Farewell GW2

Sorry guys, but any customer-centered business must care about what causes customers to quit buying (or playing) their product. Anet does care when a player posts that he/she is quitting because each player that posts represents roughly TEN THOUSAND players that do not take the time and effort required to post.

You may poke fun at him/her, ask for his/her stuff (thinking its funny), but in the end every player that quits hurts the game and the company’s bottom-line. I know because business retention is my line of work (and I’m good at it).

Finding NEW customers is a thousand times harder than retaining present customers. Any business that “beats” people for leaving will see an ever increasing exodus.

Social media (like forums) are becoming increasingly important. Comments that ridicule players for leaving only exacerbate the problem and hurt the company. If I worked at Anet, you can be sure I would be watching the forum for negative comments made by employees (I do it every day for a much larger corporation). Believe me, they never do it again.

Comments like “Can I have your stuff?” should be deleted, and candid discussion should be had both on and off line.

Where I work, we keep track of every type of posting. We record positive and negative feedback. We tabulate the results and are therefore able to estimate monthly customer satisfaction levels, population movements, and future trends. We never punish customers that complain, but listen to them. While we can’t retain every customer, our retention rate is constantly improving, and that’s why we’re making money, hiring more people, and giving salary increases.

Of course, this post opens me up for an onslaught of criticism and “Quit if you don’t like the game” kinds of postings. It’s juvenile, but probably inevitable. So, as a fellow GW2 player, I’d like to say,

“Thank you Yoh, for caring about the game and having the integrity and desire to help point Anet in the direction you think will improve the game. We do want you to stay and hope to run into you somewhere in Tyria some day soon.”

Sincerely,
Stevizard

I wake up with my hands aching. Yes, I definitely need to play less. I’m not sure that I can find a bigger mouse or keyboard (my are pretty big). I’m not knowledgeable about Xbox or their controllers or how I would connect one to my PC. Maybe I could ask someone at Bestbuy. But thanks for replying.

Lordkrall, it looks like you’re out-numbered. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but that doesn’t make everyone’s opinion right.

I quit GW2 for well over a year. I came back recently and found it the same as I left it. In other words, I can add new mud flaps to my car, and hang a pine tree air freshener from the rear-view mirror but its still the same car. Nobody is going to offer more money for it due to my “improvements.”

I’ve always thought that GW1 was better than GW2. I like the graphics and the game play better. GW2 looks “cartoony” to me, while GW1 seemed more realistic. In GW2, I build a character to level 80 and then abandon it and start another. Sorry, I’m not cool, I’m not anywhere near the best player … I’m probably very average when it comes to skill but I don’t mind since I’m only playing for FUN, and when it is no longer fun, then I just don’t play.

Like most players, I play solo. I don’t want to join a group. I don’t want to be told that I need more players in my group in order to complete anything, including dungeons. This means that some parts of GW2 are not win-able or playable for me (remember I’m very average). I get killed immediately and just can’t play them. So, I don’t do dungeons and I don’t join festivals and I don’t look for friends online in the game.

Since coming back to GW2, I’ve built a Mesmer, and two Necros (one human, one Norn). I think the Mesmer is the most fun to play, but I’ve mostly abandoned it. New skins and dyes are nice but they won’t keep me playing. So, a new festival is coming out? That’s nice. What’s on TV tonight?

Hi all,

Playing GW2 has caused my hands to become extremely sore. Is there a handheld controller that can be used instead of using a keyboard/mouse combo?

Thanks,
Steve

Hey people, I just remembered what this topic is about, and I really went off topic. Please ask the moderator to delete my last two posts.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to mess this topic up,

Just one more thing . . . so far I’ve been a member of two maybe three guilds. Once I join, I’m completely overlooked and forgotten. I’ve only been invited to participate in 1 guild adventure (a dungeon). It was fun, but its the only dungeon I’ve every been in even though I played GW1 for several years and I now have two level 80 characters in GW2. Mostly I play with one other person, rarely more. This social stuff just doesn’t seem to work in GW2. At least in GW1 I could go to the Jade Quarry and play on a team. In GW2, I’m mostly lost.
