Brought this upon myself by assuming people can be trusted once in awhile.
This is the Internet. You can trust no one. No one.
Like no one. I still don’t trust fellow guildies I’ve been playing with for over a year!
I don’t even trust my guild leader…and I am the leader
I don’t have dungeon master, havn’t done most of the dungeons past TA since that’s when my guild kindof died around me.
But I’ve done bits and pieces, and take direction very well. I can do AC in my sleep but I really hate switching. I don’t understand the logic of 80 only for a dungeon that can easily be completed by lv 35 characters including kholer and i’m getting kicked even at lv 65 and 75<_<
I dislike these people
Honestly?
I was disappointed with stealth when they announced how it would work.
I played DAoC for years and years, when I heard that Anet liked it I was hoping for thief to follow along the lines of the shadowblade/assassin/inflitrator.
Then I learned about the skill bar and I went “SWEET COOKIES!, They could have a skill bar that changes when you’re stealthed to some stealth only skills like setting traps and some sort of attack”
I was sad when stealth wasn’t a perm toggle like DAoC that just made you run fairly slow and could only be entered ooc, so you have to plan your strike then you’re in for a fight and have to rely on dodge, with 1 maybe 2 insta stealth skills if it hits then fan.
Then again i was also sad thief didn’t get rifle as a weapon selection
For those saying well you get out of combat, switch and now you can crush the mob and that it isn’t fair? How is that any different from waypointing to down, resetting skills, and then waypointing back? It’s just a matter of saving time, effort, and allowing people to have multiple builds, would eliminate alot of us feeling like we’re stagnant and forced into specific builds just to survive (can we say elementalist?).
In addition, armor swap would be nice. Have the first set purchasable in game at a low currency cost (so all people can get it) then future additional ones cost a specific amount of gems (this is for stored trait builds, weapons, and armor).
because you can’t just waypoint back in wvw…
But you can. All the spawns have a WP with a retrainer to swap skills.
@JubeiTM I’m agreeing with you, just counter-arguing some of the points against the idea lol. I’d love to have dual build options for my guardian in PvE
PvE really doesn’t matter anyways, there are very few instances where you don’t know what the PvE mob is going to do anyways, and the AI doesn’t adapt so you can make even a build not set to counter something beat it.
As far as PvP goes, you should already be scouting ahead to see what the enemy is running, lock this out of sPvP (free respec already) and in WvW they have retrainers at the spawns anyways.
This is so that you can run two builds side by side, you’re still going to have to pay a respec to switch one. Possibly to unlock the second, and giving it a long cast with a medium out of combat timer will prevent people from just swapping after ducking out of combat (I’m looking at you, tricksy thieves) Also running into small groups, let alone lone players is rare in WvW, and Zergs should be varied anyways. The “I’ll test it” scenario isn’t valid because you’ll give them time to swap, and with proper cd you can’t test it yourself and step out of combat. (not to mention if you’re anything but a thief/mes you’re chances of escaping combat long enough to swap traits is low)
It is something that can be balanced to prevent insta-swapping. It’s not simpler. It is one extra trait build slot, which you still would have to go back to trainer if you want to change traits in either of the slots.
I’ve gotten my ranger to 58, after hearing about this pet nerf (which I support, my river drake melts zerkers running just as signet build by himself) because I feel like it’s going to be a nerf pets and leave ranger where it is, and our damage is weak.
They could have it so you can swap specs for 5-10 silver if you do it without a trainer. Like maybe 5 in PvE and 10 in WvW. Scaling depending on player level, and maybe decrease the price at the trainer.
Are you suggesting that it should be more expensive to swap traits through the builds? For frugal players, this would make build swapping relatively mute because they would still have to take the time to travel to find a trainer. On the other hand, I think a trainer should cost more money (although the whole money sink is a frustrating one to begin with) because you are basically paying their salaries (if you look at the game economy that way).
No, I’m saying it should cost more to swap on the fly. Like in the middle of dungeons, or running around in the open world.
PvE should have it has the system is now. no changes. As I stated above once you enter a PvP environment you should be able to switch to a PvP spec. I am totally against “on the fly” trait swapping
Could you perhaps shed some light onto why you are against it? We have seen a lot of arguments for, but none yet against.
Well to me. this would unbalance the game. I am not saying it is balanced now, but allowing on the fly trait swapping anywhere would allow someone to for example:
Start beating on a MOB in PvE. they start to lose. they back off and do a trait swap for better protection. they then return to combat and kick the MOB to there and back.
To me this is an unfair use of the mechanics of the game. That is why I would support one setup for PvE and another for all PvP, but never an on the fly ability. just think of my example in a PvP environment. wouldn’t you feel cheated if someone did that to you.
You must plan ahead not when the mood hits you. it diminishes the emersion into the game
Immersion is not broken by having just two sets of traits, you still have to plan what sets, and as I gave in my suggestion it needs both an out of combat timer and a long cast time to prevent the aformentioned scenario. It can be balanced, and has been before in other games. Not just WoW
Something like RIFT’s multi-spec system would work imo
As of right now we have WoW’s respec system with DAoC’s one spec limit.
I’m all for dual spec. My guardian I usually just run AH hammer, but on my ranger I like roaming spirits and signet builds, Give us something like RIFT that you have to spend 15s casting, with a 45sec-1min cd after combat, that cost like 30-40g to get the ability.
Long cast time prevents the “switch to build x to hard counter”
Gold cost is attainable but not too easy so that only people who want it would get it
See, I noticed this, but I’ve come to think of it like this:
Asura weapons change size by design, it’s obviously some advance Asura Tech that they created to allow them to carry all these weapons around while keeping a lower total weight to their gear, but they still need to be able to grab it from the holster and there is a limit to how much they can shrink something before it starts acting weird so they only shrink their weapons by x% while it’s not in use, then when they grab it there are buttons in the grip that extend it to full size!
Asura magic.
How does it work?
