My only problem with the idea of a 30-day contract is that I would be likely to forget that I need to finalize my choice before the 30 days is up. I think a permanent contract would be best.
A simple solution to that is to force a pop-up window at the end of your contract for you to confirm your final appearance. Make it so that it cannot be ignored or closed without committing to the change.
or a 30-day count down somewhere in the total makeover app. If i’m not mistaken, that’s what the other game did. It said somewhere in the makeover app “You have __ days left on this pass.” Different words of course. Again I’m trying to remember but don’t know for sure.

So in effect … your offering to give say $20 for the ability to change your character at will for a month … only to have it revert back to normal at the end of the 30 days? Or would you retain the last updated version of your character?
Cause one is you giving away $20 for … free…. versus you giving $20 for the ‘outcome’ (end of 30 day) of an existing total makeover kit.
The ability to change my character at will for a month to retain the last updated version of my character This is what I mean to say and thank you for wording that question that way so I could clarify!
As much as I love this to be implemented in the game I highly doubt it’ll ever happen, since this will in turn devalue the Total Makeover Kit which is coincidentally included in some of their upgrade packages.
Good to know! Thank you
You do have interesting opinions! Thank you It sounds like you are in disagreement with this suggestion. Curious what others have to say as well!
Disagreement? Perhaps, yes. But more failing to see the point. I dont care if such an item is added, but I do care about introducing expensive time limited items in any game because that opens a whole can of worms that I’d rather see remain closed. What’s next? 30 day outfit contracts? 30 day weapons? Perhaps 30 days legendary skins, that’s be neat. Only $20!
So, your perspective is that I’m inviting a gem store item that allows me to have an appearance that lasts 30 days only, and then changes back?
To clarify, this is not what I mean. It does not change back after 30 days. I mean unless it’s trial makeover which is a totally different idea but also possible.

Why would you want a downgrade of the current system with a permanent makeover kit? Time limited things is kitten.
1. There is no permanent total makeover kit.
2. Those permanent kits are more rare and expensive than legendaries..This would be anything but a downgrade.
Permanent is permanent. What is the total makeover kit? Oh that’s right – permanent. It’s consumed in the process, true. It’s still permanent, unless you buy another and change it again. You can preview all the changes in the editor.
We also already got the preview NPC and you could create a new character and delete if it you want.
Changing a character a million times in a month is not the RPG way. While we can change outfits at will, Anet even activly restrict us changing the character too much. We still dont have race change.

[Suggestion] 30day Total Makeover Contract or Permanant Total Makeover Contract. I would pay monthly or a one time fee for this, as I enjoy supporting the game but also feel like there’s an easier way to express the changes I want to make to my character, which happens a lot because I change my mind a lot about her appearance and I bet others do with their characters too!
In another game I used to play, I paid $20 for the option to change the total look of my character any time I wanted within the 30 days and I loved it! Is this something others would enjoy?
P.s. I posted as a suggestion in this forum and then someone pointed out this would be a great post in the gem store forum!
I always thought there was a ‘Permanent Makeover Contract’, but it seems such a thing does not exist. Only the ‘Permanent Hair Stylist Contract’.
You might consider posting in the Sticky above, ‘Gem Store Suggestions’.
Good luck.
Thank you.
I will do that.

I do not follow. I do not see an option in the game to be able to change my characters appearance whenever I want permanently? I can explain better perhaps or did I misunderstand somewhere?
I believe Dawdler is referring to Permanent contracts. But, currently, there isn’t a Permanent Total Makeover Contract; there is a Permanent Self-Style Hair Kit, though.
“Permanent total makeover contract” would, if it existed, allow for the ability to change the total character appearance, whenever I want. Yes? I’m not yet super familiar with the gem store but this is helping me to word what I want correctly and with a choice of words others can understand easily.

I recognize I can already permanently change my characters appearance. What I’m inviting is the option to change it any time I want within the 30 days for a set price, as opposed to paying every time I change the look, or for every 5 makeover kits I buy. D
Does this clarify or add to the making sense?
In another Video Game, there is an option to pay $20.00 to makeover your character any time in those 30 days and retain the look I chose during and after those 30 days as well. I loved this back when I enjoyed that other game and feel many will enjoy this feature in GW2, as I am totally ok with investing in the game to change my look, and it has so far taken me a lot of trys and do-overs to get the look I really want due to the difference between the Makeover App’s preview option and in-game appearance.
I would love to see this added in GW2 gem store!!! Will create freedom to express myself many times over and feel good about my investment in the game.
:)
Edit: A Permanent Total Makeover Contract would be awesome too! So that I can change the total makeover settings whenever is wanted!
Another edit: some have mentioned “But there’s a makeover preview NPC.” My argument to that is that the preview option doesn’t show what the character looks like exactly as it would in the game. There are many who do find this an issue.

Would love more cute/sexy/feminine options for armor with medium and heavy armor classes. I know not everyone cares about their appearance but I feel like a great deal of players have more fun feeling great about how their characters look. Seems interesting to me to have the armor styles so drastically different though I guess heavy armor makes sense… But who needs sense :P. I know I personally enjoying playing more when my character matches a way that I actually want to look or looks like a character that is fun for me to look at. But yea, so far it seems limited in terms of enjoyable looking options.
Would be curious how a poll would turn out on this topic…or several poll questions on this topic to see what players are interested in in terms of armor.
It could also save you money. Instead of buying a makeover kit each time you want to make changes you could make a new character, screenshot the sliders, try them out in game and then only buy a kit when you’re certain you’ve got the look you want.
this helps a lot and so does the rest of your post and the other posts here. So, to be clear though, there isn’t a way to test my Characters look out in the game before purchasing the kit, right? Especially if I want the exclusive features?
I like the option to let go of making sure she’s attractive actually haha. Kind of relieves some pressure. And screen shots have worked well for me or using my iPads camera to save pictures of sliders. I have gotten excited about how she looks in the character creation place and that hasn’t gone well for me when I decide to buy the kit over excitedly.
Walking away has so helped, cause I find things I haven’t liked once coming back so far.
Your post helped me to be less mental in this process and be more asking myself “why” I want her to look a certain way so that I can be happier with her look for longer periods of time instead of what my mind thinks is pretty temporarily haha.
I don’t know that there’s a way I can receive assistance on this, but in case there is, I am asking! I am very particular with how my character looks/feels in games, and really want a human female that feels like it fits a style I want to play with. Yet, so far I have not felt very confident in the creations I’ve come up with for faces. Part of this is that I’ve found that what I enjoy in Character aesthetician previews, once I see her outside of that preview, it feels/looks very different.
It could be I’m rare to have this issue, or that I’m female IRL, or it could be others have had this issue as well potentially?
Does anyone have tips/ideas/suggestions? I’ve been buying more makeover kits than a person should lol. I’ve also only played for 3.5 weeks, I LOVE this game, I LOVE the customizeability, just wish there was more customizeability for the faces and that it showed more precisely what the character would look like in-game. What looks very cute on my character selection screen, looks so far meh in-game. I’ve been looking at other characters too and probably spent way more time than is necessary trying to get ideas from others, as it’s not like I can copy their sliders!
I’m aware I’m probably pickier than the average game-player

I would LOVE better/more face choices for…well especially humans. I found there’s only one face that feels useable to me. I bet that feeling isn’t uncommon. 3 seem to look decent.
But yes, I’ve been sticking to the same face, when creating characters, and have gotten a bit bummed when seeing players running around with matching faces lol.
With that said, super happy with the dyes selection and how the dye system works. Customization and feeling comfortable with my character’s looks just makes it more fun for me!
Wow. Thank you all. These are incredibly helpful comments so far. <3 <3 <3 So glad I asked. Taking note on all of this. Glad to see that I can do mid range and be effective and can even open up to melee range more…And see it as an exploration, not a block on fun!
I’d like to start off by saying, I’m somewhat new to MMOs, very new to considering builds, stats, and anything around that. I’m a week into the game.
I really love this game though.
My question is around the Necromancer. I have found I really prefer ranged combat in general with classes I’ve played in this game and another. I just haven’t enjoyed melee combat that much. Necromancer is a class I actually like a lot and it’s the first one I’ve tried in GW2. I want to be able to continue to play it’s ranged abilities, but am finding a lot of guidance online to use daggers and melee weapons.
I am enjoying the staff a lot, but I want to make sure I will continue to enjoy ranged abilities as I continue to level up, at least majority of the time to melee combat.
I’ve been using the staff pretty much no matter what just because I prefer range.
(edit: just saw this could be in the Necromancer section, which some how I didn’t see those options before.)

Curious about the answer to this issue. I haven’t dc’d as much as the poster, but I would like to not dc at all. :)
