I posted these over on https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Suggestions-Quality-of-Life-Changes as well, but they are good ideas for the gemstore, so I’ll double post. If a mod thinks that’s a bad thing, please remove this post and let me know why. Thanks.

  • Infinite Gathering tool skins. Let me buy skins so I could change my Chop-it-all Logging Axe into a Cosmic Logging tool. I love all the different animations you’ve come up with, but I really can’t afford to buy every single tool.
  • Infinite Gathering tool upgrade/mods. You just released the Unbound magic tools, and I’ve used the frostbitten ones as well. Getting unbound magic or snowflakes, or whatever, every time you gather is a good idea. But it would be better if I could apply a mod to my infinite gathering tools to get whatever effect I want.
  • Give us a Boost Box. I have a ton of boosts, like the Celebration Booster, sitting around in my bank than never get used. A boosts box that all account characters can access would be very helpful.

Yes! Toybox! Please! Save my inventory! There are so many things that are stuffing my inventory. A toybox would be a god-send!

QoL Suggestion (overdue) : Build Sets

Build Sets

Being able to set up a “build” for your character so that you can quickly switch between traits and class-specific options while out of combat. There would be 3 slots, with perhaps the option to purchase more build slots per-character from the gemstore.

Why This Is Important

Many times, you encounter different situations in gameplay that would benefit from different builds. As a mesmer main, one of my best examples of this is a general combat build, vs. a “jumping puzzle” build where I reduce fall damage and increase glamour skill time for portals, and a focused boss DPS build, all of which use different setups. Another example would be revenants who want to switch between DPS and support based builds.

Currently, to do so, you have to stop, then dig through every specialization and trait line and set it manually, and have some recording of what your previous build was if you haven’t already memorized it from the number of times you’ve had to switch back and forth. Especially if you also need to swap out gear, this can take several minutes.

Implementing this would make life a lot easier for players, and would be greatly appreciated. While I’m not expecting this “pronto,” it’s been requested long enough and frequently enough (some of the first posts in the quality of life suggestions thread include this) that it ought to have been on the dev’s radar for a while now.

Please add build saving/loading to the game, and you will have a lot of grateful players.

Non-Racial Home Instances

These instances would essentially be alternatives to the home instances found in the racial cities. They could have all kinds of different themes and perks. They would have predefined node locations like the current home instances, but could be more compact and would not be related to the racial stories.

Home Instance Theme Suggestions

  • Twisted Castle
  • Mad King Thorn
  • Tixx and Toxx
  • Queensdale Cottage
  • Snowden Ranch
  • Fractal Ruin

As a player, both for roleplay purposes and just in general, I’d like to feel as though I actually have a “home” to use and go to. Right now, the player doesn’t actually have a home, they just have a chunk of city they can meander around in. Something more compact and less populated with NPCs would be nice.

Each home instance would have their own entrance location in the world, just like current home instances.

Honestly I’m surprised with how much they’ve added to the home instance that they haven’t allowed players more freedom to customize. With so many empty houses, and so many of our allies from the story in the instance, I think it’d be a great idea to allow players to buy (gold) and customize (gems, gold, scribing) their “home” within an instance.

Housing in BDO was hella competitive, and a pretty decent gold/mat sink IMO. The best element though was that items in your home had use – boss trophies gave defensive or offensive buffs. Utensils allowed you to craft in your home. etc.

As opposed to tweaking existing instances, adding them in new zones (especially seeing as our characters will be so far away from “home”) will bypass the racial restriction, and provide a blank slate for greater depth and player interaction.

Yep, that’s exactly what I had in mind! It seems like an almost obvious thing to do. I have a hard time imagining it hasn’t at least been brought up in their dev team in the past. Things like the lounges as “mini city” replacements are right down that alley. You’d think that home instances would be in the same vein.

Dance with Me

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Starfall Leyline.2481

It’s been brought up numerous times. It’s been (probably) beaten to death, resurrected, and then pounded into the ground again more times than most people care to count. It’s been highly requested and regurgitated over and over in a number of different posts. So I suppose I’m starting this one to renew the cycle, but also to ask why?

New Dances!

Whether imported from the original GW1 or new dances entirely, people have been looking for them for ages. How To Dance, Vol 1. is great, but also kind of stale after a while. 3 dance animations that each loop after maybe 5 seconds, and no real meat. It makes you feel like you’re caught in a time loop, not like you’re dancing.

So yes, we (or I) would like more dances, but I’m also curious as to why new dances haven’t been added? New animations are introduced for lots of new abilities and skills, why have dances been left out after so many years? Even opening up the other races’ dance anims of the current Gw2 would feel like a breath of fresh air. Sell that unlock on the gem store, and I can guarantee an influx of purchases.

I realize that new dances, or doing the current ones for the five races would be a thing, but I also don’t think it’d take much to please people. Is it actually a matter of development cost versus projected return on selling an item? Or is it just a bad case of back-burnering or (I have a harder time imagining this) some sort of system limitation?

why do mesmers need to be fancy?

Speaking as a Charr Mesmer (I love my CharrMer – see what I did there?), I actually enjoy being fancy and refined, breaking the “savage mold” of many charr. I wouldn’t say I quite fit the fancy of nobility perse, but I still enjoy looking “spiffy,” and thus dress the part. If they ever introduce whips into the game, I really hope they give the mesmers whip-dancing abilities. Whips lend themselves to be particularly elegant weapons with all the curves and moves you can do with them.

I’d like to echo the previous poster’s desire for more charr faces (especially male faces) – preferably something that doesn’t look like they got their heads smashed in a trash compactor.

HOWEVER

My main request would be… “How to Dance Vol. 2” – with longer dances rather than just a looping 5 second anim. It would be a blast, and very popular.

Pretty please? Cue DanceWars2!

Tail of the Star God Fragment bugged?

I don’t mean to necro-post, but since I found this thread about a year later due to the same issue, I figured I’d post something helpful:

I got my shard in the first 50 or so grawl, BUT, do it on a character that HASN’T been to the area yet. This is why:

If you haven’t completed the area, do the gold heart for killing the grawl there while in crow form. What I did was go into crow form, and just kept farming the grawl. It was far easier and less painful, and even after the heart was completed, I just stayed in crow form farming. I got the shard shortly after completing the heart (I had farmed without doing the gold heart for a while before then).

Speaking as a Mesmer...

LITTLE SPOILER ALERT Some things mentioned are spoilers.

Now, before I say anything, I should state I’m not actually mad. I mean, I’m slightly miffed but not in an overserious way. Kinda tongue-in-cheek.

Continuing on, I love that mesmers are getting a little more story focus in the new “Head of the Snake” Living World chapter. But… seriously.

Not only is everyone a mesmer, they all make me (the player) feel like an incompetent twit when it comes to abilities! Multi-Mind Stab? Portalling at a distance wherever you want? Endless invisibility? Being able to make your illusion fight for you all the way through its health and then you appear elsewhere? PERMANENT CITY SHIELDING?

Now, with story characters, you naturally expect them to be able to do things that the player can’t and you can’t make players too powerful without breaking content, but even the most insignificant of NPCs has a huge leap in what their skills can do compared to ours. I feel downright incompetent! Note that I’m not talking about damage or fighting skills or whatnot (other than the Multi-Mind Stab or the fighting illusion).

I really enjoyed Head of the Snake, even if they did poke fun at the Charr race at the end. But man, I’m not sure I’ve ever played through a story series that made me say, “I am SO jealous” so much. “Everyone’s had more spells than me.”

Wings of Love [Feedback]

There are people who hate the wings, that’s fine. They don’t have to buy them.

I, however, love them, and I was very disappointed that this wasn’t included as a back item. The sad thing is, I don’t really expect Anet to change it. Once it’s done, it’s done. That’s kind of their way. If you had made this a backpack item, you could have gotten even more money out of me.

If you do change it? Well, I’ll be pleased.
