Not to mention that the 1 or 2 mobs that come out of the doors seem to have a 10% chance to drop anything decent. I’ve hit 10 doors so far and gotten 1 trick or treat bag. So far I’m chalking this event up as a complete and total failure on Arena Nets part. It sucks too, it had so much potential.
It just annoys me as I now have ZERO motivation do participate in this event since there is nothing to be gained from it. Way to be lazy and only put out a few items there Arena Net.
If it makes you feel better the prices are dropping rapidly on the trading post and will likely continue to do so as the event goes on. The shield is only 20g, which can be made in a day or two of hard work. The only overly expensive one at this time is the Greatsaw, which will likely drop down to 30g-ish in time.
Good thing I already sold my shield for 25g, lol.
I got the shield off of 5 keys.
ok. Now i hate YOU. lol
That’s literally the only thing I want and a good financial sense is ruining my chances to get it. lol
/grin
I got the shield off of 5 keys.
Why is it that there are only skins for a few different weapons and not for all the weapons? It is annoying seeing people run around with awesome looking Halloween weapons yet my dual axe/bow Warrior gets nothing. Sure I could get the rifle skin or the great sword skin, but I don’t use either of those so it’s completely pointless. Will more skins be released for the rest of the event or is this it?
lol I blew 450 gems and got the shield.
Bugged on Darkhaven as well.
@Pepperburg, the only time we have a queue is starting around 8pm EST. When we all get on and have to work to retake everything from encamped forces that were day capping us. We honestly don’t have queues before around that time.
It would be cool if ANet could implement scoring based on the population of foes in a map. Like reducing the point gains to 1/5 when under 20% of the opposing population is in a map, etc. Doing that at 20% intervals could be interesting.
They could also open up WvW maps one at a time. For example:
1. open up EB, when a certain % of it is filled (say 80%?) by all 3 servers then
2. open up red borderlands (since they are the lowest ranked) and when that reaches threshold
3. open up blue borderlands and then
4. open up green borderlandsAnd if at any point a certain borderlands were to fall below a certain population by a team, it would give an hour to increase the population back to minimum or the borderlands would be closed and/or reduced in capacity.
If anyone remembers Alliance Battles in GW1, this could be kinda like that…just bigger rather than a buncha small population maps that aren’t necessarily filled.
There are potential problems/exploits by purposefully leaving WvW when the opposition is winning but I figure that there is enough PUG interest in WvW that those who planned on leaving WvW to get an edge would end up getting hurt since they’d be leaving WvW in PUG hands. Also, as one of the two options of ‘PvP’ that we have I don’t think there would be that many PvPers wanting to NOT play just to get a few points. I’m sure other precautions could also be implemented to prevent problems.
But anything like that is probably too complicated and would cause more server stress than ANet can handle so getting a well-rounded worldwide population is probably the only way to combat servers with decent-good global populations going forward.
Okay so if they did that then you guys would have the 20% reduction as well while you are completely out manning DH during the day. It isn’t our fault that we play at night due to the fact that we have jobs or school during the day. You people need to realize you are just as guilty of “night capping” during the day when you are up against an empty server.
Rangers aren’t tough at all. I can down them very quickly with my warrior.
I honestly don’t understand the night capping problem. I could cry about each and every single thing as well from the day cappers. Those of us who play at night (the evil night cappers) play at night because we have jobs or school during the day. Why should we be penalized for not being able to play while we are doing those things when the other servers are on capping stuff?
I for one am completely glad that Arena Net is refusing to back down and change how WvW is ran in regards to “night capping”. Kudos to you Arena Net!
Oil is free with the keep so you can’t really complain about it too much. However I do think they should buff up the cannons/mortars. Seriously you have to shell out good coin for those and they are fundamentally worthless.
The Quaggins (SP?) didn’t take it down, we made sure to keep them either on our side or dead if they were taken by EB or NSP.
Wasn’t my video, it was an example I found on youtube. The video was posted on the 5th so it wasn’t that long ago.
The orbs stat bonuses aren’t a problem at all. The problem lies with people not defending their orbs. If the orbs gave no real bonuses what would be the point in fighting over them? That would just make all of WvW into Eternal Battlegrounds.
The only problem I see with orbs is the fact that people have found exploits to get into fully upgraded keeps without damaging the walls/gates and they manage to either destroy the alter and take the orb. This shouldn’t be possible and it needs to be fixed.
Once again Darkhaven’s orb gets hacked. Somehow someone made it inside our garrison, through undamaged reinforced walls/gates and shattered the alter. Whoever did it left the orb (as they had no where to put it and didn’t want to get caught with it) and disappeared as soon as they smashed the alter. I made it into the room maybe 30 seconds after it happened and no one was there just the orb on the ground below the smashed alter. This has got to stop. Arena Net needs to find whoever is hacking these orbs and perma-ban them and fix the glitch. I understand that they have many things to worry about fixing with the game but something of this scale shouldn’t be allowed to go on as long as it has.
This video is a prime example of the orb hacks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCSYfJZNYLY

I am rather annoyed that NSP’s orb is glitched so that it can’t be taken, yet they still get credit for having it. It really would be nice if Arena Net would actually do something about that.

While I know that mesmer portals are apparently working as intended when it comes to siege and golems, I still consider it a very cheap (but very expensive) tactic considering that it is a skill with unparalleled power. I don’t think any other skill affords any other class an equal power.
I’m also really disappointed by how much night capping is starting to figure in to WvW. I think it’s almost becoming a much more important tactic than actually playing during the day and having actual fights.
So because Darkhaven is mostly in the EST/CST time zones and we play at night, because we have work during the day, that is somehow wrong? That makes no sense.
I know the people who took the Orb (from NSP) and there was no hacking.
Almost a 100K lead and you have to cry hacks when we get one little, dinky victory.
Stay classy, Darkhaven.
You do realize what you are calling “one little, dinky victory” was made because the orb magically got taken out of a fully reinforced keep with ZERO damage to the walls/gates. Seems kinda fishy that the alter would just magically break for no reason.
We (NSP) took the orb for kitten n giggles but eventually all 7 of us got killed before we made it out of camp with it. From the looks of the map it was never put back into the alter. I imagine that’s part of the reason why DH got it from eBay so easily. I doubt there was any hacking.
The Alter was smashed and for some reason still is smashed. Hence the reason it wasn’t placed back on it.

It is rather annoying that players have to stoop to hacking. Arena Net I really hope you figure out how people are hacking the orbs and fix it.
