Yeah, I got to this mission a day or two after the patch that fixed most of the other issues and had to restart it because of this (before I learned that you could break his CC bar though it was pretty tough since my fiancee had died and was in the penalty box thing – please get rid of that).
I enjoyed the final mission but man, that bug was annoying and I hope they fix it soon for my other characters.
The mission itself was actually quite fun, fights weren’t too difficult (most difficult part for me and my fiancee since she died on it most of the time during our attempts was the avoid rocks while gliding part) but weren’t too easy. More fun than many of the fights in LS2/HoT honestly.
But that bug really did sour me a little since I ended up doing all that again (I beat him on my 3rd attempt at that final stage. First attempt. I don’t even know how I died lol. second was the bug where I threw myself off because of it and 3rd I beat him by breaking that bar of his after the bug occured, w00t). – I was worried I was going to DC since I have terrible luck in LS instances that are longer than 20 minutes.

Just finished “Buried Insight”, both this and the last mission, I received the mastery point that you would normally get at the end of the instance, I got near the end but not exactly at the end. Same thing happened on the mission before Buried Insight.
I was also with my fiancee and she got hers at the end of the instance which is what I used to get in earlier missions before the latest patch.
So yeah, seems like the instance creator gets theirs a little earlier instead of at the end (though the reward screen still mentions it, you just get it earlier than the reward screen).
Like I said, minor bug but thought it was worth mentioning.
As you can see, it shows the dev tracker in Spanish rather than english, this happens randomly when I reload the page and usually goes back to normal after another reload or waiting a while and then reloading/coming back to the forum later on.
The final boss was great (not the dungeon one, I mean the one from before that - SPOILERS)

the Eye was constantly on him apart from one point when you have to dodge his focused beam attack.
Ah yes, that mechanic gave you a very good indication of when it would happen. Just wait for “I can see into your soul” and a few seconds later, it would happen so you just need to time your dodge (easy after the first or second time you’ve been hit by it)

So I completed the Personal story and I found the final boss battle great, against the Sovereign Eye of Zhaitan and honestly I found it better than most of the boss battles in the game (including dungeon ones).
Yes his health was a little high but I still had a lot of fun fighting him (and due to his high HP, it helped that I had my gf there helping me attack him. Might be better to reduce his health a little? Since it took 10 – 15 minutes roughly as Elementilists to beat him).
The battle was more or less a test of your dodging/positional/jumping abilities since all 3 worked against his mechanics. You could jump over some of his attacks or dodge them or even just move to the left/right depending on the attack.
And Trahearne was more useful in that fight than he has ever been in the story, attacking, taking some of the heat off me and rezzing whenever one of us got downed (which he and other NPCs usually never do in a fight)
I have some problems with the personal story but not about the final boss fight (which this thread is about and since the ‘proper’ final boss is a dungeon, I consider this the final one of the personal story) outside of what I said about so my feedback is this:
It would be nice in the future to have more boss fights like that. Ones which have mechanics which are avoidable and it’s not just about “How many enemies do we have to fight” or “How much health do these enemies have”.
Its not “only happening for certain cinematics”. This is occurring on and off for just about every personal story mission’s cinematic since the last update. It even occurred during the Citadel of Flame cinematics where Rytlock would speak but Logan would not.
I can confirm this having done CoF Yesterday (A video I am uploading would show it but due to audio lag during encoding, it probably won’t be obvious with all audio lagging behind >_< ) and it’s happening at least once for every personal story mission I’ve done since the last patch.
This story mission is similar to some which were seen in the BWEs meaning there is no speaking or animation as if they were speaking.
Attached is the first bit of the cutscene where nothing comes out. It happens for a few lines then more speaking and then some more lines/animations don’t work again. (I can’t seem to attach more than one screenshot to this topic so I figured the first screenshot with the bug would help)
edit: I have also now witnessed it in the next section of the mission, a line not being spoken outside of the cutscene, where we first enter the temple place underwater and a line is supposed to be said, I heard nothing spoken, just text in the chat box.

I did this mission about 5 minutes ago with no bug or error. Trahearne did not die in mine though.
Which seems to be the main problem with it, and unless you have a party (of 3 – 5) or are somehow able to kill all the risen without Trahearne dying AND without them respawning then you’re screwed.
Regardless this proves it is a bug if the only difference between beating it or not is the death of a vital NPC.

Actually I did it solo and the npcs wiped once while trying to get out of the cave but I was able to revive them all.
How did you get them past the start of the mission? (where you need to head up a hill, and then get told to go up another hill to some asura) Without being stopped due to enemies respawning? Also what profession were you?
From what people have said, when it’s bugged, it always happens because the NPC died BEFORE they got into the cave with the risen grubs.

I am having the same problem, wherever Trahearne dies is where he stays the rest of the mission. Not possible to complete and needs a fix to continue.
Glad someone else posted here, hopefully anyone else who has had the problem will post here as well. Would really like a fix asap because trying to keep Traherne alive without dying is just too tough with those respawning Risen :/

From the above link, it is linked to Trahearne and NOT dying during the mission which is near impossible.
Can someone from Arenanet please confirm a fix for this as this is something that can really stop people from completing it. Especially with the AI tendencies to die, the respawning enemies (stop enemies respawning in personal story missions like this one), etc.

^ see. defo the main problem, along with Traherne not being programmed to pop into the ruins if he is dead when you get there. Please fix this as soon as possible
Has anyone else had this bug before? If you haven’t, did you complete this on your own? I wonder since some bugs seem to be caused by having two people in the same story instance at once.
Okay, it is still happening today and seems to be consistent making it impossible to complete.
They just magically appear outside fighting and dying with RESPAWNING enemies so trying to beat them and take them to the right exit is impossible as well.
Should be fixed asap like with the other storyline bugs. Also I have attached a new screenshot showing them on the outside fighting/dying.
After fighting through STUPID amounts of undead (seriously in a long mission with no repair stuff or anything), we end up here with the people we’re supposed to escort magically teleported out of the cave and we found them dead surrounded by enemies. The way we’re supposed to go out (southern exit which is past even more enemies) is blocked so we can’t even get there to trigger the cutscene.
Reported it in-game and also reporting it here. See the picture for an illustration via the map including white dots showing where we went.
My girlfriend had the same thing happened but it got fixed after a patch the other day, don’t know how so she closed her support ticket.
She gave me permission to post a picture and ticket reference number to help aid in narrowing down the issue. (she also reported it as a bug in-game)
