1.)my pets stay alive the entire dungeon. even the jaguars. pet swapping+signet of the hunt and general npc awareness means no down time. also, my pet is not all burst, it also has sustained.

2.) unless it’s fotm, any dungeon i go into my pet stays alive the entire time also, in fotm my pets will die, but right after i will swap and generally that pet will stay alive long enough to where if it dies not long after it is swapped out.

3.) warriors do get their shouts such as FGJ and such, the best i have gotten from 4 warriors is 18 stacks of might. with 1 guardian i can get i believe 15stacks. with Call of the wild i give the party 15+seconds of fury which for quick P1 cof runs is just under the time needed for the first boss(slave driver for me on a quick group is ~30seconds)

people under estimate ranger damage. In COF I deal 1300damage with the sword per swing on a crit…not much right? on auto attack my jag pulls 2400 easily without sic em or popping any signets. using 30bm and 10crit i am fairly certain a ranger can get just as much dps as a glass cannon warrior. with sic em and QZ over 4 seconds i see 6 to 7 3-4kcrits from the jaguar along with about 10 or so attacks from me each doing 1300. at the same time using the 2sec Quickness from pet swap i get another 2400+from the lynx and 2600 from me(reason being is the lag from the pet after activation). so over 6 seconds I am generally doing 20k to 24k through the pet with another 10-16k from me. And if we have a mesmer drop time warp…well jaguar+f2 + signet of the hunt=just the same as sic+QZ.

so the exotic glowish shortbow, other than the blue glow does it have anything else? like do the projectiles look cool at all? seems kinda stupid a weapon that requires over 300+gold to make might only have some glow and nothing else

simply, what is so good about the torch? i have yet to see any person take the full damage of bonfire(unless i entangled them). The Range/Area of effect is really really poor, it’s not even ground targeted.

that being said people have said to use sword 2 while jumping in for a combo, but that doesn’t seem to do nay damage at all?

at least #4 is alright but not enough imho to be anywhere close to as effective as #4/5 on the dagger due to the cripple poison and evade.

so what is so great about the torch? what am i missing?

you then ran across dumb opponents. i would kill you if you used any ranged pet. they would never hit the projectiles are way to slow. 2kcrit on ranged pets also means you spent some points in skirmishing. your survivability is low and im 99%sure your opponent again is an idiot

swap to the other pet. If someone is focusing on the pets even swapping wont do a kitten thing for you.

if you REAALLLLYYY need a range on them, 5k range sounds pretty good. they are pretty low damage and rarely have a good tank on them unless they are devourer. and at that point if one kills you i will have to laugh at you because their attacks are already easy to avoid. same as well, all pets due to how they run straight paths and stop once they get at the edge of their attack range. all you need to do is run in a wide circle and the pet wont hit you, even with sic em(unless you are chilled)

Pets: Ranged pets suffer form the LB effect, melee to me dont seem to do enough damage for the time they spend alive

30points in BM gives +300base stats, increase that to 510 or +17 a trait point invested

Devourers: +30% projectile speed

Canines:(basic attack causes 1s of bleeding on critical)

Leopards: +10% movement speed while in combat
+5%power

Birds: +15%power

All pets get the same agony resistance as the ranger

while my two posts were pretty good buffs to the ranger, i was wondering though also; anyone happen to think they are TOO much?

Alright, i have to say the dec 14th update was great but other things need to happen to make more builds viable for dungeons and pvp.

Utility(spirits)
1.) As of right now in order for spirits to move with a ranger we need to spend 30 trait points. considering that the tree is basically built around regeneration/removing conditions/spirits how about removing fortifying bond and instead replacing that with spirits unbound(15trait points needed). while removing Fortifying bond from the tree, have it happen automatically.

To compensate for a lost skill, a new grandmaster trait must be made!

XI: Gain +35 health per second regeneration for every spirit active(so at most +140 a second, not effected by healing power)
allies(including yourself) gain +25health each time the spirit activates its buff on them (internal cooldown of 3seconds on the frost spirit, see below)(this is effected by healing power 25(base at 80) +1/12 healing power)

2.) to me the only good spirit is the sun, reason being is for me it does 1500damage every 10 seconds, which does suck but at the same time if i have a pet and a party of 5, it seems the spirit will be able to proc(or whatever it is) for all party members and their pets. which makes it quite good

so with that being said though for every spirit their activation range sucks, even with 2x health in order for them to get into the range needed to use their activation you need to get lucky and get them almost right on top of the enemy. for me, that never happens

all spirits
at least +50%activation range
2x health to start with an extra 50%able to be added on if traited(so 3x what the normal health is now)

Frost spirit
Buff: no internal cooldown. every attack has the chance to do +10% damage
Nerf: chance for it to happen gets nerfed to 10%(or 15%) and cannot be buffed by any trait

Stone Spirit
Buff: internal cooldown reduced by 2seconds
when the buff activates, person who activated it or gets the protection buff also gets 3s of retaliation

storm spirit
Buff: all allies/pets that proc the swiftness will get vigor for 4 seconds

all spirits get the same agony resistance as the ranger

ok so 2 weeks, and my 2nd time getting disconnected. where the hell is the fix? actively trying to fix the bug? i call bullkitten. if it’s that hard hire more staff that CAN work on the problems that exist.

hey i’ve been wondering about the gift of light and if it is account bound or not? i’ve been wanting to craft a gift of light but figured it would be a waste on my lv 80 ranger. once made are they account bound? if so i’ll craft my lv 16necro up to 400 armosmithing and use that character for my legendary/cool exotic crafting

So me and a couple friends were wondering if it would be a smart idea to buy mint leafs now considering wintersday is coming up? me and a couple friends are not wealthy at all and would like to try and save a little money if the price is to increase. i know anet has a tendency to have these cool crafting materials used in their events that are generally used in the actual holidays. so yea any ideas?

yea, i would like to learn to beat it, problem is also finding a group of people who’ve done it before so that we all pull our own weight so to say. right now not beating it i feel im not contributing at all

yea the #3 on pets is bugged to hell, same as the search and rescue, but beyond lightning+protect me i cant think of any utility that will do much, maybe just keep sharpening stone or signet of hunt?(do you really even get a 10%speed increase? i never saw the difference)

yes i’m wrong, thought it was 34 vitality nevermind, but i’m going to get a full set of that and start transmutating it onto other armors :P.
as for utilities my utilities will more than likely look like lightning reflex, protect me and i might run a stone spirit for protection or search and rescue as last effort to revive downed allies. my elite probably will be rampage as one(for the swiftness) or nature spirit

i’m running a ranger with 20marksman 20wilderness 30nature with power condition damage precision(working on getting precision to vitality) i also run the +10 -10% damage/damage taken along with a condition damage consumable(i guess from now on for phase 2 i’ll run the endurance buff consumable) my runes are +condition damagecondition duration

yea not going to lie, it’s become a real problem even getting groups to run Arah explorable mode due to the toughness of giganticus lupicus for new groups. i must have spent a total of 5hours yestarday trying to beat giganticus, with about 3 different groups.
1.)i’m tired of hearing people say “oh just get better” when i ask for help.
2.) i’ve checked the wiki and try to do what it says, but for the most part we never got past phase 2, only once did i get into phase 3 with the last group, and we got him to like 20% health before we all dropped.

so simply, Anyone got hints on how to beat him? for me personally the shadow walk isnt tough it’s the 12k projectiles he flings out at random, and also some minor problems with getting enough endurance to consistently dodge his shadow walk +the red circles of doooom. phase 3 i was doing ok with, but i guess it all just fell apart >.<

is there any way to drag him to a way point to just go at him naked until he dies? at least then i know i’ll be able to complete the dungeon

i run 30/30/0/5/5 full exotic berserker ranger runes.
also stack on the 100precision 10%critical damage. i know this sounds very very brief but beyond that i dont know, i hope you have trait 10 in marksmanship, that might also bring you up more. normally those 4kshots are without vulnerability too.

My current build is 30/10/30/0/0
i use An exotic Rampager set with Axe/dagger and shortbow
what could i do to improve on this? running conditions should i drop the 10 in skirmishing for an extra 100points or whatever in vitality?

also, since my armor gives +power,precision,condition damage..will running carrion be better due to a little extra survivability?(Vitality condition damage toughness)(the dungeons i want to run are Arah and CoF)

1. Long Range Shot. Fire three arrows in rapid succession, each traveling farther and doing more damage than the previous one. If your foe is not within range for the first shot, the successive shots will not be fired.

instead of the whole increasing range, why not just give that skill +200range (so either 1400, or 1700) and giving it a constant damage rate of say 800damage per shot without any added power? While keeping the increased speed of each arrow fired

Longbow:
1. Sniper Shot. Fire an arrow from the shadows that make your foe vulnerable. The arrow does additional damage if you hit from the side or from behind.

Vulnurability (10s): 10% Incoming Damage.
Side Damage: x + 50%
Back Damage: x + 100%

(Note: x should be roughly twice the normal Longbow damage. Side damage would thus equal 3x damage [e.g. 100 * 2 * 1.5 = 300], and back damage about 4x damage [100 * 2 * 2 = 400])

Range: 1200 (1500 with trait)

just over powered. i already hit 3k-4k or so on a critical at long range(99%damage) get rid of the vulnerability, and have side damage do 2x and back 3x i would think for someone set up in a glass cannon/marksman/skirmish trait line a 9k shot would be powerful but not over powerful. just imagine, anything with less than 16k health getting 1 shot killed at 3000range, maybe more depending on the trajectory of the arrow.
