if there is something coming.
Anyone know?

Okie Dokie… thanks all.. i’ll keep reading up on what I can find.

still there are either bugs in aggro or it does not work as described on wiki.
About a month ago my necro friend made a new test build that got PERM AGGRO everywhere in open world (mobs/champs) and dungs. It was quite funny how the mobs/bosses followed/attacked only him while wohle party was 100% ignoredWe tried to figure it out what he did to get perm aggro (he switched from pvt/well necro to rampager/condi build). According to wiki those are important factors:
1. closest target to them – he was the furthest still mobs went only after him
2. who is dealing damage – for the tests he did 0 damage – did not helped
3. top damage dealers – condi buildand as I said he did 0
4. who is using a shield / has more toughness and overall armor – no shield, he acutaly switched from PVT to PPC so lower tou.Eventually he had to change the build cuz it was unplayable for him.
Ahhh ic… thanks, I’ll go give that link a read and see if i can make some sense of it… but i’m not the only one who gets agro right from the go, and by doing nothing? so it could be something in the game that needs fixing at some point? or should i look into trying something different? (don’t really need to since i live 90% plus of the times)…
can get a bit annoying when I am Tanking most of the time as a Caster :-p (or running).

hahahaha.. nah… just trying to understand agro in GW2 better… like to have an “All Rounded” feel for any game I play… so just want to make sure I’m not doing something silly, because I’m playing GW2 as an old MMO mentality.

Hi… just wanted to know if anyone can better explain how agro in this game works.
I am 80 D/D (open world) & Staff Mostly (dungeons/fractals)… I’ve noticed that I gain agro from the get go of fights, and I have not done anything yet… for example…
In CM (zerg after zerg of mobs)…. I stand back (a good way) while the Guard/War or who ever pulls… I have not done anything but just standing/waiting for the mobs to come back with the puller…. at least 1 or 2 mobs beat straight for me, and bypass others (have not cast anything yet).
Don’t want to post a long post… so basically i’m just wondering if I am doing something wrong on my end, where I gain a lot of agro from the start… (muhhaahahahah… I stay alive though) :-) I play my toon attack/defense comfortably, and just need to learn how agro works, so I can be a much better player that way.
Any way to agro dump also as a caster? or just using your CC’s and such is what we are to do in this game?
Thanks for help/answers

There are more options BUT they’re far more restrictive AND time-consuming.
1 – The ‘Kill 40x’ quests are ridiculous. Before you could kill whatever you want and play the game as you would like to play it. For me, I’d rack up these kills in the cursed shore where the loot and events are relevant to my level. But now, i’m forced to go to these zones to get 40-80 kills, all the time wondering, why am I sent here? Besides slogging it out for the daily quest, I have no real purpose here.
2 – 3x Skill Points – OK~ but this is still quite grindy, perhaps 1h30 of events to get this. This daily is ok for people still leveling but for casual 80 players, especially for those who have little time after coming home from work, are forced to do activities that give XP. Some activities in GW2 are more lucrative for XP than others, either way, this is time consuming.
3 – Daily Fractal – Wow, a forced dungeon. I don’t run this dungeon often, I don’t have the time. I actually join the dungeon my guildmates happen to be doing or, join a lower level dungeon with low level guild members. How about changing this to, do ANY DUNGEON OF YOUR CHOICE.
I know people are going to get all defensive here but the main reason why I’m playing this was because I was drawn by the notion that arenanet conveyed to me: to allow players to play the game as they want it.
At first I was like, oh cool, individualistic dailies. Maybe I can do dailies that I care about! But now it seems more like ‘here are some dailies that arenanet wants you to do in order to stimulate the economy, get more player activity in instance X, etc etc’
Don’t underestimate the size of your casual market, time-consuming dailies are the exact opposite of what we want. The casual market is bigger than ever at this point in time, like it or not. Now, get this: Dailies that prove to be a chore IS NOT a selling point.
The dailies must be generalized enough such that they are applicable to every player and are gradually completed minute by minute by doing the stuff they’re interested in. Now this would be a feature I would be thrilled to tell my colleagues and friends about.Example:
- Kill Any 50 monsters of your choice
- Make 10 PvP kills in a map of your choice
- Do a dungeon of your choiceThe old dailies were like this, there was freedom in what you can do. And the time spent, as you would normally play, would eventually complete it. Now it’s more like, I have to do X number of activities I don’t care about ON TOP of what I’d normally want to do. I really don’t have the time and guess what, dailies become a chore and get BORING.
I’m not whining about making it easier (not like dailies should be based on difficulty anyway), i’m asking for dailies to be more relevant to any player’s daily play.
what this person said… I’m a casual player (PvE) and mostly in for dungeon’s with guild mates. By the time I get home from work, my brain is mush and I just want to chill before we start.
Playing the game how I want is/was very appealing to me. I did not have to think of anything, but just go on my merry way. Guild call to arms, we form up and do what ever it is.
I don’t mind doing the dailies from before becuase I did not find it as a check list. It was merely completed by me doing what ever I felt like doing.
Then came laurels/new dailies… was a bit different but ok… i could still complete it and have some fun and not have to think on it too much.
Now, I feel as if i have to pick and choose… so basically I don’t log in for the dailies (now losing out on laurels – so no asscend gear). I’ll just log in for dungeon’s with guild mates and then call it a night when that is over.
Still a decent game… i just hope they don’t go the way of telling us how to play the game.

New to the game… so really can’t say much on the matter. I’ve found that just running with random peeps; they always love having an Ele around… I did not know why at first, but after really diving deeper into the toon and what it is… a “Utility Class” and not a "Pure Caster, per say) I really start to shine with the toon.
I’ve done 1 CM run and got my rear end handed to me… it was because i did not learn yet, how to play dungeons. The folks in there was very helpful, and they themselves was learning as we went.
I now know how to play with a group (because I’ve been solo all this time – I’m good at that) because I’ve joined a guild, and plan to be running it regularly with them…
My point… keep your head up man.. this is one of the most EXPLOSIVE class’s I have ever played in any game… join a guild and see if you can get some buds to run with ya… trust me, no one will refuse ya if ya chilling…. or your looking for competitive stuff? I believe you said PvE in your OP.

Hi “Newb Here” – not sure if this was answered before… i completed the dailies last night and got 1 laurel for that.. kewl… my real question is how much laurels am I missing out on if I don’t complete the monthly since I don’t pvp?
Thanks.. catch ya in game!
I don’t think they are giving Laurels for the monthly this month as people who completed it early would lose out. They say that a monthly gives 10 Laurels though so that’s how much you will usually get.
ahhh.. so in 1 day ya can make a total of 11 points (laurels)… so by not doing the monthly i get 1 laurel a day…. :-(
k.. gotcha.

Well, GW2 is my first MMO and the elementalist looked really cool with their flashy skills but I heard they were pretty hard to play. I rolled warriors, guardians and thieves first to gain some skill and after I’ve tried all classes, elementalist and mesmer really feel unique to play.
I love caster classes in general just because of how cool their skills look
What that person said… PvE (PvP or WvW has no meaning to me) :-) oooh… and my D/D and Mini Skirt combo :-p

As for cantrips: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Cantrip
hehehehe… was “MOSTLY” looking for this :-) sorry, sorry… please no hate me. crafting at this time is second to my understanding the class on being a better solo player and being a good group player by using my fields/finishers better…
I really didn’t know if i was combo’ing right and such by not doing this cantrips.. so once again, I will LISTEN/TAKE any advice on anything that make me better in game so type away.. i will read…
okie dokie /thumb up :-)

When you get to higher crafting and levels when you make exotic armors and things you put Imbued Inscriptions in the fourth slot.
ahhhh.. so at 400, I’ll start seeing this take effect? thanks :-)
The Founding Fathers
Elementalists are the type of class that requires players to use all abilities at their disposal for a greater effect than the sum of their individual abilities, and that by itself makes the class very engaging.
Out of the 5 professions I’ve played, the Elementalist has been my favorite. The only thing that would turn you off as a new Elementalist is the learning curve and the armor and health scaling in lower levels. Ranged enemies will eat you at low levels, so if you can find someone to level up with.
How does the Elementalist perform in Dungeons? Are they a highly sought after class? or are they the unwanted guest of a group?
Elementalist provides the best heals and cleansing of all classes, and the most diverse boon support. They also provide the most diverse amounts of combo fields. They can be tanky with the correct spec, so survivability shouldn’t be much of an issue when you’re at the level where you would run most dungeons. I wouldn’t say they’re highly sought after given the design of most of the dungeons but a competent Elementalist can be a boon to any party, moreso than a warrior or ranger.
Very, very… good answer!

Cantrips… I’ve been playing this game for atleast 1mnt… loving it by the way :-) what are cantrips really and what does it have to do with me?
Ele D/D or Stave (me usually run)
Thanks…
Oh! and i’m 320 in tailoring… what is the fourth slot for in crafting? for the life of me i can’t think of what i can put in there… dye for color?
sorry.. newb getting by the day /salute

Nah… i mean.. that after the nerf I’m going to keep playing D/D…. i just wanted to know if it will still be viable or i’ll feel like a truck rolled over me? :-p
The Founding Fathers
This is what we need from a 30 point arcane trait.
1st skill: something that will support whichever trait line your in, such as EA.
2nd skill: The same as 5 point arcane except that all traits from your previous line are carried over for 5 seconds. That means, when I switch to lightning from fire I can also get ever skill cast for 5 sec is fire and lighting (so the 1 might per fire skill 30pointer) 10%extra damage in fire (and the one in air) and anything else I have in fire.If I change to water the I now have air+water traits for 5 sec.
That’s pretty interesting… almost like element twisting

Ok… will go check it out… still didn’t answer me question…
Can i still look forward to wielding my blood dripping daggers with my mini skirt on, or do i have to go for a dress and stick granny style?
:-p

Howdy.. newb to game, so please forgive the chiming in. Where can i find this info? is it in the patch notes or something?
Basically… I’ve always played Casters since I got burned out of Tanking/add Tanking. I’ve had not been playing long, but came to realize on the first day that the traditional days of standing and just blowing 1 spell over and over and then another for a hit is not what this game is about.
I started off with the Staff, because I thought that is what all casters use (naive at the time – didn’t know we could use other weaps), and also stayed in Fire because I always like being a fire Mage.
Long story short, I went with the D/D, because it has been one of the most fun casters I have ever played. Not only can I be a caster and put down some decent dmg single & AoE (and die like a glass if i don’t use my skills right), I can also bring allot of other cool things to Groups/NPC’s/Dynamic Events… I don’t PvP, or WvW… mostly here for end game content and just having fun with friends (casual player).
So from what I am reading here D/D is not going to be good to stay in? :-( I really don’t want to turn into a stand and cast spells again type of person… I really like the fighting style that casters have in this game, because it is exciting and at times frustrating (button clicker).
I’m not gonna give up on the class, so I just wanted to brace myself for a let down if it is coming. I’ll give a better response and thoughts when I’ve read up some more on what’s going on. Better to have a good opinion instead of a stupid one.
Thanks for help… see ya in the game!
