it happens so infrequently for me that it’s hard to map, but it definitely happens more when i’m walking (not swimming) in the water or an ele is using earth spells. i have all my in game volume sliders at 0, the game is in focus, and it’s louder than anything even outside the game. it sounds like a flat board being slammed on a concrete floor with an echo. i’m using onboard sound, all my drivers are up to date, and it’s happened since beta on win7 and win8.
adding my name to the list. first time since beta that i’ve not wanted to play.
i hate coming into a map and the only thing that’s posted is “where’s the zerg”, especially when the pre event keeps resetting because only 3 people are doing it. someone asked where the zerg was, i said that we were having trouble with the pre event and they said, “oh well” and left the map. after 5 of us finally finished the event chain after 3 tries, the npcs for balthazar started moving and there were 30+, none of whom had spoken in map chat, or responded to the calls for help.
all frostgorge is is people running up and down the same ice path (and not the one with the champion or veteran) until jormag is up then it’s droves of people.
the tarnished coast is virtually empty except for the crowded beach of afk players. the same thing in blazeridge, there’s always at least 15 people, often more, just standing around waiting for the pre event to finish. not actually helping with the pre event at all god forbid they do anything else on the map. everyone knows the dragon is the most important thing, there’s no dynamic group event chains or minidungeons or champions, just one thing that happens every 4 hours.
all the orr maps are a mess, you can’t go anywhere because all the waypoints are eternally contested. you’ll have a glimpse of someone running for ori every 10 minutes or so, but if you get anywhere in a group event chain and die, you have to run across half the map to get back and realize everyone else left or gave up.
there is zero activity in the map chat. i’ve been playing in 2 zones and no one has said anything or responded to my requests for help with group events or champs in 4.5 hours. i saw people running around. occasionally i’ll help them with an enemy and once they see that they don’t have aggro anymore they run off to finish whatever they were doing. probably because who cares, you still get credit even if you only hit them once.
i love the game, i love running around and helping people and running events together and working together. but none of that is happening and it’s preventing me from running solo. i can’t do anything in the higher level zones because they’re all group events that start over when you fail instead of going on a timer.
why have search if it doesn’t work? the first (and only) page is filled with the same thread over and over obfuscating any actual results it may have produced. useless.
i made a short 20sec clip of the problem, the first few look like they could be interrupted by the auto attack but the last few definitely are not.
this has been happening since day 1 with my asura, fast attacks or slow it doesn’t matter, and when it does happen i can be hit. too many times in mid-dodge i’ll get netted and immobilized, or get the guardians chains. and the window for actually evading is much too small, during boss fights i can be knocked out of the air mid dodge and stunned, or still take damage during the dodge. it’s so unreliable i have to carry 2 stun breakers just to make sure i don’t get locked down. which still happens, especially with the FotM swamp traps, stun breakers don’t work, the same trap can knock me down 3-4 times in a row, and dodging doesn’t work.
i’m on a pc, but i was able to reliably reproduce this in FotM by pushing F while strafing.
previously, movement hasn’t been a problem for me before but my skill buttons (1-0) get stuck all the time. the keypress animation plays repeatedly and if i hit it again it may not actually work.

they removed the ability to rez pets for this exact reason. it took too long, wasn’t useful, and (via the F key) took priority over rezzing players or looting. the thing about the clones is that they stay active long after you get up and even if the clone disappears you can still rez the thin air. it may not be that difficult to tell which is the real one to rez, but that split second deciding the right one, clicking on them, making sure you’re far enough away from the clone to activate the right one, makes enough of a difference that it should be fixed.
it cures crippled, immobilized, and chilled, but knocks you down. you can’t outrun anyone with it unless you use another stun breaker to save yourself. but needing a stun breaker to break your stun breaker is a waste. by the time i get up after it the other person is right on top of me without any sort of speed boost.
skill 1 is a guaranteed miss unless you’re standing within 100 range or on a completely flat surface. it’s been like this since beta and it’s really killing the mood for me. i can hit everything in a 45 degree angle to the right and left, but if they’re half a foot up or down a slope i miss. this shouldn’t be news to anyone, i’ve seen it talked about in dozens of other threads, but kitten PLEASE address it. i appreciate all the new content, really, but alot more if i could use my favorite weapon.
i wonder this too. when i shoot a projectile through a water field the “regeneration” heart icon shows up on the one who put the field down but i do regen myself. but other times i’ll do a light field and everyone else will shoot through it and none of our conditions are removed despite the heart icons on them (not me).
i’d also love some clarification on bolts, firstly do they effect the person whirling, secondly can they miss (like how only a few of meteor shower’s objects hit), and lastly what is “brutal bolts”?
PLEASE make elixir B apply ALL the boons like it currently says, elixir H is the one that does a random boon, we definitely don’t need two of them.
also, almost all pistol, rifle, gun, and flamethrower abilities (though especially the flamethrower ones) don’t work on hills. if they’re above me even within 200range it shoots below them into the ground, if they’re below me it shoots over their head. all a ranger has to do is stand on a hill and they can take us out in seconds, and trust me they know this.
pretty frustrating considering almost every other class’s rez ability will get them up immediately. glad it does other stuff though.
i believe they’re referring to the one hovering over the person, and i agree, knowing who is down versus who is dead makes a huge difference when you’re using a revive skill in a high damage zone. just today i was in TA and the poison clouds covered most of the ground so i only saw the icons of 2 people on one side and 1 person on the other, i couldn’t see their bodies under the clouds so i chose to rez the 2 people but they were both defeated and the other one died in the process. very frustrating for making fast decisions. one huge difference for wvw is there’s not always the party icons to see everyone’s health.
say i want to be a tanky/healing necromancer? can’t use “soldier” “sanctuary” or “ice” because i don’t have freezing attacks or shouts “lich” and “speed” take away the toughness, forces me to choose more conditions or waste points into swiftness, and gives me a pretty worthless option at 6 (5%? 60 second cooldown? not for me). so my only options are the generic “divinity”, “wurm” (still no toughness), or “warrior” (-1 sec weapon swap is pretty lame compared to what the others get).
i realize things can’t be too perfect otherwise there would be balance issues, but at least give me a vit/toughness rune i can actually use with my class, other classes can use stability or quickness than just warriors or rangers. even with the healing runes boon duration means nothing to me, i eat boons for breakfast, give me ‘-X% condition/stun duration’ (on self).
(this is just a last minute thought) if i could have 6 runes that had 2 effects of my choosing and one pre-existing set bonus that wasn’t limited to certain classes/types of attacks, i would have the freedom to build what i wanted without feeling like i’m forced to play a specific role. and i do realize that crafting a ‘boon duration’+lyssa’s ‘gain all boons’ would be game breaking, so i don’t want that.
i’d just like a few more choices.
more range is what i’d like to see. being able to use traditional off hand weapons as a main hand would be really awesome too. running around with a main hand warhorn or focus could really add more than just the usual “#1 slash #2 channel #3 chomp”.
or how about some different skills for death shroud? keep life blast if i have a staff, but give me something more medium AoE if i have a dagger or scepter. as a melee player going into death shroud is like pulling out a sniper rifle for a fist fight.
