It isn’t 2vs1, SBI just has a 3 to 1 man advantage once all the NA people go to sleep. That is why they always do most their pushing during that time period. BG and JQ were outmanned for several hours in EB during that period.
Don’t let them lie to you saying that they don’t have good coverage, they have the best coverage.
This statement is very true. SBI is an international server with a strong Oceanic presence that is well liked and highly respected by our NA players (even if sometimes they say the oddest things in chat). Any international players looking for a welcoming home are encouraged to join.
This week’s match-up is looking like one that will end on Sunday, with spawn camping for the rest of the week. I cite two main reasons for this:
1.) JQ lost a lot of man-power so we are in the same position we were in with HoD two weeks ago — an unbalanced fight where true 3-ways are rare.
2.) The EU imports to BG are showing NA Tier 1 just how effective Turtling and Portal Bombing are, especially when combined. These tactics are fine tuned to take advantage of limitations in the game’s technology and are a magnitude superior to traditional fighting. It will take a while for the other Tier 1 servers to adapt to this new tactic. Right now if you are not Turtling and Portal Bombing, you are fighting with spears against nuclear warheads. (I don’t blame BG for embracing this amazing tactic.)
TLDR – take this as a casual week and hope we get a match like last weeks sometime soon. Nothing beats a good fight.

Unfortunately, North America did not see a lot of close matches. Most likely this was caused by some mass server transfers, like we saw with HoD over that last 2 weeks. I for one love nothing more than a close match so I’m hoping this corrects soon.
(And yes, the free server transfers are without doubt a major cause of the imbalanced server matching, so no need to turn this thread into another one about that.)
WvW fans, this week we have a very exciting Tier 1 match-up between Jade Quarry, Stormbluff Isle, and Isle of Janthir.
Jade Quarry — Last week saw JQ dominating the T1 bracket, but with that level of domination comes the curse of attracting hordes of players who have discovered the fastest way to win at WvW is to hit the “Transfer Worlds” button. Will this influx of new players help or hinder?
Stormbluff Isles — SBI fought hard through last week’s weekend battle but just could not maintain any progress in the long run. During the week SBI switched to a focused strike strategy, bringing some great weeknight battles (NA time), but no significant gains in the overall score.
Isle of Janthir — IoJ has been charging its way up the ladder and it will be interesting to see what this server brings to the T1 match. The questions is, will IoJ aim for 2nd, putting the squeeze on SBI, or will it go for the gold, leading for one entertaining match-up.
