I just finished playing for a few hours with the new update. The FPS went from an average of 30 up to about 45(hope it can get even higher) . The stuttering only happened for the first few moments after a loading screen. I had no keyboard problems, no crashes.

Still a few graphics issues that have been stated before.

Looks like the improvements are working great nice job, keep ’em coming.

I don’t know if the keyboard layout changes on me, how can I tell?.

What happens to mine is the letter and number keys just stop working, but the arrow keys continue to work. I just started having this problem a few days after the living story was released.

An even easier way to do the puzzle is to turn all of the beams ON rather than turn them off.

Yep, that’s what I did too.

Having fun testing the new 64 bit Mac client. Thank you Anet management for allowing a native Mac client to be developed. To the Mac development team, you surpassed my expectations, great job!!

Problems things I’ve found while testing:
– No Footprints. Tried all graphic settings.
– Some trees have a weird lighting in maps.
– Character outfit has strange graphics in preview. Also in Black Lion preview.
– Slower loading screens than 32 bit client.
– Screen stutter and lower FPS than 32 bit client.
– Cannot screenshot for in game bug reporting.

Things that are improved from 32 bit client:
– The colors are fantastic! Rich and deep.
– Sound is deeper and crisper. Very nice.
– Black Lion always works.
– No more crashes!

Worth playing on my Mac?

I normally don’t mess with stuff like this but there were times before I used fan control that the CPU was getting super hot. I have a 27" IMAC and this keeps things much cooler, been using it for 3 years now.

You can change what temperature it kick’s in and what speed to adjust the fan to. It normally only kick’s in when I’m playing GW2.

I understand that Apple likes to keep their computers quiet, but I would much rather have a cooler computer than a quiet one.

I’ve played GW2 on both my 15" MacBook Pro (2011) and i5 Surface Pro 3.

GW2 will play on lower settings, but the cooling solutions aren’t really made to cope with CPU and GPU intensive games, so they heat up and throttle like crazy. I’m guessing the current gen MBP’s will behave similarly.

I use this https://www.tunabellysoftware.com/tgpro/ for fan control. It works great when things get hot.

Do we know if there is a chance for the alpha to be released this xmas? Im dying to give it a go while i have free time.

I doubt that an alpha will be released by Christmas but I’m hopeful that early next year will have something for us. I’m pumped for a native 64 bit OS X release! I never thought I would get the chance to be say that. HA

From the WIKI in regards to the Copper-Fed-salvage-o-Matic:

Given the gold-gem exchange rate and saving 0.52 Copper coin on each salvage, you would have to salvage approximately 3 million items before it becomes cheaper than using Basic Salvage Kits.

I use Temperature Gauge Pro to monitor the temperature sensors and control the fan speeds. It has reduced the temps on my iMac by 10c.

Supercluster.7159

That is great! no need for bootcamp then! How well does the iMac deal with the heat (fan) though when playing? Because it still uses a nvidia xxxM card (laptop card) and I am playing on a laptop which heats and causes my fan to run constantly (which i guess is normal for laptops). No techy here at all, if someone can clarify if that has anything to do with the heat, please do! xD

My iMac was getting in the mid to high 90’s Celsius and was a little concerned about that. I bought Temperature Gauge Pro which monitors the heat sensors and allows you to adjust the fan speed. I set the fan control to max when any sensor hits 80c. Now the highest I’ve ever seen any sensor is 85c which is well below Intel and Nividia throttling temps.

My guess is Apple wants to keep things quiet and keeps the fan speeds low.

Can you ACTUALLY play on a Mac?

I have a new iMac 27. My GPU and CPU both run in the 80’s Celsius and sometimes hit the 90’s. This is with all of the GW2 graphic settings on high. The CPU seems to heat up slightly more than the GPU.

I bought Temperature Gauge Pro and set it to auto boost the fan speed when any sensor gets into the 80’s. It keeps everything now in the upper 70’s. I think Apple likes to keep the iMac’s quiet by not increasing the fan speed very much. At max you can hear the fans but it’s not bad where normally you can’t hear them at all. I don’t feel any hot spots on the back of the computer except where the fan exhaust is.

I can see the smile on your face Ahriman. Mine arrived yesterday and I’ve been playing/testing and I have the same numbers. I get an average FPS in the 70’s doing PvE. It will drop into the high 40’s for a few seconds during a fight but it comes back fast. I did not expect the FPS to be this high and SMOOTH, although I would assume this hardware in native Windows to be better.

The thing that I’am most impressed with is how the colors and sharpness are so rich. I didn’t expect that. The sand storm in Dry Top looks fantastic.

I will show some screen shots in a few days. Sadly I have too much going on right now to play. I just want anybody out there who is questioning if a Mac can play this game at the highest settings, the answer is a definate yes.

My specs:

27-inch iMac
3.4GHz Quad-core Intel Core i5, Turbo Boost up to 3.8GHz
8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM – 2X4GB
1TB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200 rpm
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4GB GDDR5

I’m not playing on a mac yet, i have one on order, but I see a lot of requests to fix the crashes in large mobs in WvW. I have the same problem playing the game in Windows. My screen locks up or I get an error pop-up and have to exit the game. This might not be just a mac specific issue.

I normally play along with my brother who uses a mac mini. I seem to lock up more with my Windows machine than he does.

I would like to see an in-game popup notepad. Just a quick free-form text editor where you can jot down notes. I’m always writing notes on paper of crafting ingredients I need or areas that I want to visit later or things that I want to do at another time.
