Very Disappointed

I really like defending. I don’t really quite get the run around and take stuff and NOT defend what you take. It is fun to have my little guild of 4 beat off a zerg of 20. Or they break it and crush us. I like those fights. Using the siege and beau geste tactics. But I guess I am in the minority.

I run with a very small Guild on SoR (Dark Strength, there are 3 of us, with a 4th coming along). We missed a lot of the mass exodus and I wasn’t really aware of any controversy. But I have a lot of loyalty to SoR.

I like being the underdog. And there are some really great commanders, many at BARD like the above poster mentioned. I’m a huge fan of the defensive acumen of Eko Eko.

I don’t think Dark Strength has much impact on SoR, but we will continue to throw our best efforts into WvW for SoR and I hope others join us. This week was super competitive for along time and then we got spanked. And you know what? That is okay. I’m so happy we took on some good servers and gave a very good accounting of ourselves.

As for the commanders and environment, it has been nothing but positive. I’m still learning to be a good WvW player (I mostly play an Ele, who seems to be super important after stability changes). But I’ve been helped over and over. I love when 5 of us defend a tower succesfully or a smaller number of us smash into a zerg and beat it off. Those are moments I play for!

So, yeah, SoR might have fallen from its lofty position, but I’m really happy being on this team and having a blast. That is my bottom line…

I am a professional illustrator ( a lot of which is fantasy art genre) who’s been freelancing for 20 years. I have a cintiq and used wacom tablets for years before I recently got my cintiq. I have used Photoshop and Corel Painter for years.

However, I recently found a program that I absolutely love. Manga Studio 5. It is cheap (compared to Pshop or Painter). It is the only program where I feel comfortable doing everything digital, as in “pencilling” the illustration. I’m not the biggest fan of photoshop for “pencilling” or blending, although it does tons of other things well. Painter is better, their pencil tools are pretty good.

Note: Most of the time I pencil my work, scan it in and then color it digitally IF i’m not actually working traditionally in arcrylic or oil.

But Manga Studio 5 (around $80.00) pencilling and blending tools are amazing and simple. Combined with the perspective tools that not even the big boys have… I do about 80% of all my work in Manga Studio 5.

If you are curious in seeing what kind of stuff I’ve done, here is my website:

And here is a piece that I did almost completely in Manga Studio 5. Now, I did do some layer adjustment in Photoshop and I always compress my layers and save my artwork via Photoshop, but it was very minimal use of that program.

Increase Dynamic Event rewards to where they exceed farming… it really is that simple

Do you feel powerful?

I went back to some low level areas with my main toon elementalist after quite some time. Trying to get 100% map completion. I was one shotting some foes with my dagger/dagger 3 skill (forgot name, because I don’t use dagger/dagger much).

That makes me feel pretty powerful.

Other times. Not so much.

Although yesterday in WvW, running Scepter/Dagger, I tied up a much bigger force during a siege, was put down, but rezzed up again and prevented our castle from falling. I don’t think I killed a single foe, but 5 of us stymied a much, much larger force of about 20 (not all PCs, some were NPCs). That was fun. Not sure if I felt powerful so much as lucky and somewhat competent.

Pandora. Which “my” radio station is pretty eclectic, from Dido to Elvis Costello to the Mavericks to Ennio Morrecone to Pet Shop Boys to Janelle Monet to Prince to UB40 and beyond.

Fun Orr What?

Okay, I’ve been slowly moving my Ele up to 80, just got there this week. Yup, Orr is a dangerous and frustrating place for an Ele who doesn’t have (can’t afford) 80 level gear, but I soldier on.

Today, I had the luck of stumbling into several events in Cursed Shore. And they were a blast. Just enough people around to keep an ele like me from being steamrolled, but not so many that it was easy by any stretch. While several events were foregone conclusions, they were still nailbiters. I kited, rezzed, healed, blasted, crippled like a madman in each one. Despite the almost guaranteed win, one slip in concentration would put ya down.

A couple of events were NOT foregone conclusions, retaking a waypoint almost ended in disaster, down to just me and a friendly Asuran necro (thank you whoever you are), retreating just enough and taking on several risen at once (he went down, I was down to 100 hps, but we got him back up, we healed, took out the badguys). Then rezzing NPCs as we fought back to the center, we manage to snatch victory from risen jaws and joined by enough rezzed players and NPCs to take back the waypoint.

Now folks are complaining about the end game… but daaaamnn… I loved doing that event!!! Now, I must admit that after doing about 7 events, I decided I was a bit burnt, and switched to my level 20 Warrior to do some easy exploring and fighting. I don’t want to do it all the time, but in a couple of days, I hope to find Cursed Shore as exciting and fun as today was.
