Hi,
I’m experimenting with using 6 Runes of Tormenting on my Warrior (Sword/ Sword).
Sword #4- Torment currently (13.5 seconds before the runes)
Sigil of Tormenting 30% chance on crit to AoE Torment (8 seconds)
Runes #6 AoE Torment on Healing (unknown duration?)
With the Runes, I should get an extra 45% duration. Will this added duration apply to all Torment applications?
The tooltip for Sword #4 does not seem to reflect the increased duration.
Thanks.
Hi,
I’m experimenting with using 6 Runes of Tormenting on my Warrior (Sword/ Sword). Plus I have +10% condition duration from Strength trait line.

Fantastic explanations.
Thank you very much for the thoughtful responses.
Excited to try these new build combos out.
…lol yeah I do remember playing a Half Giant Werebear Warrior in Shadowbane… loads of fun.
Fantastic responses both!
Both your trait choices were a surprise to me, as I was looking more at 10,30,0,10,20
II
I, VIII, XI

IV
III, X
Rabid gear with Grenth runes.. I like. Gotta go get both now and try this out.
I already use sword/ sword & longbow so this works great.. since I’m used to the weapon skills…
Appreciate the tips too… I did not know about the other classes “fields” to add chill. Cool.
Very helpful thorough explanations.
Thanks again!
Edit:
Is “chill” effect the same as “frozen”?
Rune(s) of the Elementalist #6 +20% Burning and Frozen duration. (?)
Also is “chill” affected by condition duration?
or is it considered a movement impairing effect that requires “+ chill duration” to extend duration (i.e. paralyzation, stun, knockdown, etc..)
Thanks,
Looking for Spec Build:
Hi, I’m interested in creating two separate “spec” builds. As a former “Shadowbane” player, I always enjoy experimenting with specialist type builds… just fun to play something different and shake things up… Not interested in the FotM or current “meta”.
The first build to be based around maximum “chill”.
The second build to be based around maximum health regen/ health steal.
Has anybody got these? Looking for the “extreme” with these builds.
Cannot use Hammer or Greatsword (because I don’t like those weapons), but all other weapons are ok.
Thanks,
Very close to my All Purpose Warrior build.
Mine is posted in the “Post Your Build” section (pg 3 near bottom).
Always looking for ways to be more effective though… feel free to add comments.
This is my All Purpose Warrior: Sword/ Sword and Longbow.

Since I enjoy PvE, Dungeons, and WvW, I wanted a build that could easily adjust on the fly to whatever situation.
Right now, I’m enjoying WvW a lot. I always run with the zerg. I’m not real good at PvP so I try to keep skills and utilities that require less management. I attack and support with lots of fire fields, pin downs, knockdowns, and cripples. I constantly swap weapons back and forth so I’m never waiting for a cooldown to attack.
My #8 utility skill is flexible for whatever the situation calls for: signet, bolos, banners, shouts, etc…
Sword mainhand for the mobility (plus I like the look of my flaming swords); combined with discipline trait “movement skills break immobilize” it’s a frequent life saver.
I use the Sword offhand because both #4 and #5 have relatively short cooldowns and great benefits… ranged torment and bleed/ adrenaline gain. Other offhand weapons may be stronger but seem more situational.
For PvE or Dungeons I just swap out the Sword/ Sword for Axe/ Mace, since my trait line is heavily focused on Power it works.
I basically came to this build with two priorities in mind: flexibility and mobility.
I have never seen any other build even close to this before. Most people don’t seem to like the Tactics trait line, but I love it… boon duration, and so much flexibility… banners, shouts, Warhorn, Longbow,… this trait line gives me options.
I play on Darkhaven server.
Feel free to comment… I love to experiment and change things around.
Happy New Year!
Customize UI
- ability to individually adjust the size of each boon/ condition icon
…example: i want the fire condition icon larger than others cause my damage is +10% to burning targets… or because my eyes are bad and they are just too small when lots of them are popping and dropping.
Gem Store Item
new “racial” transmute stone
Character Creation
More Human face options at character creation/ or else new face options to the total makeover kit.
How about a new “racial item” transmute stone.
Sold in gem store of course.
Yes, we need more guild logo options…
Great Idea.
Similar to purchasing a new emote or new kill finisher.
Purchase a new “x” animation
Yes, very helpful.
Thank You.
..testing “burn duration” with the wrong skill (F1) = guaranteed wrong results.
Hello,
I play a Warrior with Longbow and Sword/Mace.
Yes, I know Greatsword is the “mac-daddy damage dealer”…but, I love using a bow and especially prefer the way the sword/ shield or sword/ mace look and feel when playing.
With this in mind, I have been trying to find the strongest “burn” damage build possible.
I actually utilize multiple conditions, but burning is my favorite because, I love seeing the flaming AoE’s and flaming arrows…
Most of the articles and postings seem to indicate that conditions and burning in particular are “bugged” in many ways.
Questions.
1.
Where can I go to practice/ experiment with my damage & rotations?
(open world/ not heart of the mists Golems)? I go to the target dummies near the dungeon token vendors in Lion’s Arch, but they do not show the conditions. Is there another place, so I can actually see my conditions as they are applied?
2.
It seems that condition duration and burning duration are different and do not stack. (i.e. +40% condition duration food and + 15% burning duration runes do not stack because they are different).
3. Regardless of how much condition duration or burning duration I have, my longbow F1 still “ticks” five times over five seconds. I have tried multiple different combinations (runes + sigils + food + traits).
4. Supposedly, burning duration is rounded to the nearest 1/4 second, but the damage is applied only at the full 1 second? Meaning that any + duration you have that does not get you to the full second mark is wasted.
5. Longbow (mouse-over) tool-tip is irrelevant and meaningless to the actual burning duration applied?
6. In heart of the mists (practice Golems) burning condition seems to apply and then continuously reset or reapply the duration multiple times (but for various duration amounts). This resetting of duration seems to be not related to the amount of burning duration/ condition duration I have on my character?
7. It seems that for now, the best (only feasible) way to maximize burning damage is to forget about duration and just max out the condition damage modifier (1000 +/- for optimal?)?
8. The pre-release notes for the upcoming patch (October 5th?) seem to indicate a new way of displaying the conditions and corrected (mouse over) tool-tips?
9. Is there a way to re-size the boon/ condition icons? I’d like to make them a little bit larger and easier to see, independent of other items on the screen.
Thank You,
Hi,
I’m looking to join an organized guild on the Darkhaven server.
PvE, WvW, Dungeons, and sPvP… I like it all.
Mostly, I like to be in a group regardless of the activity.
I want “organized” teamwork: calling out targets and objectives, staying together, avoiding the mindless mob zerg, helping each other, spec builds, …
I mostly play in the evenings (EST) during the week and all times on the weekends.
Voice chat is a must (TS, Vent, Mumble…)
Thanks,
Hello,
Thanks for the tips here.
So I put a Sigil of Paralyzation on my mainhand Sword.
What Sigil(s) would work best for my offhand Shield?
.note: my build is 0/0/30/30/10 and normally i run the shout-healing, hp regen.
my crit chance is super low.
i sometimes swap out and run instead sword/sword or sword/mace
my second set is normally a longbow (100% crit on weapon swap)
advice appreciated.
Great Idea!
Please add hot key/ skill slot for consumables.
Absolutely!
Please add more human head and hair style options.
Agreed, polar bear-man would be cool race to play.
I like the concept and face of the Charr, but I think they look too “hunched over” especially when running.
Thumbs up to polar bear-man race. If he is standing straight and tall.
