I named my mesmer “Doodoo Stain” because when I kill people in WvW, they end up getting a doodoo stain
Personally, I love my mesmer more than any profession in the game. I can’t speak for end game (as I’m still leveling the mesmer), but I’ve seen a lot of mesmers in WvW using the greatsword (1 auto attack is a 1200 range laser) and they do some work. I like being up close with my mesmer and dodge cloning, rather than using the greatsword.
If you wanna try it out, make a mesmer, finish that beginning instanced part, click on the PvP button and enter Heart of the Mists. You get scaled to 80 and you can try out the profession any way you see fit.
I’m having a tough time deciding between the two races for my mesmer. Just a few questions:
1) Does size really matter in PvP and WvW as a mesmer? I feel like having a small race for clones would be helpful with confusing people with the clones.
2) Which of these two has better detailed areas? If the Sylvari starter quest (right after you create a character) is like the rest of the Sylvari areas, then I’d choose Sylvari hands down. The Asuran area seems very bland to me. Yes they have robots and floating holograms, but I always like that nature look.
I couldn’t find anything that answered my questions, hence why I created a topic.
So I’ve been leveling up a guardian (currently level 50) and I’m living him, but now I’m stuck choosing between the 3 professions I’ve listed as my next character. I’ve tried out each of them (by finishing up the starter quest and jumping straight into the PvP and testing each skill on a target dummy). So far, based on target dummy, I’m leaning towards the ranger because I can down the target dummy in under 8 seconds. I understand its not the same as playing against real people, but being able to kill a target dummy that quickly seems like a bonus. The Mesmer for me just seems like it’s lacking in that power to kill someone, but I know why people say that the Mesmer is the most annoying profession to be in a fight against. Elementalists seem the most complicated of the 3 due to the stance switching mechanic. If someone could help me break down the professions, (biased opinions are also accepted lol), by explaining how each of these 3 work in a PvP, in solo, and in dungeons/world events, then hopefully I could make my choice then
I’m pretty new to this game, but I leveled a warrior to 14 and felt it was very lackluster in its abilities. Sure, it can do a lot of damage. But the Banners felt useless to help out the group. After reading through a few beginner’s guides, one suggested that if you want to get a feel for a profession, you can do so by finishing the intro story quest and then immediately going to the PvP island. You don’t get all the skills and utilities, but you get to try out and look at them, as well as try out the weapons with 1-5. So instead of wasting hours upon hours playing a class before you realize you don’t like it anymore, you can spend 1 hour tops on testing it before you dedicate yourself to it. I did it that way with the guardian, deleted the warrior, and have been having the time of my life with the Guardian it’s all based on what you like to do.
Appreciate the help I will be sticking with the Greatsword then for leveling
I just recently started playing Guild Wars 2 and I was just wondering what is considered the “best” leveling weapon and why. I’ve heard a lot of people say “go greatsword!” but nothing to back that up. I’m looking for something that won’t be hitting enemies like you’re hitting them with a pillow, but I’m also not looking for something that turns me into a ‘glass cannon.’ If you guys could help me pick on a good weapon and the reasoning why, it’d be greatly appreciated
