Guild Wars 2

Well hopefully it’ll be around Sept 1 which works because I’ll get the cash to buy it by the 29th at the latest, hopefully I’ll be able to grab it before its gone. It just bugs me so much that my ranger is firing arrows he’s getting from the air….been wanting a quiver on him for a while. Appreciate the replies!

So when I logged in today, and went to the Gem Store to see what was new, I saw “Rox’s Quiver” had returned. I unfortunately get paid this Friday and as such don’t have the cash on me to get it now. So I was just wondering, how long will it [most likely] stay in the store? I logged in today after roughly a few weeks-a month of not playing so I have no clue how long it’s been in there. I hope it’ll last till at least Friday, but I’m not sure. Does anyone know how long it’ll be available? I’ll be mad if I miss it again, but I suppose I can’t do anything about it. Still, hoping it’ll last till at least Friday.
Any info would be much appreciated!

Cool thanks! I couldn’t find the gem store quiver in the gem store, guess I missed out on that one, so I guess I’ll just have to make due till 80. and I have mostly been doing open world PvE so guess I’ll stick to longbow, but I keep a shortbow on me just in case I do dungeons at all. Also use a sword/torch as secondary just because it seems to work with me. Appreciate the help though, thanks a ton! And the patch notes look pretty good too overall!

Mostly doing open world PvE, maybe a few dungeons thrown in sometimes. spvp and wvw will focus more on at upper levels but for now mostly open world PvE stuff or dungeons on occasion. Also, does anyone know if I can get my guy a proper quiver? Can’t seem to find one on the trading market, and gem store had nothing I could see either. It just bugs me that my guy pulls arrows out of nowhere. Gold or gems, idc what i have to use just is there any kind of quiver i could get, even if its purely aesthetic? Also is the short bow or long bow preferably for my open world PvE needs? I’ve tried both, and like both, just don’t know what the more used/“better” (note the air quotes) is!

Hey all!
I played GW2 at launch on and off, and due to personal issues, I had to quit at around 53 on my Ranger. I came back about a week or so ago, and have raised him to 55 but am still confused about him.
I mostly just need help with the build. I’ve looked up some guides, and the BTR build looks good, but not 100%, and weapon choice (been running LB+Sword/Torch/Horn but just not sure if SB are better). So if anyone could help me on those fronts it would be much appreciated!

So recently I created a new email address that I will be using more regularly. I have changed my log in and account email for multiple other sites (Origin, SWTOR, PSN to name a few) so that my new email address is also my log in (to sites where you log in with email addresses) to both those sites and game clients. For some reason, I cannot find the same thing on the GW2 site. I went to the forum and hit “edit profile” and changed what appeared to be “account email” to my new email, but when I tried logging in with the new email, it said invalid information. When I logged in with my previous email, it let me in. Yet up top under my account name it says my new email, not my old one. Does it take a day or two to update? Or can I just not change my log in email at all?
Any help and fast responses would be appreciated.

i searched asura jungles couldn’t find jaguar..is there a specific location? I know its supposed to be called juvenile jaguar but all i saw were hostile regular ones..also ive put some points into BM since then and in to marksmanship and im doing pretty well with shortbow/sword/horn combo may try the torch if it works better though.

I started a Ranger and just got it to 11 recently, and am still totally confused on builds. I will be about 90% PvE by myself mostly, sometimes in a group but rarely until 80. I’m sure by then I’ll have it down, but right now I need a good PvE build. If anyone could suggest one or at least point me in the right direction it would be appreciated. I’m using a Longbow/GS combo throwing in Shortbow sometimes here and there if it makes a difference.

don’t have a screen shot but i have to ask, how do you get actual quivers? I see my guy reaching back to pull an arrow out of the air on his back and its bugging me like crazy. Is it a cape or something? If I can find one then I could post a proper shot…also what is the lowest level you have to be to attain such a quiver?

Let me first say I am fairly new to the game, started about a week ago and have a level 11 War and 10 Ele. I was thinking of making a Ranger, since ranged classes are usually a good choice for new player. The Ele is super squishy and in PvE I die quite a bit, not to mention in PvP…the Warrior is good as well but I’m having trouble with ranged classes on him as is natural. I usually start out as a ranged class but I wanted to mix things up this time, but I was just wondering, as the title states, is a Ranger in this game a good class for a newbie to get a good understanding of the game while also being able to hit cap relatively easier so I can get my other characters up as well?
I apologize if I sound FOTM or bandwagon-y or something but I just want to do well in the game while also getting to understand the game a lot better since a good deal of it is new to me beyond basic MMO concepts.

How exactly do I access the PvP area? Can I get there from anywhere or do I have to be in a town/capital? Also I don’t really understand crafting just yet….I just did artifice since it seems I can make sta kitten and scepters and stuff but I didn’t do anything with it since I don’t really get it…the materials I need to make stuff seem to be stuff I can only get on the player market but maybe I’m doing something wrong. Also, how do I access my bank? I just keep dropping/selling stuff lol. Any guides or tips there would be helpful, as I seem to have gotten the game down otherwise.

I’m on Yaks Bend just because my friend chose it and it has a high pop which is always nice. I tried Ele, and while its fun, I seem to die a lot and am finding myself under leveled always…Its like, I was level 5 when it said level 4, then the next quest suddenly wants me to be 6, and I’m like, okay I can handle that. then the next quest decides to rocket up to 8?? I’ve never been a good leveler, and I’ve tried to do all the heart quest things i could find plus any events, and am still underleveled….I’m thinking about switching to warrior or maybe guardian until I get the ropes down but idk

Thanks for all the answers, nice to see a helpful community! As far as I can tell, Warrior seems good but it seems they’re not to great in PvP, which will be something I will be doing a good deal of. In that case, would an Ele/Guardian/Ranger do better? I’m leaning on Ranger or Guardian but Ele seems cool to maybe I’ll just give them all a shot and see which one suits me best. Well I just got the game, am in process of installing now. My friend just started playing as well, albeit he has a few days lead on me, but we will be playing together a lot. Recently I’ve played SWTOR so I understand basic MMO concepts (terms, class roles, PvP, etc.) but GW2 seems more complicated. As such, I hope someone could be kind enough to answer some questions or direct me to a forum/area that can.

1) What is the best class for a beginner to GW2 (not MMOs, just this one in particular). I was thinking Warrior or Elementalist, and probably a Norn race since turning into bears and stuff seems cool.

2) How do builds work here? In SWTOR, it was a tree that went upwards with skills both passive and active, and there were 3 different branches. Is it like that?

3) I’m familiar with the general key bindings, but can they be remapped in any way? I.E. can replace number 1 with say, B? Also I noticed only 10 hot keys? How does that work exactly?

4) Lastly, how does currency work? In SWTOR we had credits as gold or whatever it is here, and commendations for things such as planetary comms, PvP comms, and higher level Operations/Raids comms.

Any and all answers would be most appreciated!

So I just got GW2 today from my local GameStop (I like having physical discs still) and put Disc 1 into my CD drive. It was fine until it hit 3%. I could here my laptop slowing down in reading the disc, and it just sat at 3% for around 5-10 minutes. Then it said something like “Install failed” and gave me options to Abort, Ignore, or something else I don’t remember. I just hit Ignore so that it went to the downloading from the site, and am downloading the French version since the English one seems not to work, and will just switch back to English after its done (is that right? I really hope so!) Anyway, does anyone know why the disc isn’t working? I tried restarting my laptop to no avail. I’ve had problems before with downloading like the game runs slower in game for some reason, does that happen here to anyone? Also any solution to the disc problem would be appreciated.
