high density zones?

before i went afk for 2 years i was farming some temple events in malchor, now orr is dead and so is malchor, the new maps to me drop almost no loot from mobs(300% magic find). are there any places left with high density of npcs that drop stuff? i dont want to speed run cof and fractals for some form of loot. gosh it would be great to be able to sell the massive amounts of account bound accsended gear.

Anet has a sick tendency to nerf builds in both PVE AND PVP. so while the jaguar gets a pretty nice f2 buff in PVP, if you made it only work 1 time it will destroy a pet in PvE and make it useless(that’s the only reason why i take the jaguar over any other pet, it has 6 seconds of burst-ish dps). also as of right now the ranger is not that great of a PvE class, it’s fun dont get me wrong, but why is it that in every LFG you never ever ever see a “LFM Rangers”? but instead see LF1M warrior, lf1M mesm, lf1m guard. Reason is because it’s a pretty crappy class outside of 1v1 PvP.

My suggestion:

In PvP: decrease the toughness of the jaguar and other feline pets, keep the damage the same. give the pet 1second invulnerability on ranger’s rolling. Do NOT touch it in PvE at all(although the 1second invuln on dodge would be nice in PvE)

We all agree rangers are op (except rangers ofc), the same story starts all over again just like eles, bring the nerf bat.
Which class will come after rangers are nerfed? I bet for mesmers but im not quite sure yet :P

i still say the elementalist needs a nerf. the mobility and damage it puts out are too high. the elementalist can dictate when and where to fight, no other class can do that.

and now just because a ranger invests over 60points in pure tank you want to nerf the health/dps of the pet, and make it even more useless as it is now in everything but tanking in pvp? fine, but reduce the health on the ele by 6,000 health in pvp and pve.
nerfing a ranger that puts 30points into BM will make the pet completely useless for those who have 0points in it. why dont you try playing the class that has it’s DPS slashed because of an npc that follows it around? i guess rangers are only allowed to have 1 viable build in PVP and PVE instead of 2?

so you nerf the pet and leave the ranger with less damage than any other class?

we have good survivability, but our long range shots can be EASILY evaded using the a/d keys. the cripples also dont last so long and again are easily avoidable. we DO NOT have any burst what so ever in any ranged weapon either. in GW2 long range=lose unless it’s in a very specific situation.

ele has half of ranger mobility AT THE MOST… if mobility is same as tanking for you, then thief must be best tank in the game…

The thief has stealth, not mobility.
the reason why ele is the better tank is the fact it can Disengage. thats what makes it better. the thief is glass, the ele has the ability to drop 8stacks of high damage bleed on you, then RTL away swap to another element and come back. but hey NERF RANGARS! Mai ele is not OP anymoar QQ

When will Anet finally stop forcing level 80 players to play on maps that give hardly any reward? while the southsun cove events were fun, but they butchered the drop rates and made the map pointless.

Then we had the christmas event….ok nothing to really complain about, was just a cool little event

Now for the past 3 months we’ve been forced to play on level 1-15 maps to experience new content and any farms have been nerfed. any type of farming content beyond COF has been nerfed. We now have reduced NPC counts, a very easy to trigger Drop rate reduction, and how many months into the game we have no new level 80 content?

While i believe a steady stream of new players is needed for any game to survive, it’s getting pathetic that at level 80 there is nothing to do, since if you want to farm an event you are punished, if you want to farm npcs you’re punished, and the only true farm or anything is COF where you deal with hardcore elitists.

So yea General discussion, can we have new endgame content? as of right now Guildwars 2 has lost basically all fun to it. it gets really old really fast when the devs constantly do everything possible to kill farming.

This is actually not correct, the warrior’s dps is higher, considering Hundred blades will do 10k+ not including criticals(28k+ with massive crit build).

the rangers Greatsword dps compared to the warrior/guardian will likely be ~1/2 of that DPS. especially since out “burst” damage on the Greatsword is a mix of Power/conditions. that means we cannot stack into the damage as much as the warrior can(they can use pow/crit/prec while we need to mix power condition damge, duration and prec/crit damage)

2. what exactly are you guys doing to balance unused builds/weak weapons such as the spirit ranger/greatsword, axe/axe necromancers, and warriors in general?
3. are there any plans to add some type of reward for pvp? while we get different skins in spvp, my friends have never wanted to do spvp because they never got anything they could use from it(such as gold/currency/skins outside of hotm)

i prefer magi for the precision, i pull off 1600damage on my sword consistently, with enough evades and hp to keep myself alive.

and as for 30/30/x/x/x builds, completely ignoring the pet also reduces damage done. i dont see a non bm jaguar pushing 6kcrits+2kauto attacks. especially with QZ, considering i can stack6+stacks of might on it easily

using 15/25/0/0/30 i can get 20%damage just for flanking and having full endurance, that’s also not counting food/nurishmentsigils. at that rate i can push +40%damage with5x-8x crit damage dependant on what i use for my earrings and such

i actually ran 20/20/0/0/30 for the pet crit damage +healing.
but now i figured 15/25/0/0/30 is better since i get +20%damage if i flank(not hard using #3 from sword) and +30%crit for my pet

the burst on a longbow is actually, pretty poor. i’m sorry but that’s a fact. 13k rapidfire every 10seconds? for that you might as well use a shortbow for the sustained damage+bleeds

Oh here comes an other one who thinks that doing most damage in a group is the only way to support it.

i’m not saying that, but for a ranger to use a bear+longbow in any trait distribution you will not be better for any team. the dps is poor and if you trait for any survivability the dps is horrendous. just using healing spring will help the group, but you also need to bring some damage to even make it worth the time.

sword ranger with 30bm and a jaguar pet will give you the most dps, and with a total of 4 evades/dodges, you’;ll survive pretty kitten well.
I still cannot believe how people still use a longbow only with bear pets running 30/30/x/x/x. and yet they still claim to have great dps, it’s just shocking.

just a pr0 tip to rangers, zerker+longbow will not give the best dps, especially with a bear for a pet.

please please please! try using magi armor with anything but bears, and also use a sword or shortbow. the rest of the game will like you, and perhaps you can be constructive in your group!

what about jaguar skills? i pull 6k crits off with it(and you can make that an auto crit)
beyond the riverdrake and the lightning, i have never seen larger crits than 6k from any pet skill. the next closest is the canine pets

I’m more than aware of how squishy pets can be in dungeons, but if you could list out all the issues you are speaking of, I can try and address them.

For me with 1100hours on my ranger here are my issues with pets and dungeons

1.) FOTM- as said before agony is a pita. in the svanir instance my pet will always die when the shaman tosses down the red circles(even f3 wont work because the pet generally doesn’t return directly on top of you, instead it seems to go off within a certain radius of you, and stops in a random place)
2.)FOTM- again, grawl aoe damage and agony
3.)FOTM-at higher levels the damage thrown out by bosses without agony becomes insane, and your pet insta dies, leaving you(or us/rangers)with missing dps(i dont know the exact % it makes up of our dps, but to be balanced obviously the pet takes up some dps)
So to me, fotm is kind of tough, below lv20 i have no problems, above 26 i run into issues with the pet, even ranged pets dont work because the bosses will swap targets often, and often target my pet.

4.) COF P1-I ask you Robert to go to gw2lfg.com and go to citadel of flame(explorable) and tell me what most groups are asking for. lf4m zerker warriors is going to be the most common. In COF P1 generally the meta is to have a mesmer drop timewarp and warriors to use 100b, they kill the slave driver before tw ends. To me the issue is that the pet with 5people inside the effect, will not receive quickness. Being that pets are also an extension of us, they should be able to get that effect(even if we need 15 into natures magic i still have yet to see it proc on the pet). Also, considering our pet doesn’t get anything from our runes, perhaps give the pet a buff just for being in a dungeon instance?

In PVE i now main a warrior(since it’s kitten near impossible to get a good cof group as a ranger)

WvW ranger tbh sucks(nothing good going for it, the 14khp fail glass cannon is bad, and we cant use our guard anymore to hit people as we defend), so now i use my necro for that.

and yes the ranger in spvp is pretty good. i do enjoy it there, but soon they’ll probably nerf the sword because i do too much damage, or they’ll nerf the pet. typical bullkitten.

And even in PvE it’s hard to get dungeon groups because we bring less than what other classes can bring(IE warriors being better condition/damage, necro’s doing more condition damage, mesmers adding more to group utilities, guardians being the best tanks)

not really, you would do kitten poor damage and lose utility slots to stop the conditions. food cannot be used in spvp, and in wvw most people running conditionbuilds use +40+condition duration consumables

Guard: Pets will no longer guard areas that should be inaccessible to them.
Crippling Talon: Cooldown of this ability has been reduced from 18 seconds to 15 seconds.
Empathic Bond: Fixed a bug that wouldn’t apply transferred conditions to pets. This trait now transfers three conditions to the ranger’s pet every 10 seconds rather than all of them.
Hawk and Eagle now have their own unique icons instead of sharing one.
Path of Scars: This ability’s damage has been normalized between traited and non-traited versions. Damage has been increased by 85% when not traited.
Icy Screech: The White Moa activated ability now applies 3 seconds of Chill, and the skill fact has been updated appropriately.

so…rangers are even worse now in wvw.
you nerfed our grandmaster trait(one of the few worth getting)
Whopdee kittening doo, our eagles and hawks now have different icons
and we get 85% more damage on a useless weapon to begin with in the off hand. great.

a way to control our pets would be nice, but it wouldnt solve that many problems.in the end guildwars 2 is not really toughness dependent so to say, everything revolves around pure dps. the ranger and d/d ele are excellent dodgers and have good mobility(great survival) but where will that aid anyone or any team? at high level fotm berserker gear is optimal, cof-berserker warriors. cursed shores the mobs are too easy to kill, and Anet reduced the mob density.

So while we can get more stuns and better pet controls, it would make us better at pvp, but not at pve, considering in order to get optimal dps we need to focus on marksman,skirmishing and beast mastery. with bm build our dps will be highest i believe with a mix of MAGI/Zerker 15/25/0/0/30, and at that point in a dungeon say a mes drops TW, your pet will not get it because players get it before pets, and tw has a player limit of 5. even then, in cof with 3war+me in the tw, i have yet to see my pet get quickness from it.

even a spirit buff, sun spirit needs to get 2x damage at least to be decent in a group(and it needs to effect pets no matter what, pets should not count as people) i think full condition build it does 2400damage burning? it should do 5k a person over the course of 2-3seconds. stone spirit needs to give stability, frost spirit needs to increase damage by at least 15-25% and have it last 6seconds with a 4 second cooldown, the storm spirit should give swiftness and give allies fury.

why is it the warrior can give perma fury and stacks of might with their utilities yet our support utilities are waay underpar(yes spirits specifically)

and yes, cof is turning into a kitten all, only 4zerker war/mes allowed. but anywhere else it seems people willd drop a ranger for a warrior or a mes, just because they will bring more to the table than a ranger.

Sadly, i’ll probably get rid of my ranger too, or not play it. out of 1300 hours i’ve spent 1100 on my ranger, i’ll probably use my warrior in place.

1.) trap builds suck in pve, why? necro’s do better at conditions, warriors get 160+damage/stack on bleed(check out the war forums, 20stacks of bleed instantly, and warriors easily get 10+might by themselves)

Now, other issues, beyond RaO, horn #5, and the lynx f2, how do we give ourselves might? oh yea, we dont.

And the thing is, yes in pvp the ranger is a kitten powerful class when someone is GOOD with it. if they just started they will suck, but if you take the time to understand the ups-downs you’ll kitten face. But in PvE, the ranger honestly sucks. There’s a reason why I get kicked from COF groups on my ranger. reason is even with a pet we cannot outburst 100B, outbleed Condition warriors, or support better than guardians.
Necro’s can transfer conditions and cleanse group conditions while turning them into boons.

I’m not saying OOOHHH NOO we’re DOOMED!!! but at the same time, really? we have 2 builds viable in pvp, a bm bunker or the trap build. in PVE our lb sucks, sword’s damage is meh(1100-1800 damage)and in my eyes, the best dps anyone can really get is with Magi/zerker with 30bm(sword+horn) with dual felines.

sadly, i’m starting to agree with Arekai. in PVE rangers are pretty good if you can trait and use them correctly, but warriors do everything we do better, so do guardians.

Humble request for constructive critique

ok for me i use 15/25/0/10/30 with Magi armor(dungeon) and berserker accessories. this gives me ~70% crit chance, and ~70%crit damage with frenzy, with ~21k health at level 80. I use Sword/wh and the shortbow. With 2x feline pets(they have the least survivability, but they will have very good survivability if you pay attention to them and fight along side them since A.) your sword gives them might and B.) they will get 5500+health from healing spring, 200hp/s from regeneration and then potentially another 400hp/s from regen traits/utilities not counting health on crits)

Utilities on my build: For me i use QZ+sick em for massive pet damage(even with wolves you get nice damage, and waaaaay more tank than the felines, bears idk because i find their damage to be lulsy) and the third utility is either Signet of the hunt or Signet of the wild(for extra speed/pet damage, or for the ~100+hp/s regen on me and my pet)

the problem with your build in my eyes is the bear, terrible dps and the axe/wh.

now with your build. you have 30 wilderness in both, and in the first you used QZ SS and a signet, you should have gone traps(they would give your more damage).

on your second link, in my eyes again the problems are your pets #1(moa and bears are both terrible for dps) and axe(poor dps, go sword or probably better the fail LB)

  1. traits, you put in rabid or knights armor, but ignore your prec/crit damage tree and instead put 30 into power and 30 into condition damage/toughness but no precision.
    drop 10 from each tree and put it into skirm for 20/30/20, trap build for pve.

And for WVW side of all of this, i truly dont know because i use my necro. Rangers I feel are pretty useless in zergs simply due to
1.) pets will die everytime in a zerg due to aoe.
2.) with any type of damage with either a LB or a shortbow(lb again beyond barrage sucks) you will need a 20-30/30/x/x/x build which places you with very very very low survivability.
3.) traps in wvw will be poor due to the range you need to be at to throw them and make them hit)

Sic em will be better if you use wolves or jaguars, for 10seconds your pets will do 40% damage, which dependent on traits can mean an extra 800damage an attack for 10 seconds

using the river drake i can kill it in about 3seconds using QZ+the Signet of the wild. about a 2seconds channel time, and it bounces from controller to enemy and back(if lucky, sometimes the mob will move away and they lightning wont bounce). if it gets the bounce off and hits the controller again, it will take ti down ~85-90% of its health. normally most of the time i spend killing it is me actually running up to it.

Allow time warp to be given to ranger pets indefinitely, if they are an extension of ourselves, why must we be be punished if we have a full party?

defenseless? plz having 4/5 evades is hardly being defenseless, never said i want condition dmg 2 be nerfed, all i said i want traps 2 have viewable circle like the rest of aoe in the game, as i said being punished for stepping on invisible circle isnt fair

i’m sorry but 5 evades is good, but not op. 4/5 evades while using sword/dagger which then leaves us….with spamming #1. also, it’s a trap, OH WAIT!!!!! lets make the thief’s traps also viewable, but how will it be a trap if you can avoid it? it’s a trap not a channeled AOE that does oh mer gurd awesome damage.

And i hate to say it, but l2p. maybe try some dodging, spike trap will miss you and not give you a 1sec immobilize, and no other traps will get too many pulses off on you. i never have problems with another trap ranger with my trap ranger because I roll and prepare for the conditions.

and my previous post was not to be perceived in an “i so pr0” type of voice. but perhaps try to play the trap ranger? after playing my ranger i built a condition necro and i guess know what my own weaknesses are so to say? as a necro you can corrupt RAO then use DS 3 (fear) and reaper mark(more fear) while dropping bleeding,area weakness and chill just off of the staff. dont forget scepter dagger, or scepter focus. the only class i do not have problems with at all are warriors, because we all know they only use HBBullrush.

in WvW a trap build is useless, sorry to say that’s the problem. you’ll do far better with a longbow and zerker with 30/30/5/0/5

now to the OP: you cannot get close “caz of traps”? you kidding? you must take NO condition removal or stun breaks. on my trap ranger necro’s will eat me considering they can transfer conditions at least 2x while stacking more. ele’s have massive mobility and with a small amount of common sense don’t stick around in traps too long, or long enough for them to do tons of damage. entangle is just lols, learn to dodge(entangle is great if it lands, but easy to dodge and easy to get out of). thieves to me are the biggest problem, but for some reason they like to jump to me and steal(which puts them in my spike and flame trap…=melt)

does anyone use this? out of my 900 hours on my ranger, i have yet to see another ranger use it. also what use is 1 second of might,it seems to disappear long before my pet can use it. even if it was 2 seconds, is anet by chance thinking of giving that a reason to be used? like say buffing it to 4seconds?

also another thing, Fortifying bond. Allow that to also transfer quickness. if i get stuck with an unremovable pet(which yes i do love my jaguars/canines) why must my damage take a reduction due to profession mechanics AND the fact that in a party of 5 people with a mesmer, only 5 PEOPLE get the effects of timewarp? if my pet is an extension of me, why can it not get quickness if 5 people are in the TW bubble too? with 30bm it is basically 60%+ of my dps. warriors get +100% the dps in tw, but as a bm ranger i might get maybe +50% due to my pet not receiving it.

A friend of mine has purchased Guild wars 2 but lost the small paper that the customer ID came on. now he cannot remember his password and cannot log into the forums, and if he now looses his computer/it dies he will lose the account without his serial code. question is how can he get his serial code? Also, if he buys the digital deluxe upgrade, will he get an id key?
