Map exploration tied to story is a bit boring. Tami’s game is fun. Can’t believe there are people that hate Taimi – she and Canach is only two characters I care about.

Struggling with HoT content.

Tangled Depths is a vile place, nobody likes it. It has 4 HPs that are completely soloable. For masteries experience farm the AB – AB is king.

I’ve ran HoT with 7 characters, all in fracral/glass canon builds and gear because defense is for the weak.

For warrior grab rifle and/or bow – I don’t melee when solo. All HoT mobs are easy/-ish to kite but pain if you are face-tanking. Yes, they go down faster with higher DPS melee weapons but what’s the point of that when you can play ranged with your foot. The only character I consistently melee on is necro but c’mon, two health pools and meat shields.

Summary: grab a ranged weapon, kite. Don’t play in Tangled Depths more than necessary. Give your love to AB.

Wow, a lot of thought went into this. I wonder if all gods were referred in a vague way, something along “Blessing of power” would it work for all races?

Or just add scythe as melee weapon. And one-handed non-aquatic spear.

Also his minions constantly call him by this name, so maybe he named himself and the dwarves took note of it. Or maybe he adopted the name.

I don’t think Elder Dragon would adopt name given by a ‘food’ race.

About Bubbles. I’d say, one of ocean races would mention why they left their homes.

I’m more curious about what Elder Dragons are.

Chicken and Egg

It’s a two way street.

Anyone that happens to also play Marvel Heroes (no, it’s not a replacement for this game, just a different game, I play both, I know, the horror) and frequents the forums know what I’m talking about.

And that’s about all there is to say about that.

Played MH since closed beta. Best players-devs communication I’ve seen yet. Coming back to GW2 after over a year of absence and seen how different it is was a little… weird.

I don’t find the current system any more ‘dull’ than the previous system. You’re still doing the same things as before.

Not everyone is PvE player.

Will rely on whatever help I can get from Guildies to do events too hard for me to do simply with the help of My wife.

First of all, congratulations on marrying your girlfriend from the post 3 hours ago.

“Rely on help”. And you really thing your run with fresh character will be objective? Especially from the perspective of a new player?

They fail to realize that most MMO’s prior to World of Warcraft made players earn what they attained. Maybe it’s simply that most players have only started playing MMO’s with World of Warcraft or a World of Warcraft clone, and Now feel that The WoW template where everything is handed to them On a silver platter .. (compared with games Like EverQuest… where most had to be clawed out and gouged out at risk to life, limb, and inventory…. Look up corpse runs … exp loss on death… etc. ) Gw2 seems to be following the GW1/EQ format.

Sometimes having more challenge makes for a better game. If people approach this game with that in mind, maybe they will see these changes are not bad for the game, just harder than things were before.

I see you like to be punished. I wonder why did most MMOs turned away from this model? And many new advertise as “sandbox”? If you are feeling not punished enough you are free to play without traits and in starting gear. As for harder content, new should be added instead of dragging out the time we need to complete previous.

If you consider ever form of playing grinding then you shouldn’t play MMOs cause that’s how they are.

Playing any content I want to play with a character and leveling it is not grind.

Playing content that I do not want to be able to unlock traits for my characters is a grind.

Playing content that I do not want to be able to buy traits for my character is a grind.

This is it.

Meanwhile I’m still one-hitting mobs in everything up to lv50 maps while they take about .000001% of my HP with their devestating autoattack skills.

I went afk on my Guardian and a Bear was on me the whole time and it couldn’t even kill me because my passive Virtue regeneration was out-healing it, and I don’t even have that much Toughness equipped (about 2500 defense).

This game is just too difficult.

/Gasp. Your Guardian has good survival. How shocking.

I leveled Guardian after Mesmer. Try doing reverse. You’d be surprised.

I have all classes at 80 and my main is an Elementalist, which has the lowest defensive stats?
<snip>

Gratz on all the 80s. This thread is posted by someone who is only leveling their second character. If changes to low level traits acquisition and clothes transmutation are nothing to you, do not post “eh, everything is ez mode” comments in a thread of someone whose experience is directly affected by it.

This topic is not about class balance during leveling either. As guardian I rolled through content pretty much by auto attacking and going as far as forgoing dodge since it’ll get mitigated anyway.

Also, if anything, lvl 80 is ‘ez mode’ with all the traits and gear stats available.

Game Updates: Traits

What I expected:
-Get to said level
-Unlock trait choices
-Get list of tasks appropriate for that level as, for example, some not horribly complicated JP, exploration (this is present) and my personal preference, obscure veterans mobs that have something thematically common with a trait you unlock. -Again, everything appropriate for level you unlock slot.
-And, if you don’t want to do it, pay few silver to trainer.

What I got:
-Completely inappropriate zone levels
-Grind
-Rely on presence of zerg
-PS out of slot unlock level range
-Sending lowbies into WvW maps (I can’t even being to describe idiocy in this one, with possible exception of EotM since it’s a leveling train anyway)
-And if you don’t want to do it, more grind for gold and skill points.

Having lvl 80s I can pay gold but the skill points? Leveling you need them for utility skills and even if you wouldn’t unlock any and did all skill challenges I’m pretty sure by 80 you would still be short of total points needed.

Pushing traits to 30 makes early game that is already dull, due to not having all the class toys to play, even duller. Early levels are extremely important for a new player to get hooked on the game. People are likely to get only traits that meta builds dictate thus killing the point of free respec.

Not to mention how this system destroys ‘hop right into it’ part of sPvP experience. I play all modes of this game but for people that don’t like PvE this is a huge punishment.

If devs want to make people do the content they listed as tasks, they should make it award some fashion coins that you can trade for unique skins. This way PvEers and some PvPers would do it for collections or ‘prettiest princess’ syndrome. That of course would require new non-gem skins so it is not happening.

I have 9 character so, despite the fact that I’ve have planned at least 2 more, I can live without new alts. However, I finally managed to talk a friend into joining me in GW2 baiting mostly with aesthetics and ‘play how you want’ part. Yes, I could give them gold but skill points? ‘Play to grind’ is not an attractive slogan for a new player.

How to fix this? Roll traits back to be unlocked by default and use task system for something optional. But, since companies don’t like admitting their mistakes, this is unlikely. Thus, remove skill point cost, cut gold cost to at most 1/2 of current, make all tasks level and solo appropriate. For sPvP make all traits unlocked by default. For WvWvW, make them cost badges. For people with multiple copies of the same class, make traits to be account unlocked.

Now, for the people that enjoy this system, I honestly don’t understand. If you find them fun why didn’t you do all those things required before the change? Are you the type that needs to be forced into something or will not bother otherwise? As for ‘similar system worked in GW1’ argument, don’t even start with this nostalgia. I am GW1 veteran, it is a completely different game with absolutely different progression. If people want get their GW1 nostalgia catered, anet could make an option to unlock elite skills in similar fashion.

There’s completely no need to defend anet. It’s is a business company and, since this is B2P game, we are already the paying customers.

Join zerg in EotM. Run until you have about 1000-1500 badges. Go to your server’s borderlands, buy exotic armor and weapons from armor\weapon master.
