Now i can finnaly swap my 20% Gold Bonus Infusion with 20% Magic Find one.

Thank you Anet.

Now I get it. I actually came to this forum to ask what I was missing with the extractors. I’ve been meaning to move a set of rune of the traveler to another character but in no way, form or shape could I justify using the extractors since the price would be higher than simply buying another set of runes. You know what they say, two travelers traverse more than one.

Really didn’t understand who the target audience for these were, now I do. They’re for timegated laurel gear. Which makes sense. I’m somewhat disappointed, I had hoped they were going to be on the cheap side (if they were 50 gems I’d buy them in bulk, now I’ll just buy new runes instead) but even this implementation is awesome. I wouldn’t want to destroy my 20 laurel amulet infusion either.

Thank you anet, this adds player choice. Which is fantastic.

CDI- Character Progression- Vertical

With the introduction of ascended gear I gave up. I’ve got 8 chars, all geared in exotics and I enjoy playing all of them. Variation is the name of my game, my main pleasure is trying out different builds/gear on each alt. The investment for ascended weapons was steep, but I managed to craft two for my main. I had already given up on the laurel-locked jewelry for any alt.

There’s no way I’m putting in the effort to gear even my main in a full ascended set, much less three different sets for each character. Not even sure how long that’d take, some say 28 days for one set. So 3 months/sets per char, 8 chars, that’s two years of grinding every single day. It sounds outright insane when I type this, but there you have it. And that doesn’t even include the jewelry, now that I think about it.

But you know what? That’s ok. Most MMOs I play end up the same way. I get good, but seldom the best, gear. I’m fine with that since as long as I’m not at a disadvantage I can afford to try new goofy builds. With the advent of ascended gear that became impossible. To be honest I’m somewhat at a loss for -any- type of progression right now.

I’ve got my exotics. I’ve got my WvW ranks. I don’t do dungeons/fractals since I promised myself I never would again after the vanilla wow grind, and I stick to my promises. That also rules out legendaries due to the token requirement. I would go for achievements but, and I mean no offense, the WvW achievements are dreadful. No imagination, no thought required. Just a constantly incrementing number at the side of your screen that ticks from nothing to 100.000. That isn’t fun. At all.

I’ll still play, this isn’t a rage-I-quit post. I love WvW and I enjoy the living story evolution. Also surprisingly fond of the world bosses to be honest, despite my lack of interest in generic pve. But progression is dead for me. With all that entails.

I spewed some vitriol earlier in this thread since I was dismayed to find out that they were going to change the light skin, of which I had bought 2. To my surprise I just had my ticket resolved, and it was to my satisfication. So I felt obliged to make another post in this thread underlining that fact. It wouldn’t have been fair to complain when unhappy yet remain silent when not.

Still unhappy with losing the esthethic, but very happy with the way it was handled. Let there be balance, in all things.

If you go to an arcade, buy $10 worth of tokens, but find that the game you wanted to play is broken, you’re not going to get your $10 back. They’re going to expect you to spend those tokens on other games.

What if you asked the clerk before paying if the game you wanted was available and working? What if he said yes, it sure is, just the way you want it. Here, preview it if you wish, looks great, doesn’kitten And then you find out that no, he was lying. Wouldn’t that count as false advertising? Wouldn’t you want your tokens exchanged at that point or would you again accept that you had to play another game?

Anyway, officially giving up at this point. That analogy just tickled me the wrong way for the wrong reasons.

EDIT: Err, the “kitten” above must have been me forgetting to hit space between “doesn’t” and “it”. So it ended up as a female mammary gland, apologies for that.

You paid for gems, which you’ll be refunded if you so choose. It’s a terrible situation and ArenaNet desperately needs to hire a “Common Sense Manager” to oversee a number of aspects of the game before pulling something like this. I sympathize, but as I said, this is the best and only course of action they can take that preserves the integrity of the game.

You know that isn’t what I paid for. If we go down that road someone will bring up EULAs and the ToS, neither of which are legal in the EU, where I am located. Digital services are also protected under EU consumer rights laws. But let’s just not go down that road since it leads to a dark and desolate place that will benefit noone and probably just get the thread locked.

Sod it. This isn’t constructive. I don’t begrudge anyone for having their opinion, even sympathize with them to a point. Who knows, maybe the reskin will be so awesome that I’ll drop to my knees and praise the fact that you guys raised hell about something you’re passionate about.

I’ve spent my last euro on gems at least. That much is certain.

But at the end of the day, buying something off the gem store gives you no more rights than someone who doesn’t. Everyone playing Guild Wars 2 is a paying customer, because they bought the game. Utilizing the gem store gives you no privileges, and you should not expect special treatment.

I expect no special treatment whatsoever. I expect to be given what I paid for, not something else.

Yes, in fact I do, and thats the reason why Anet removed it. Just because you and a select few others like the skin, doesnt mean it doesnt show laziness on the part of the art designer. Give me one good reason why they were incapable of coming up with a brand new skin to introduce in the game? Especially given the fact that you are paying cash money for it. It amazes me that people are so happy getting crumbs from anet when they should be upset that they arent getting crackers.

Like I said, they screwed up, I didn’t. All I did was buy a skin in a game that I enjoy. Arguing with me about arenanet having lazy designers (which I think is unfair, but fine, that’s up to you) is rather pointless. Why would I give you reasons when I don’t even work for them? I paid for a product, I want the product I paid for. I don’t want to pay for something that I might or might not like at some undefined point in the future.

If you don’t like the new skin they give it, then you can get a refund. You’ve lost nothing. This is the best possible solution.

And will they refund the skin I overwrote with the flame skin? Look above in the thread. Many people have bought an original set of cheap exotics. Skinned it. Applied the flame skin over the old skin because it just looked better. Reverting to the original exotic will remove all the effort of obtaining the original skin and, again, real money we paid for the original transmutation crystals.

Even transmutation splitters won’t solve the problem. There was a problem with infusions vanishing, will people lose laurels?

It’s funny listening to people defend a mistake that undermines the methodology of the game.

Do you honestly believe that the methodology of the game is more important to a company than giving customers what they paid for? Anyone who had the human cultural t3 armor has lost nothing but a sense of exclusivity from others having the flame skin. If they ruin the light flame skin then I’ve lost €20 (yes, I bought it for two characters).

You can argue the value of abstract concepts (even feelings) and I might very well agree with you, since many invested a lot of time to grind that gold (and arenanet themselves offer a gem to gold conversion). But you’ll never convince me that I’m not entitled to the product I paid real money for. They screwed up, I didn’t.

Well, they must have. Isnt it what the Transmutation Splitters do? Return the items to the previous appearance?

I believe it returns the original appearance of the item, does it not? I overwrote an already skinned set with the flame skin. If I split it then I’ll get the standard badge of honor exotics, not the skin I overwrote. That isn’t acceptable.

For the people raging about having spent a fictional currency (gw2 gold) for their t3 armor, I get it. You spent a long time grinding to get all that gold and you feel betrayed. But telling us that bought the skin that we don’t belong in the game is rather silly. I bought a product/service from a real company for real money. I expect to get what I paid for. There’s laws to ensure that I do.

No matter, we haven’t seen the new skin yet. It might be even more awesome than it currently is, but I fear it might not be. Let’s wait and see before we bring out the pitchforks.

“Wait sir i know you ordered that Deluxe meal for £20 but here have these chips instead, if you dont want them well here take some store credit. By the way that Deluxe meal you wanted…yeah were not selling it ever again, but hey heres some chips you can buy with your credit”.

Poor anolgy (i tried) but this has planted alot of doubt in my future BL purchases…

It actually isn’t a poor analogy, it’s exactly what might happen. If I lose my original appearance, get stuck with two skins I don’t like the look of and get refunded 1600 gems that I have nothing to spend on then I’ll not be a happy camper. The other light skins look, as you put it, like chips compared to the deluxe meal.

I’ve bought two copies of the light armor, and one medium (which I somewhat regret, but no matter). I’m fine if they reskin it, even though I think this entire debate is somewhat silly. Didn’t even buy it for any of my human chars since I know they’ll get the regular t3 cultural (which looks just as great as it did before the flame version was released), I just really wanted it for my norn and sylvari since I’m not too fond of their t3 armors.

But if they do reskin it and it turns ugly (which there’s a good chance of happening unfortunately) then I certainly hope they refund me the original skins that I overwrote with this version of the light flame armor in addition to the gems. If they just revert my skinned items to the original state then it’ll be bloody badge of honor default exotics. That isn’t the skin I overwrote to get the flame skin. Nor will I be happy if they just refund me the gems and leave me with a new skin that I don’t like.

Long story short;
I either want this version of the skin, which is the one I bought because it looks great, or the original skins and gems back if I’m not happy with the new skin. I would ask for my darn money back but I’m guessing they’ll just tell me I bought gems for the money so there’s no real point in even trying that. Which is true I suppose, but I bought those 2400 gems specifically to buy these 3 skins.

I want confirmation on this if any arenanet employee is reading this thread.
