[NA] Looking for Weekly Raid Guild

in Looking for...

Hi all!
I’ve been in and out of the game since launch, and I’m looking to get some clears on as much raid content as possible. I’m most comfortable playing Guardian(DH or Regular) or Druid, but I have an 80 for whatever is necessary. Every character has a minimum of full exotic, although some that I play more (DH and Druild, for instance), have at least half ascended. I’m not hardcore, although I do understand and appreciate the challenge of the content. My existing group lacks experience for it and as such I have experience with all waves of CG but never got a down or anything past that.

I’m looking for a guild with raid nights 1-3 times a week, as well as regular fractal runs. I’m most active from 6 – 10 pm on weekdays, GMT -5. Mostly I just want to have fun completing challenging content and a group of like-minded individuals!

So, logged in, heard the music, loved every second of it. Would it be possible to upload this to the soundcloud so I can listen to it out of game?

Hall of Monuments Update?

I love when people say “We want exact timeframes” because that’s exactly how ANet -doesn’t- work. It’s been said before, they used something similar to Scrum for their projects, meaning that they have no hard-listed ETA’s (that they would probably have to push back anyway, as that’s how most ETA’s seem to work these days). Would be better to find out what’s been done already to fix the issue, rather than demand something that would be wrong anyway.

That being said, I could totally see them coding another bridge of sorts between GW1 and GW2 to validate what people should have access to, or even going over everything in the original HoM bridge to figure out where the bug came from. Either way, it’s not going to be a quick fix, especially knowing the two major content updates (HoT and the LA patch announced today) are being worked on full-tilt. I’d bet they only have one person on this who also has a bunch of other “non-backburner” small stuff to worry about. Meaning yes, it will get fixed, but no, not timely, because reasons.

You know, or something like that. I could be completely wrong.

Can we talk about "No Valid Path"?

A million times this. Stopped playing Silverwastes on my thief all together because my downed teleport lost all functionality against VW. I absolutely agree that if a player could get somewhere naturally, you should be able to teleport, with the possible exception of within jumping puzzles or other notably difficult jumping sections.

Multiple Portal Drops

Well, that got long quick. Also completely off point. Yes, it sucks some people don’t have portals. That isn’t the point. The point is that people shouldn’t be able to get more than one. Yes, loot tables are the same for everyone. No, one person having a billion doesn’t reduce the number that everyone else gets. But it’s a negative impact on the majority of players who haven’t gotten portals. Like people have stated, no one who got a portal is going to complain. So why give everyone else a reason to feel discriminated against?

Yup, another portal complaining thread. That being said though, I’m not complaining about the RNG per se, more that the same person can get more than one portal. I’ve seen some people with three or more portals, while the number of complaints from everyone else just goes up and up. I have zero idea as to if there are a limited number of portals, but everyone having an equal chance even if they already have a portal just seems silly. Anyone else have thoughts on this (that isn’t “RNG is lame, I didn’t get mine yet”)?

Oh, and before someone says “It’s RNG, live with it”, I think doing this via RNG is a good thing. Just part of the execution seems flawed.

The API is a JSON implementation. Basically, if you provide a url, it will return an array of information that you can parse through. I’d suggested going through https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/community/api/Welcome-to-the-API-Development-subforum , there’s a lot of useful information. If you’d rather not deal with the api itself and would instead like to use a wrapper, there’s a list of those here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/API:List_of_wrappers

To echo everyone else so far, we’ve been relatively in the dark for so long, it’s really nice to be kept in the loop. Thanks!

Revenant Race-Specific Skills

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Suniahk.7268

Suniahk.7268

As anyone who has spent any time on GW2 knows, each race has their own specific utility skills that can be learned, independent of class skills. For Revenants, they switch their utility skills using heroic souls, so race-specific skills don’t really make a lot of sense. To that end, I’d like to propose the following theory for your consumption: Revenants will have race-specific heroic souls. Who, you might ask? GW1:EotN provides us with the answer. Humans get Gwen, Asurans get Vekk, Norn get Jora, Charr get Pyre, and Sylvari get Glint (spoilertag’d for people who haven’t finished the season 2 story yet, as it ties into that).

Obviously, this is completely off the wall, and I’m sure there are better candidates than the Heroes of GW1. That being said, they all brought something unique, story-wise, to the table. So I figure it’s a decent place to start. Like I said, thought, it’s a theory. Might not even happen. But really… What if?

sPvP Team Balance Volunteer Bug

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Been playing a bunch of PvP recently for the dailies. I’ve noticed that any time the teams are stacked against me (for instance, I’m on red, with 2 players. Blue has 4), a popup comes up saying “Team is Too Big!” and it gives me the option to volunteer. To switch to the other team. The one that’s stacked, which is why the popup comes up.

Now, it doesn’t actually switch me if I get “picked”. What happens is that it treats me as if I’m on the other team for win/loss purposes (so in the example, if blue were to continue steamrolling, I’d get a win for it, not a loss like I should), but I’m still on the correct team, and contribute points and kill stats to the correct team. I’ve had it happen where I’ve gotten rank points equal to what I would have gotten for a win, as well as earning my daily for a win. Despite not actually winning.

Would you complete Season 2 achievements?

Suniahk.7268

I would say no.

I enjoy playing WvW. I really do. But I’m a casual player. I don’t have the luxury of playing WvW 4 – 8 hours a day to get the achievements in a week. And often times, the only progress I made towards the achievements was made because I ran with a zerg. Could I solo a supply camp to grind one more point towards an achievement? Sure. Is it a lot more fun to play with other people, guildmates or no? You bet it is. And playing maybe an hour or two every few days during non-peak times makes doing so extremely difficult.

TL;DR: Tying WvW participation to achievements is a quick way to make non-hardcore players shy away from WvW. Or, at the very least, make them feel shafted.

A lot of you guys seem to be missing the OP’s point, and picking out individual things he said instead of the whole idea in general: Make large zergs more vulnerable as opposed to the powerhouse stompfest they are today. To that end, I love the “no rezzing defeated players” idea. If you can spike someone that badly while their zerg is around, they shouldn’t get to cheat death because the zerg can pick them up in a few seconds. Something else that would be really cool to see would be an expansion of traps. have a zerg charge a supply camp only to fall victim to a few well placed damaging traps would be extremely satisfying. I mean, not damaging enough to kill them, but enough that they have to stop and lick their wounds for a minute.

Could also be that they have two story lines set up. One in the event of Kiel winning, one for Evon. May be that we’ll still end up seeing the Fall of Abaddon anyway, just at a later date.

Account Bound Commander Tag

in WvW

Posted by: Suniahk.7268

Suniahk.7268

As to the whole “getting people used to the same commanders” thing, you could tie a tag to a character, but allow alts to utilize the tag under that name. For example, when your commander tag is active, your account name in brackets could be showing, minus the numbers. For instance, for me, it would show (Suniahk) beside all my characters. That way, you know exactly who is commanding, regardless of the character name showing. Also, I completely agree that gold is a terrible metric for buying a tag. Badges seems like the best idea, as that’s the only WvW specific currency. Something to the tune of 1500 to 2000 would be ideal, as that would take time as well as not directly giving achievement hunters a tag just for PvE alone.

Where did Shadowstepping come from?

Suniahk.7268

One could argue that the Ritualist’s power is somehow tied to Cantha, although in what way we really wouldn’t have known. For all we know, someone saw an assassin shadow step, said “Hey, that looks cool, I want to do that to steal stuff”, and devoted their life to figuring out how to tap into that magic.

There really isn’t any way to explain the abundance of one and the absence of another, so it’s entirely possible that the concept of shadow stepping was never truely localized to Cantha, even though that seemed to be the source 200 years ago.

part of the lore states that Tyria lost contact with both Cantha and Elona. However, that’s not to say that right before we lost contact, natives to those lands just packed their bags and left. I’m sure that many assassins probably would have set up permanent residence in both Tyria and Elona, which would mean that they could have plausibly taught younger generations the ways of the assassin. Thieves could be a splinter faction that was less about the kill and more about the “ooo, shiney” factor.
